Disclaimer: I’m not British and have no skin in the monarchy game, but I do think the ears are a bit much.

The good thing about this thread is it’s alerted me to femvox which I hadn’t heard about before and looks good Smile

I hadn't noticed it until I saw this thread, and when I did, it made me chuckle.

Imo, it's in the spirit of caricature and no worse than the images of him created by the likes of Martin Rowson, Peter Brookes, Steve Bell or Spitting Image.

Caricature isn't body shaming, and people with a high public profile are used to being caricatured.

Caricature covers a person's entire face. It doesn't reduce them down to one body part. Political cartoons are making a political point and criticising a public figure's actions.

This isn't an anti-monarchy satire. It's literally "big ears, herp derp".

FMLWTF · 06/05/2023 08:18

How puerile. Who authorised that?

MayBeeJuneSoon · 06/05/2023 08:19

Someone did it knowing weekend will be minimum staff so it won't be removed anytime soon

MayBeeJuneSoon · 06/05/2023 08:20

Report report report

They will notice

melj1213 · 06/05/2023 08:20

At best it's a badly thought out and immature "joke" that has missed the mark

At worst it's an inappropriate message that you can mock people's appearance based on physical attributes you have no control over. @

Either way it's very disappointing to see such a mean stunt pulled by MNHQ

Mortimercat · 06/05/2023 08:20

Yes it is pretty rude.

Wellhowdeedoo · 06/05/2023 08:21

Poor effort - lazy attempt at ‘humour’

Quoronation · 06/05/2023 08:21

Not being funny but is ears aren't even that prominent a feature

Sartre · 06/05/2023 08:22

Meh. I don’t like Charles or the Royals so don’t care, probably wouldn’t have noticed had this thread not existed.

RosettaTheGardenFairy · 06/05/2023 08:22

Me too - I hadn't heard of it, nice to have an alternative, hope it's less brutal

MammaTo · 06/05/2023 08:24

As soon as I seen it I thought ooh I wonder how long the moaning will take to appear. I’m sure Charles is reeling in his palace that the mumsnet logo is kicking him.

Qilin · 06/05/2023 08:24

It's not nice.
If the logo needed to be altered to recognise the coronation, just add the crown.

Why the need to add the ears? It's just not necessary to mock someone based on physical appearance.

Children are teased at school about things like this. As a parenting website, they shouldn't be encouraging it. Child I teach is 5y and gets upset about his ears due to teasing (bullying) and is already talking about how he can get rid of them. He is only 5 and already upset by his appearance.

MrsCarson · 06/05/2023 08:25

It is in poor taste. Even when I dislike someone I wouldn't make fun their appearance.

This was in response to having discovered Femvox through this thread

I signed up there because if nothing else, it's a site for women. Not creeps, not trolls, not advertisers, not whatever the hell this logo is meant to be about. I figure if we can't support each other then what can we do?

But it's a sunny day and I need to do something other than stew over a juvenile logo dreamt up on a Friday night.

RightyThen · 06/05/2023 08:26

MNHQ so hypocritical it’s ridiculous. I’ve been using the site less and less due to their policing and ‘not in the spirit of the site’ business constantly. Than this openly mocking someone based on appearance.

MNHQ do better

BringItBackBruno · 06/05/2023 08:27

Wow, that logo is nasty. Who on Earth gave that the ok?

Maireas · 06/05/2023 08:28

@yougottawonder - absolutely!

So if others have done it, then it's ok to mock someone?

Maireas · 06/05/2023 08:29

Completely non brutal, @RosettaTheGardenFairy

RunningRunningRunningRunningRunning · 06/05/2023 08:29

🤣🤣🤣 I'm surprised they've done that, but I laughed.

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 06/05/2023 08:30

Sorry @DarrellRiversCriminalBehaviourOrder meant to qoute post you replied to.

userlotsanumbers · 06/05/2023 08:31

Are the toddlers in control at MNHQ? Who thought that was a good idea?

I’d probably have read the room and not fronted up to inform everyone you laugh at peoples physical features, let’s see a picture of you then.
