What’s all this about Facebook sending a friend request to anyone whose profile you’ve viewed?!

I am the worst for looking up people on Facebook and have done so several times in the last 48hrs. Just heard there was a glitch where Facebook was firing friend requests to anyone’s profile who you’ve visited! Can anyone confirm if this has happened to them before I panic?! 😂

Oh god this is bad. I did loads of stalking yesterday of people that I really wouldn't want them to know I'd looked! I can't see that any have been sent but I suppose they might have just rejected the friend request so it wouldn't show up anymore. I was on the desktop version on the computer, not the app on my phone- does this make any difference?

It was only for a small period of today but is very much true. Unfortunately during that small window I checked out the Facebook page of teenage sons very new not really official girlfriend 🙈 we are now friends because she accepted. DS will hit the roof when he finds out.

I did the same thing, and it's not something I would normally do. She also accepted, as did her Mum 😳

Ironically it turns out her Mum has known my Mum over 20 years, so that was a happy coincidence because they've just got engaged.

I had 5 people that I had apparently friend requested. I don't think I went on all their profiles though! They were all people in my 'people you may know'. I think I looked at one or two of them only.

Oh crikey!

I'm glad I didn't go on fb yesterday as I was busy but I looked someone up this morning quickly. Just had to double check it didn't add them as a friend. It didn't. Phew.

Yes and she's messaged me asking why I've sent her a request...ive blocked her...she's the ex's 3rd baby mum who's only in her teens 😳 I'm mortified more at the ex doesn't see DD and hasn't for 9 years!! Yet he's put getting teens pregnant 🤰 🙄

This is why you need a separate account for stalking. My stalker account is a guy about 20 years younger in a town about 3 hours away whose account is totally locked down. Not that I’m weird or anything 🤣

I have a personal account and a nosey account too 😂

I used to but after this I wouldn't trust facebook to glitch this and make it known who we are 🤣 I haven't had one for years though, this was when I was serious ex stalker. Over that one now.

I just went back on the profile of someone who accepted my accidental friend request yesterday, and saw that we are no longer friends. I assumed she'd removed me as my add was a bit weird, I don't really know her. When I went to check I hadn't added anyone else, the activity log said it was me who unfriended her! Which I definitely hadn't. So it appears that accidental unfriending is also a thing, unless it was FB trying to "undo" the glitch 🤔

Also a very random person who is a mutual friend of dsis was requested by me! I definitely didn't click on her profile, no idea who she is.

Yep. I also "added" some randoms that I definitely didn't click on. They were friends of friends so I think the glitch was possibly worse than they've confessed to.

This is so horrific, I'm laughing so much but OMG. Thank god I was at a funeral yesterday, I am SUCH a stalker! There are definitely one or two that I would absolutely die if they knew!

Cannot believe this isn't in the media. Relieved that I have none sent from yesterday, darednt look further back! Also a bit gutted that I didn't receive any 😂

Thankfully no friends requests on mine.

I spent some time checking the profile and friends of a new friend my DD has. She has SEN so I need to subtley snoop a bit to make sure she's staying safe. How embarrassing would that have been if I'd friend requested her new friend and most of their family/friends too. 🙈

Ahh, this makes a lot of sense. I got a weird friend request from someone I don’t know but who knows some people I know. Couldn’t think why they had tried to add me!

I searched for a woman who has been stealing from my elderly relative. Then saw she accepted my friend request and wondered wtf was going on 😩
I've also searched through her connections....ah jeez.

If you google Facebook glitch it is being widely reported on but by relatively small media outlets. Meta has publicly admitted to the glitch and apologised.
