Disclaimer: I’m not British and have no skin in the monarchy game, but I do think the ears are a bit much.

To think the Mumsnet coronation logo is quite mean?

I was going to say it's shocking but it's not. Traffic is what matters right? Enough manufactured controversy to keep the punters coming back. I can't wait to see the apology they dream up for this one.

I thought that femvox spinoff site was a bit flouncy but I am starting to see their point😠The disrespect towards women's spaces continues unabated.

Agree with this

Maireas · 06/05/2023 07:53

It's not about Charles being offended. It's about MN considering this logo appropriate for a state occasion, whether you agree with that occasion or not.

Abra1t · 06/05/2023 07:53

It’s horrible.

Could you send to me too please?
@mnhq this just isn't ok and it breaks your own talk guidelines.

capitanaamerica · 06/05/2023 07:56

I had no idea it was supposed to be ears. I thought it was feet, and wondered if it might be some kind of suggestion that Charles ... um, travels a lot? Now that I enlarge it and see that it's ears ... hmmm. He listens to the people? Or perhaps is a big Enid Blyton fan? It's unclear.

It’s spiteful and childish.

AbsolutePixels · 06/05/2023 07:57

I saw the logo and couldn't believe what I was seeing, it's totally unacceptable. I'm so fed up with mumsnet, I'm going to go to femvox.

5128gap · 06/05/2023 07:58

Goodness me. I'd not noticed. It's a surprising choice, certainly. The coronation is controversial, but depending on the site's position, I'd have expected something serious, or for it to be ignored. Poking fun in this way seems an odd choice to acknowledge it. The most interesting part for me is that someone clearly thought that this was an appropriate 'MN 'house' reaction to the event, and that MN's public stance was to turn the man into a joke. I wonder if that's a barometer of public opinion.

NotBadConsidering · 06/05/2023 07:58

Personally, it’s the hypocrisy I can’t stand. Threads removed for “not in the spirit”, that ethereal standard we are meant to uphold, then somehow this logo is in the spirit despite it being much more childish and a personal attack than a lot of those removed threads.

Make your mind up, MNHQ.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 06/05/2023 07:59

MN showing its true colours.

TeenLifeMum · 06/05/2023 08:01

I hadn’t even noticed but that’s horrible, disrespectful and normalises bullying of people’s appearance. What on earth were they thinking?!

Absolutely this. Complete hypocrisy. Hard to take any moderation seriously now.

Tenancyproblems · 06/05/2023 08:03

it's not in the spirit of the site

I disagree. Online bullying is very mumsnet.

Efacsen · 06/05/2023 08:03

Yeah mean and puerile

And dated too

ConstanceReid · 06/05/2023 08:04

Meh. I can’t summon the energy to find it offensive. It’s in the style of a caricature which would definitely highlight his big ears.

Irreverence about the royals is always a good thing imo.

NetZeroZealot · 06/05/2023 08:04

Agree, it's horrible. What is MN going to do about it?

why aren't they commenting?

LlynTegid · 06/05/2023 08:05

Not good, I'd have expected just a crown.

ColgateAndMustardShouldNeverMix · 06/05/2023 08:06

I agree this is in really poor taste

Deadpalm · 06/05/2023 08:06

Totally agree with anyone. Especially considering my sibling was thinking for years about having his pinned since outlr parents didn't do it when he was a kid.

Shift haven't started yet

ZellyFitzgerald · 06/05/2023 08:07

I doubt MNHQ will comment, they can't take criticism, never have. They'll just stay quiet and ride it out even though what they really should do is take it down and apologise.

Plenty of innocuous threads and comments get removed for 'rule breaking' or but this is allowed? What a joke Mumsnet!

Startingtofeelratherstretched · 06/05/2023 08:07

I agree, not quite comfortable mocking someone's physical appearance.

Theluggage15 · 06/05/2023 08:07

It’s pathetic but not surprising.

RightyThen · 06/05/2023 08:08

Have mumsnet replied to this thread yet?

MyUsernameToday · 06/05/2023 08:08

Really, Mumsnet?

This really is not in the spirit of the site : to mock the appearance of someone really is not funny, appropriate, cool, or kind.

Please be kind - always.
