This:

nationalconservatism.org/national-conservatism-a-statement-of-principles/

Look at the speakers;

nationalconservatism.org/natcon-uk-2023/

How can anybody who has studied any history whatsoever vote for this?

Are living in some kind of shit, TV movie about the fall of the UK?

This is a thread implying that we need to get the Tories out before they ban abortion

I don't think they would, But would they start to change the rules.

I am sure that American women didn't think Roe vs Wade would be overturned.

Slowly, slowly.

And people can see what's happening in other countries.

You are not wrong.

Forgive me, I'm a deeds not words kind of feminist, what exactly have they done to clamp down on it, because as far as I can see, they've only clamped down on Scotland imposing laws that do not align with the rest of the UK. Have they removed all the biological men from women's prisons yet?

And why did they appoint another TWAW believers to head Education? And why is Jamie Wallis on the Women's and Equality com? See these appointments happened recently, under Sunak. Our PM who, until recently believed that a woman was whatever Boris Johnson said.Confused The Boris Johnson who refused to say that only women have a cervix on live TV. Who's to say Sunak won't change his mind again?

Anyway, I fail to see how any woman can possibly think that the Tories are a good idea. They've destroyed women's rights and women's lives with their deeds and it looks like some of them want to go further.

The intervention in Scotland was big news and they are tightening up on the prison issue, as of February.

I agree it's not nearly enough, but even these baby steps will undoubtedly be reversed by Labour soon anyway.

This is not a trans thread. There are plenty of threads on MN about trans people.

This is a thread about this conference with several prominent Tories attending.

I am not going to get derailed.

Suella is pitching for PM if the Tories lose. I wonder if she will keep her role in the Government with all this?

No one said it was a ‘trans thread’ it does include the Labour party’s views which will impact women though.

I know Labour voters and the party would prefer if women didn’t discuss it but tough really.

It’s also a thread about posters being ‘terrified’. About Braverman winning in 7 years even though they’re confident a less extreme version of the party will be out in 2024.

So confident about the latter but convinced Labour won’t keep hold of public vote after five years.

L1ttledrummergirl · 16/05/2023 22:00

There is a lot about the Labour Party that I don't agree with. I've always looked at manifestos, my local candidates (the people I actually have to cast my vote for), and how their values fit with mine.

Safeguarding and women's rights are very important to me, and I will do everything I can to continue to fight for these. These have been eroded under the conservatives and Sunak is incapable of showing any leadership in this area.

The fact that his Mps and cabinet contain people that not only endorse nat-c but speak at it is shocking. They are espousing views that would have seen organisations made illegal in the past, yet they are normalising them.

Yanbu, the rise of Nat-Cs is worrying.

I have to say I thought the thread was about the views expressed by current Ministers and other senior Tories at the NatC conference, views which I find abhorrent.

I don't think Labour has some dastardly plans to strip us of our rights.

Trans people have lived amongst us for decades. I shared club toilets with transwomen back in the 80s. Guess what, nothing bad happened.

Yes, some difficult conversations need to be had, but frankly I don't know any one in real life who is basing their intention to vote on whether Starmer knows what a woman is or not. I only see it on Mumsnet and some parts of Twitter.

Back in my clubbing days nobody cared which toilet people used. I think women have genuine concerns, that shouldn't be silenced, but there are much greater threats to the country's future. Anyone can technically use any toilet, anyway, so I don't know why people get worked up about it. It's much more alarming to think there's an element of the right aspiring to extreme repressive measures for women.

Pretty certain that it does get discussed on a lot of threads on MN though.

If I knew what a gender ideologist was, I would be able to help you with your question.

That I don't know what one is, might be a clue to the answer though I suppose.

A Labour supporter who supports gender ideology.

Not GC.

If you are not those things your posts are a misrepresentation of your views.

Of course.
There is so much knowledge out there that it would be impossible for one person to know everything.
Does that though have any relation to the matters discussed at the NatC event that the OP posted about?

Perhaps you could start another thread to explain what you mean by gender ideology, I would find it most useful and it would save derailling this one further.

You are filling it quite nicely with ridiculous Lammy posts in any case.

If it’s an issue post to other posters.

The belief that TWAW is a central tenet of ideology.

It's essentially the belief that people have gender identities which usually, but don't always, match their biological sex, and that it is someone's subjectively expressed gender identity which determines which single sex spaces and sports that person should be in, rather than their objectively determined biological sex.

You will remain disappointed on that front though as I am of the view that it is for each individual to decide how they vote.

So you are unable to recommend a party which respects women's rights then. Got it.

In which case, my reaction to the OP is "why has Labour chosen the moment when we have never needed a decent opposition more to out themselves as insane misogynists?"

I trust this clears things up for you.
