Disclaimer: I’m not British and have no skin in the monarchy game, but I do think the ears are a bit much.

To think the Mumsnet coronation logo is quite mean?

I hadn't noticed it until I saw this thread, and when I did, it made me chuckle.

Imo, it's in the spirit of caricature and no worse than the images of him created by the likes of Martin Rowson, Peter Brookes, Steve Bell or Spitting Image.

Caricature isn't body shaming, and people with a high public profile are used to being caricatured.

Your post illustrates precisely why MN have got it so wrong. Firstly because those cartoonists do pick a single physical characteristic to lampoon (like cheap comedians did in the past).
And secondly this is a discussion forum which prohibits personal attacks not a political or news publication.

🤣🤣🤣 I'm surprised they've done that, but I laughed.

Why, are you 5?

This doesn’t surprise me. MNHQ are a bunch of woke lefties so of course they’re anti monarchy. I’m no fan of Charles but the ear logo is a low blow.

By the lights of this site I'm a very woke extreme leftie and a republican. And I think it's inappropriate, nasty, and shameful. I'll take on the state any day, but I depend on logic, evidence and discourse - not offense and bullying.

MissHavershamReturns · 06/05/2023 08:32

Don’t like it. A someone who was teased for wearing glasses in the 80s I thought we’d moved past this.

Sorry @DarrellRiversCriminalBehaviourOrder meant to qoute post you replied to.

No problem, easily done.

Scautish · 06/05/2023 08:32

I wonder how many at MNHQ were bullied?

Meh. I don’t like Charles or the Royals so don’t care, probably wouldn’t have noticed had this thread not existed.

But many do, have noticed and do care.
Point still remains, mocking people for their appearance isn't right.

RegainingTheWill2023 · 06/05/2023 08:33

Cartoonists do NOT pick a single physical characteristic my post should say

PaltnSepper · 06/05/2023 08:33

MammaTo · 06/05/2023 08:24

As soon as I seen it I thought ooh I wonder how long the moaning will take to appear. I’m sure Charles is reeling in his palace that the mumsnet logo is kicking him.

But the point isn't that Charles would ever see it, or care.
The point is that it continues to encourage mocking and shaming of physical attributes, which is harmful to a lot of people. I know MN is known for that and likes to be seen as a bit harsh and brutal, but it's really not great to be telling people how acceptable it is to make fun of someone - royal or not.

Emotionalstorm · 06/05/2023 08:33

People lack respect in general.

Mumsbed · 06/05/2023 08:33

It's a very uncomfortable reminder of 'hooked nose' type of caricatures. While it isn't racist in Charles' context, the visual language used is highly questionable and has many unpleasant connotations 😦

winewolfhowls · 06/05/2023 08:34

Agreed. I'm not really overly fond of the monarchy let Charles have this one day you bastards, he's been waiting long enough! 😄

florentina1 · 06/05/2023 08:34

Why is this still being used when it is horribly cruel. If anyone has been following the life story of the King, they will know he has been extensively bullied. Such a nasty mean spirited logo.

GoodChat · 06/05/2023 08:34

100s of threads about people get deleted because they're not nice. It doesn't matter if they're never going to see them. It's still shit arse behaviour.

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 06/05/2023 08:34

Perhaps as we're all discussing this calmly MNHQ will keep ignoring the thread

Maybe we need some 'not in the spirit' posts so they can't deny the saw us

Maireas · 06/05/2023 08:34

@PaltnSepper - this.

afterdropshock · 06/05/2023 08:35

It's horrible.

Fairydustandsparklylights · 06/05/2023 08:35

Of course it’s not funny. But mumsnet are a bunch of hypocrites. They will mock our monarch but if someone doesn’t like your post, despite not being offensive, they will delete it because the other person didn’t agree with your viewpoint.

Interesting as it implies you straight away knew it was questionable.

If someone is being bullied online, at work or school behind their back, does it make it ok?

Dontcallmescarface · 06/05/2023 08:36

For those saying they don't understand the issue with the logo how would you feel about MN putting huge tits on the logo on IWD...acceptable or not?

ToHellBackAndBeyond · 06/05/2023 08:36

It's pathetic and disrespectful.

Saracen · 06/05/2023 08:37

Yes, it's unpleasant. I'm not interested in the royal family, but this logo does give the message that it's okay to taunt people about their physical appearance. By all means give people a hard time if they don't behave well, but not because you think their ears look funny.

slowquickstep · 06/05/2023 08:39

One poster on here was told off by MNHQ for calling someone a plonker yet here we have the very same people poking fun at someone's physical appearance/ I think MNHQ have more face than the townhall clock. Time for those in the ivory tower to publicly apologise and for them to put their hands into their own pocket and make a large donation to a national children's charity.

UsherBobble · 06/05/2023 08:39

It is disgusting to be honest and I think Mumsnet should know better. Very disappointing.

RegainingTheWill2023 · 06/05/2023 08:40

Monarchists might find no royal logo disrespectful on coronation day but the rest of us wouldn't have given a shiny shit.
MN chose not to ignore the Coronation but instead chose to mock a man's ears ....
