Claire Balding's (love CB btw) is trying very hard to say how 'joyful' it feels and is a special day but it just doesn't seem like usual royal events to me. Just feels very flat. Maybe it's the greyish weather. AIBU?

The Jubilee was very clearly a celebration, but Coronations are NOT that since they're much more formal, solemn and religious in nature.

People have to understand the distinction between the two types of Royal and State events.

I’m not sure they can win. Lots of pageantry and celebration would have been criticised for being out of tone with the feeling of the nation- the cost of living crisis etc So they dial it back a bit and now they’re criticised for being ‘drab’.

I saw the last hour.

It looked absolutely rammed up the mall, I was surprised how many people were there. The joy of the crowds interviewed was infectious. The military superb and made me feel proud to be British.
