This:

nationalconservatism.org/national-conservatism-a-statement-of-principles/

Look at the speakers;

nationalconservatism.org/natcon-uk-2023/

How can anybody who has studied any history whatsoever vote for this?

Are living in some kind of shit, TV movie about the fall of the UK?

So it’s easier for me to work now due to free hours, and due to get easier

Which policies are pp talking about that will be brought into action?

This lot don't want you to work, or get an education.

What how?

Free hours really helped me. And is going to be expanded

Which policies have made it harder or will do?

Can you be more specific as I haven’t found it harder to work

Easier than when and why/when is it due to get even easier?

I would imagine that "this lot" refers to the MPs and other people at this conference who seem to have a view that women should have children. The right kind of women. None of those immigrants who haven't integrated into British culture. And if you are a woman who is not on board with looking at British history or are in a non traditional family, then I don't think they are keen on you to have children either.

TooBigForMyBoots · 16/05/2023 23:29

Do you work ft?

It got easier when 30 hours were introduced. If that expands women will find it easier to work.

I’m not seeing policies to make it harder for women to work and didn’t experience that, but the reverse.

TooBigForMyBoots · 16/05/2023 23:42

Thanks for answering @jgw1. I momentarily forgot about the but Jeremy Corbyn etc. arguments. I was too busy explaining how this current Tory party have wrecked women's rights and the future Tory party, be it led by Penny TWAW Mordaunt or one of the Women know your place Tories, will reduce our rights even further.

How is it going to be staffed? Are you aware of the recruitment crisis in childcare? The expansion of free childcare that's supposed to take place in Sept 2024 and Sept 2025 won't happen because we can't get the staff. It's just another Tory promise that's never going to come to fruition.

More future faking women. How can you still be falling for this shit?🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I’m talking about the 30 hours that were introduced in 2017

Did it impact you? It did help me, yes.

Have you ever worked full time with young dc?

TooBigForMyBoots · 16/05/2023 23:57

Oh right, 2017. I thought you were talking about that pie-in-the-sky shite announced by J Hunt when you said due to get easier.

SunnyEgg · 16/05/2023 23:58

I’ve also seen criticism on here that Tories want women to be working too much due to policies of free hours

Which is at odds with the claims they don’t want women to work

Labour / left seem unsure on the simple do they want women working or not criticism

There’s a lot of talk of being ‘terrified’ but not much on specific policies.

Both.

I’m guessing you haven’t worked ft with young dc though nor benefited.

TooBigForMyBoots · 17/05/2023 00:04

Guess away. But you're wrong. I had one child under Brown's government and another under May's. The difference in what was available childcare wise was stark.

Sure Start was brilliant.

The terrified comments refer to the Tory party, specifically the ways they've actually destroyed women's rights and how they're going to wreck them further in the future.

The Tories hate women.

SunnyEgg · 17/05/2023 00:11

So not 2017 when 30 hours were introduced. It helped a lot by getting costs down. Made a big difference

I didn’t have access to Sure Start although did have dc (I see it more on mn)- could anyone leave their dc there as childcare or was it support only?

SunnyEgg · 17/05/2023 00:13

Labour thinks you’re a shrill bigoted dinosaur yet that seems ok for you 🤷‍♂️

Anyway been fun. Bonne nuit

jcyclops · 17/05/2023 00:14

People on the right of the Conservative party attend events like this NatCon UK one. It's not a surprise and it's not a big deal. Likewise people on the left of the Labour Party attend events organised by organisations such as the Socialist Campaign Group and The World Transformed. Again it's not a surprise and it's not a big deal.

ToWhitToWhoo · 17/05/2023 00:18

IClaudine · 16/05/2023 23:10

Some of the Tories very own PMs don't even fit this mould. Heath never married. May never had children. It is crazy.

Tories like Heath would not be supported by the sort who attended this conference! They would think of him as this terrible 'wet' who got us into the eeevil Common Market.

Even May would be too moderate for them; and she was criticized by right-winger Andrea Leadsom for not having children. William Hague was also childless; he and his wife felt that that had to reveal their fertility issues, after elements of the right-wing media used his childlessness as one of their justifications for claiming that he was having an affair with a male staff member.

It definitely has to be a better deal now. I paid an absolute fortune in child care back then.

Huh? I'm not a Labour supporter. Never voted for them in my life. Stop guessing, assuming and making stuff up in the absence of knowing. It's doing you no favours, especially when it comes to voting.

VonThorn · 17/05/2023 01:24

TooBigForMyBoots · 16/05/2023 18:43

This trans shitshow happened under the Tory government. The destruction of women's rights happened under their eye.

Yep. On their watch.

There are some genuine red flags with some of the language/speeches at NatCon, not least that Cruella is using it as a platform for her PM campaign when Sunak tanks. No, it's not the Tory party, but there are a LOT of Tory MPs there, and there is a direction of travel that some powerful people would like to take.

America is very different, but there is no hiding the march of the Right and the rise of Fascistic thinking. Attacks on the courts, on education, on voting rights, women's rights... we can be calm whilst not being complacent.

You are most welcome!
I am excited to learn what the next squirrel is.

Moving somewhat back to the OPs topic. Given that immigrants to the UK have a higher birth rate than those born in the UK would I be correct to suppose that the speakers at this NatC event are in favour of immigration and against the Home Secretaries clamp down on perfectly legal migration?

MargotBamborough · 17/05/2023 06:27

newnamethanks · 16/05/2023 22:58

Stand as an independent candidate then as nobody suits you @MargotBamborough, no doubt you'll be in with a massive majority supporting your views and you'll have a platform from which to expound.

Why should I have to stand as an independent candidate in order for there to be an option on my ballot paper to vote for a party which doesn't hate women?

That's really shocking.
