Disclaimer: I’m not British and have no skin in the monarchy game, but I do think the ears are a bit much.

To think the Mumsnet coronation logo is quite mean?

It's really unkind and I hoped we had moved on from mocking someone's appearance.

Bad idea MNHQ

imnotyourlaughingstock · 06/05/2023 07:34

I'm disgusted and am no royalist. Can somebody DM me the link to the spinoff site that started a while back? I can't pretend that it's ok for me to be here anymore I feel complicit.

I AM NOT YOUR LAUGHING STOCK MNHQ.🖕

It's not a caricature to make a social or political point. That's different.
It's a Coronation logo, and, as such, it is puerile.

Agree

FlowersareEverything · 06/05/2023 07:34

It’s disgusting, like something a school bully would do. Very nasty.

RoseGoldEagle · 06/05/2023 07:38

Haven’t the ear comments been done do death by now? Agree with PPs that this kind of ‘humour’ is something that can really affect young people when it’s aimed at them, and we should be moving away from this. Hope mumsnet apologises for this.

Rosesbloomingnow · 06/05/2023 07:39

Really inappropriate

Quoronation · 06/05/2023 07:40

Yeah sorry I think they missed the mark here

Wrongsideofpennines · 06/05/2023 07:42

Not appropriate at all.

What if our next monarch is overweight, or has a limb difference, or has lost an eye or uses a wheelchair? Should we all be encouraged to augh at those distinguishing features?

It's called femvox. I'll try to work out how to send a link.

Mumsanetta · 06/05/2023 07:44

Mumsnet have missed the mark, again. What is driving all of these recent missteps? There was adding Sex to the active pages not long ago, the strange sex toy for uterus havers and now this.

I'd love to hear what you've got to say for yourselves @mnhq

Disgraceful.

Gymtastic · 06/05/2023 07:48

I also feel it’s distasteful . The old adage of if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all is apt in this scenario. They should have done nothing rather than take the piss. They aren’t spitting image.

Violetcrush · 06/05/2023 07:49

@JustJoinedRightNow i saw this and thought excavator the same! It’s mean!!

Polkadotties · 06/05/2023 07:49

Not funny at all. For a site who says they don’t tolerate bullying it’s disgusting

HamptonCaught · 06/05/2023 07:50

This doesn’t surprise me. MNHQ are a bunch of woke lefties so of course they’re anti monarchy. I’m no fan of Charles but the ear logo is a low blow.

IWantToBeACat · 06/05/2023 07:50

@MNHQ I'd like to add my voice to the those expressing distaste at the logo and I refer you to your own Talk Guidelines, in which the very first line is: No personal attacks.

It's mean and it's cruel and you are being the playground bully, and I can almost hear you whining, "But we were only jokiiiing... We didn't meeeannnn it! You have no sense of humour...!" No excuses! You are a being a mean bully. End of.

Mumsbed · 06/05/2023 07:50

It's rude and offensive. To Charles and every single person who has a physical feature that stands out form the norm.

I'm trying to wrap my head around the possible thought process (?) and decision making that may have gone into releasing this ghastly logo. I hope they'll take it down.

PenelopeTitsDrop3121 · 06/05/2023 07:50

Very mean. I'm sure they wouldn't allow it if it was a woman with big ears. What's the difference? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

user1492757084 · 06/05/2023 07:50

Not funny but not a surprise.
I would prefer a nature or tree related logo to make reference to the life's work King Charles has already done on environmetal sustainability and conservation of crafts, habitats and significant buildings and to reflect the framework his charities provide for young people to find skills, homes and employment and grow as contributing adults..

I don't see Charles being offended. He's a true Brit who can laugh at himself. I hope he's proud of those ears - they have served him well.

And they are a familiar identifying feature I have grown fond of seeing.

llamallama6384 · 06/05/2023 07:50

Tinkerbyebye · 06/05/2023 02:03

it’s nasty and @MNHQ should be ashamed of themselves

mocking someone for physical features is not on

Agreed.

Gymtastic · 06/05/2023 07:51

@mnhq just remove the ears and keep the crown, or remove it entirely. Mocking someone’s physical features is going to be heavily frowned on. And I can’t think your advertisers will like it at all

Soontobe60 · 06/05/2023 07:51

Personally, I’m shocked at the number of people complaining! It’s fun, it’s comedy, it’s cute. Some of you need a sense of humour transplant.

Whinge · 06/05/2023 07:51

A very good point that i'm sure MN will ignore, if they even comment on the situation at all.

CalpolDependant · 06/05/2023 07:52

I’m glad this thread is here. I saw the logo as soon as I logged on and thought “that’s a bit much”. To echo many PP, I do not care one way or another for the monarchy, but this is just mean and way too focused on appearance. Do you think Meghan paid them to do it?
