What’s all this about Facebook sending a friend request to anyone whose profile you’ve viewed?!

I am the worst for looking up people on Facebook and have done so several times in the last 48hrs. Just heard there was a glitch where Facebook was firing friend requests to anyone’s profile who you’ve visited! Can anyone confirm if this has happened to them before I panic?! 😂

We really don't need it being covered. The less people that know, the better, fgs 😅

Yikes! I looked in the settings and this seems to have happened to me last year. Three friend requests on one day that I didn’t intend to send. Fortunately not the most embarrassing possibilities. Thankfully nothing yesterday. I will be very careful in future.

Flipping heck. I checked my friend requests in settings and there was one I’d apparently sent that I didn’t recognise at all. The account doesn’t exist anymore, so I googled and it was some awful child abuser that I must have clicked on a link to from MN when she was in court. 😮 I most definitely did not send her a friend request! This was back in Nov last year. No more FB stalking ever. 😳

I think it might be glitching, again ,have randomly sent a link to my cousin in Australia and a vague facebook friend in America ,to a diabetes support group.I'm in🙈

I got a notification late last night that someone accepted my friend request...i have looked at her profile as shes a friend of a friend although i dont like her lol....just looked at my activity log and its not showing in there...im confused.

It happened to me!
I am a massive Facebook stalker
Last night I was looking at some people I work with but dont know well
Next second I had 3 people accept my friend requests.
I was mortified and couldn't work out how I even sent them a request
Now it all makes sense.
I ended up finding out how to check if I had requested anymore friends and there was about 10 others that I deleted.
So very embarrassing!!!

There is one I didn't sent last night about 7pm (now deleted but an AWFUL one)
and two from last August that I defo didn't send. I have also had a Friend Req I've been ignoring for 18m 'go through'. Bloody stupid FaceBook. I'm deleting it.

It only takes a minute to deactivate or delete your account.

Just go to settings > privacy.

I think this has made us all wary of clicking profiles now 😆ultimate embarrassment 😳

I think if your phone detects you are regularly close too? My partner gets suggestions of people I work with but am not friends with on fb but am on instagram (he isn't on instagram) which is weird

I noticed that facebook had unfriended my new friend for me ,but this time it came up on my activity log . I don't know if I feel better or worse about that as I didn't unfriend him. It really does show how little control we have over anything nowadays .

Me and DH tested this out between us once we knew it was happening. I added him back. Fb then deleted him from my friends list. I requested him again yesterday and it got deleted by fb. Requested him again this morning and fb deleted it again! He had to add me for it to stick.

Either someone's gone rogue at HQ or their systems are failing. It's really disconcerting. I keep checking my sent requests in case I've added anyone else traumatic.

What a shit show.

Another thing is that Facebook unfriends people without them knowing.

If you have been unfriended, the person might not know.

I noticed it this week and asked the person if they had unfriended me. I knew they hadn't. They said it happened to them a few times, that Facebook unfriended people and they did not know.

I’m sorry but I haven’t heard of that before.

How are you sure they didn’t unfriend you & then when they were put on the spot by you directly asking why - they said that they don’t know what happened…
