This:

nationalconservatism.org/national-conservatism-a-statement-of-principles/

Look at the speakers;

nationalconservatism.org/natcon-uk-2023/

How can anybody who has studied any history whatsoever vote for this?

Are living in some kind of shit, TV movie about the fall of the UK?

I attempted to get thread back on track by posting a Twitter link to the things that were actually said, npt what people of whatever persuasion want to have been said or imagine was said.

Seems people aren't interested in the actual content of the actual conference.

Nope.

Same old, same old.

They're not actually winning anybody to their cause with this either. Quite the opposite.

Any news on what 30p Lee has said?

Not yet

According to Christopher Hope, he hasn't written his speech

Which women's rights have been removed?

Well played.

I am sure he will have something to say.

And he is the Deputy Chair of the Conservative Party

Samphiredragonfly · 17/05/2023 18:17

@MargotBamborough

I'm more worried about the actual anti woman policies of the next party of government than I am about things which aren't even Tory policy but which you somehow think the Tories will do despite the fact that they won't even be in power.
Intrigued.
Country is hardly functioning properly. Tory brexit has scuppered the economy. Only have to read the headlines tonight about the foreign car industry giving the government an ultimatum or 1000s of jobs will be lost and you are more worried about a future Labour or LD government. Are you in a position of such privilege that none of this affects you or your family ?

It is important to remember that what happens at the NatC event is no reflection of the beliefs of those that attend or the party that they belong to.

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/05/2023 18:20

I watched that Starkey interview on GB News. I am no longer surprised by the racist bullshit he spouts, nor am I surprised he's spouting it at the antisemitic, misogynist, racist Nat-C conference.

If Sunak had any balls or control over the far right loons in his party, he'd be having a word. But he doesn't.

The Overton window is shifting.

Notonthestairs · 17/05/2023 18:23

Starkey complained about "pretty girl history" and a few years later followed that up by stating old ugly women historians ruined his tv career.
But I suppose it all gets him the attention he so clearly needs.

Perhaps if Labour had more to say about how exactly they will fix those problems and less about their contempt for women, I might feel differently.

Here we go

Tory deputy chairman Lee Anderson closes out the conference

Says Johnson, Brexit and Corbyn won Tories the Red Wall: “It was nothing to do with some of my colleagues who think it’s all about them”

Which rights specifically have they removed?

I'm not going to repeat again what i and others have written, suggest you have a read of few posts?

Sausagenbacon · 17/05/2023 18:31

alexandra No, I, too, would like to know what Women's Rights have actually been lost under the Tories. Not the claims about what might happen, or what could happen.
Just tell us what have been lost.

The one common thread that runs through the Conservative party is aspiration.

It's about opportunity--that anybody in this country can get ahead. That may sound like the "American dream".

But let me remind you: it's the British dream.

Sausagenbacon · 17/05/2023 18:34

I think most of the GC's on Mumsnet are exactly that.

Starkey is a Conservative member, he stood for election as a Tory for council elections more than once. He's also been in attendance at least one party conference. It's not as if he had no connections to the Conservative Party.

But obviously not suggesting he is under or should be under Sunaks control.

Me too.

If they weren’t chasing Brexit voters nor too nervous about breaking off from gender ideology then they might actually do something better
