Disclaimer: I’m not British and have no skin in the monarchy game, but I do think the ears are a bit much.

To think the Mumsnet coronation logo is quite mean?

Not a Charles fan particularly but agree it's very immature and mean spirited.

SunnyEgg · 06/05/2023 08:09

NetZeroZealot · 06/05/2023 08:04

Agree, it's horrible. What is MN going to do about it?

why aren't they commenting?

They may be reading anyway but I don’t think tags go to mnhq

They read site stuff or if it’s reported

MayBeeJuneSoon · 06/05/2023 08:10

2 threads now

They should see and be getting reports

Will prob get some half assed reply about weekend skeleton staff

NetZeroZealot · 06/05/2023 08:11

I have reported the thread to bring it to their attention. It's trending too so hopefully they will notice it.

MayBeeJuneSoon · 06/05/2023 08:11

We'll end up in the daily mail

Meh. I can’t summon the energy to find it offensive. It’s in the style of a caricature which would definitely highlight his big ears.

Irreverence about the royals is always a good thing imo.

What place does "caricature" have on a discussion forum? The whole point of MN is to articulate an opinion or argument. Not resort to personal mockery in the form of humourless graphics

Pixiedust1234 · 06/05/2023 01:18

Yes. I don't think its funny in the slightest. Poking fun at someone's physical appearance isn't cool.

Yep, and I bet the same people who think it’s funny are the ones who have ‘be kind’ plastered all over their social media. They mean be kind to them and their loved ones, totally okay to be a dick to everyone else

Whinge · 06/05/2023 08:13

They will notice, but they won't care. Even if we get some crap apology it will be we're sorry so many people found it in poor taste. They've shown their true colours, and clearly thought it was funny or they wouldn't have done it in the first place.

ExhaustedPigwidgeon · 06/05/2023 08:13

I can only assume the posters saying it’s comedy or it’s cute are just a bit thick. It’s not about Charles. It’s about the sort of childish mindset plaguing MNHQ where they’d think this sort of thing is appropriate.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 06/05/2023 08:14

Really disrespectful 😒

TroysMammy · 06/05/2023 08:14

lemonchiffonpie · 06/05/2023 01:41

It's not in the spirit of the site.

Correct

SquatBetty · 06/05/2023 08:14

I'm no fan of Charles or the monarchy in general but agree this logo is very mean spirited. Think you've misjudged this one, MNHQ

Timeforchangeithink · 06/05/2023 08:15

Mocking someone's physical appearance is never acceptable but then neither is using clipart type images in anything other than primary school.

PaltnSepper · 06/05/2023 08:15

Yeah, horrible to make fun of something he can't help.

But that IS a bit in the spirit of the site, really - MN loves to judge people and shame them for how they look. I never knew until I came here what other women must be thinking of me. It's kind of what MN is known for, isn't it.

BeenThereTooo · 06/05/2023 08:15

Definitely not in the spirit of the site! I thought personal attack was a big NO?

VisionsOfSplendour · 06/05/2023 08:16

Soontobe60 · 06/05/2023 07:51

Personally, I’m shocked at the number of people complaining! It’s fun, it’s comedy, it’s cute. Some of you need a sense of humour transplant.

If you or your child/children had an out of the ordinary aphysical feature would you really not mind that being highlighted in such a way? Imo you'd have to be exceptionally think skinned

Dontcallmescarface · 06/05/2023 08:16

NotBadConsidering · 06/05/2023 07:58

Personally, it’s the hypocrisy I can’t stand. Threads removed for “not in the spirit”, that ethereal standard we are meant to uphold, then somehow this logo is in the spirit despite it being much more childish and a personal attack than a lot of those removed threads.

Make your mind up, MNHQ.

Agree with this. Also it has now set a precedent Anyone can now mock a poster for their appearance without fear of deletion as @MNHQ has decided that it is ok and worse than that, it should be treated as a "joke".

As someone who has spent years being mocked about my appearance (the clue is in the username), to see MN clearly doing the same for the "laughs" is not on. If there is ever an apology no doubt it will have a "chill out it was only a bit of bantz" type ring to it.

AlexandriasWindmill · 06/05/2023 08:16

I'm not a monarchist. But I am someone who was bullied throughout school for my ears. The logo is mean and a crap design.
I can't help but think MN saw off the rogue intern but missed other staff who infiltrated with an agenda of shit moderation, a Tattle mentality and poor decision-making.

Good.
It might make MN actually listen for once (I normally hate the DM but perhaps they have they uses occasionally)

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 06/05/2023 08:16

Isn't it a personal attack?

Theluggage15 · 06/05/2023 08:17

Presumably threads mocking people’s personal appearance will be fine from now on, as they are promoting this type of subject with their logo.

CosmosQueen · 06/05/2023 08:17

Utterly appalling that anyone would consider this in any way appropriate 🤬

Megifer · 06/05/2023 08:17

user1492757084 · 06/05/2023 07:50

Not funny but not a surprise.
I would prefer a nature or tree related logo to make reference to the life's work King Charles has already done on environmetal sustainability and conservation of crafts, habitats and significant buildings and to reflect the framework his charities provide for young people to find skills, homes and employment and grow as contributing adults..

I don't see Charles being offended. He's a true Brit who can laugh at himself. I hope he's proud of those ears - they have served him well.

And they are a familiar identifying feature I have grown fond of seeing.

Or a horn to reflect his love of chasing and killing foxes.

Inuno · 06/05/2023 08:17

Disgraceful! Why hasn’t it been removed ?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/05/2023 08:17

Its not nice.
