This:

nationalconservatism.org/national-conservatism-a-statement-of-principles/

Look at the speakers;

nationalconservatism.org/natcon-uk-2023/

How can anybody who has studied any history whatsoever vote for this?

Are living in some kind of shit, TV movie about the fall of the UK?

The thread is about why we need to get the Tories out because they're a threat to women. It's entirely relevant to discuss what happens once we've got the Tories out, i.e. is the alternative better or worse.

Erm no it isn't. Or wasn't. It is now, having turned into an 'only the tories know what a woman' thread despite reality.

The thread title is literally about getting the Tories out.

MargotBamborough · 17/05/2023 17:15

And we had someone catastrophising that the Tories are going to ban abortion within the first five posts, which is quite impressive given that posts two and three were the OP bumping her own thread.

Can things be worse ?
I guess if you are well off and live in a desirable area you might think things are fine.

I think where women's rights are concerned things can get a hell of a lot worse, yes.

Why can't Labour just not be dicks?

Samphiredragonfly · 17/05/2023 17:18

@MargotBamborough the thread was about National Conservatism but sadly OP has become frustrated at the derailing and gone, hopefully to UK politics on Reddit where folk of all political persuasions can discuss stuff without this silly sectarianism.

So you disagree with those speakers at the NatCon event that want to ban abortion?

SunnyEgg · 17/05/2023 17:20

I thought the Labour posters didn’t want different views on this thread

Are you sure you’re ok with all political persuasions discussing stuff. I can’t say that’s coming across

You are not wrong there. If those who espouse the views shared at the NatC event gain more power then women's rights will definetely get worse.

I'm mystified as to how you know that posters are Labour posters, there was one poster I think who did say they were a Labour party member on this thread, but how do you know other posters are?

SunnyEgg · 17/05/2023 17:24

Labour / left

The posters who keep saying stop posting

If any of those vote Tory feel free to correct me

Samphiredragonfly · 17/05/2023 17:24

@jgw1 Poster isn't sure where she stands and who she supports. I'm at the point where the whole debate is pointless. Pretty much banging head against a brick wall-the likelihood of getting an answer

Samphiredragonfly · 17/05/2023 17:25

@SunnyEgg if most of the posters on a thread disagree does that mean they stifle debate ? Mind boggling.

I must have missed the posts where people were told to stop posting or are they like the things that Lammy said?

Hah. Except people of the political persuasion that doesn't believe women have penises, in which case you are definitely not welcome on Reddit.

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2023 17:27

I attempted to get thread back on track by posting a Twitter link to the things that were actually said, npt what people of whatever persuasion want to have been said or imagine was said.

Seems people aren't interested in the actual content of the actual conference.

No disagree away. By all means. I’ve said that throughout.

It’s more the stop posting ones that kept cropping up (and the weird troll hunting part that was deleted)

I think the problem is that some posters don't like it that their heros who know what a woman is are being called out for enacting policies and proposing further polices that remove woman's rights. When this contradiction is pointed out their heads spin.

There's an early post where I was accused of whataboutery for trying to return the topic to the OP!!

I'm more worried about the actual anti woman policies of the next party of government than I am about things which aren't even Tory policy but which you somehow think the Tories will do despite the fact that they won't even be in power.

Which women's rights have been removed?

Darren Grimes and Toby Young are doing their bit awaiting Lee Anderson's closing speech.

DuncinToffee · 17/05/2023 17:55

Penultimate panel ends with speaker Lois McLatchie claiming that 200,000 abortions a year is “too many”

She is the communications officer for ADF UK

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/05/2023 18:03

Any news on what 30p Lee has said?
