What’s all this about Facebook sending a friend request to anyone whose profile you’ve viewed?!

I am the worst for looking up people on Facebook and have done so several times in the last 48hrs. Just heard there was a glitch where Facebook was firing friend requests to anyone’s profile who you’ve visited! Can anyone confirm if this has happened to them before I panic?! 😂

THANK YOU SO MUCH - I've seen it & cancelled it now. I can only hope they didsee it & that it doesn't still show as a cancelled request. It's really put me off FB that's for sure !

Jeez I accidentally sent one to someone today, only noticed when they accepted. I wondered how I managed that but must have been the glitch!

I got an unexpected friend request from an ex today!
It's just occurred to me though, I clicked on his profile for a nosy when it came though. Does that mean he also got a friend request from me?

Oh, I've already done that, I've learnt my lesson previously. My favourite band has an FB fan group, whose posts are occasionally"liked" by the lead singer's mum. So of course I clicked on her profile and had a nosey, bit disappointed to not find any cutie baby pics!

Next thing I'm checking her FB friends, same surname, next thing I find myself on his missus' FB page, looking at cheesy holiday snaps of him in t-shirt and shorts posing in front of the leaning tower of Pisa! (mmm, nice legs...) then holding his newborn child in hospital... at which point I was like, STOP! this is wrong, I felt so grubby and snoopy, shut it down and never nosed again. My conscience wouldn't let me, plus I see him and chat to him at gigs; he's so friendly and nice, I'd feel so guilty and awful if he knew. Like I said, lesson learned.

Oh pants this got me today - but I viewed the account about 2 weeks ago, I wondered when it said friend request accepted as I had avoided their request for years.

Happened to me today! Thought I’d accidentally hit friend request when scrolling (usually so careful), but now I realise it was this.

What time did this happen? And how would you know if a request was sent without you but then rejected? That wouldn't show on the activity log ...

Yep it happened to us my DHs ex girlfriends husband must have been snooping at my DHs profile as DH got a request off him haha awkward much 👀👀
Luckily I've not been snooping much today 😂😂

Was using dds fb today to check local pages and hers had sent a request to someone (that neither of us know) who’s going through a tough time at the moment so doesn’t need random friend requests from strangers!

Have managed to cancel it, thankfully it was the only one.

This is why you need a separate account for stalking. My stalker account is a guy about 20 years younger in a town about 3 hours away whose account is totally locked down. Not that I’m weird or anything 🤣

my phone is glitching, I reply to a message, but it's randomly sending the message to other people! I'm having to try to be very careful what I write considering it could go to anyone in my contacts!!

Haha my mum messaged me earlier and said someone she was looking at the profile of had accepted her friend request. Must have been this but it's not the first time she's done it so assumed it was her 🤣

Also I don't want to be a party pooper but for everyone cancelling requests and thinking they are out of the woods, you can set email notifications if people send you a friend request. I discovered this on a very drunken night out when my DSis kept sending someone a friend request from my profile and I was cancelling it. Apparently he had a few emails that morning 😳
