Disclaimer: I’m not British and have no skin in the monarchy game, but I do think the ears are a bit much.

To think the Mumsnet coronation logo is quite mean?

No, it's mildly funny. I'm sure Chazza won't mind or even see it.

Pixiedust1234 · 06/05/2023 01:18

Yes. I don't think its funny in the slightest. Poking fun at someone's physical appearance isn't cool.

ButtonMoonLoon · 06/05/2023 01:18

I'm not at all impressed either.
'Very immature' was my first impression of it!

Yes, I agree. It's not funny.

Catsmere · 06/05/2023 01:21

That was my first thought, too. Not funny. Straight out of The Goodies (who I loved … when I was 14).

CanadianJohn · 06/05/2023 01:22

It's been obvious for some time that "Tech Support" is a high-school computing class. This is exactly the sort of juvenile prank I'd expect from teenagers.

Toucan123 · 06/05/2023 01:31

It's really unimaginative, unfunny and poorly executed. I'm sure there are plenty of talented designers out there who could have come up with something much better (which doesn't involve mocking someone's physical appearance).

MrsTerryPratchett · 06/05/2023 01:32

No I don't really like it. But then I don't really like the royals so nothing would have been my preference.

WordtoYoMumma · 06/05/2023 01:35

Lol

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 01:35

I hadn't even noticed it until this thread.
Its fine.

WaxingGibbon · 06/05/2023 01:40

I hadn't noticed it until this thread.
It isn't fine, it's puerile and dated. Mocking someone's physical appearance isn't funny.

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 01:41

I guess you all want something more servile instead?

lemonchiffonpie · 06/05/2023 01:41

It's not in the spirit of the site.

SemperIdem · 06/05/2023 01:43

I’m not pro-monarchy, even slightly - but think this is poor and to be honest, wouldn’t have expected such juvenile jibs.

I agree 100%. Very puerile. And not funny at all.

JustJoinedRightNow · 06/05/2023 01:45

There was a whole thread the other day where a woman wanted to put big ears on her daughter’s crown that she had to take in this week to school. Everyone told her off for shaming King Charles and pointing out how other children with larger ears might feel.

How did mumsnet not see that thread and see that the general consensus is that the majority of us don’t agree with poking fun at people’s appearance??

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 01:41

The option to not mock his physical appearance was there for the taking.

I’m no cap doffing boot locker but I think making fun of someone’s “big ears” is incredibly childish

This. It’s really not in the so-called SOTS.

I was just about to say the same as you.

I agree with previous posters... the logo has been misjudged. Someone needs to remove the ears ASAP!

What a stupid question! It doesn’t have to be a cruel mockery of someone’s appearance that is no fault of their own or a fawning servile effort. There is some distance between the two.

I agree with pp, whether you’re for or against the monarchy, this looks juvenile and quite frankly cringe. Poor show mumsnet Biscuit

DejaVoodoo · 06/05/2023 01:48

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 01:41

There's a petty massive chasm between mocking someone's appearance, and being servile to them. 🙄

WaxingGibbon · 06/05/2023 01:49

I'm fairly indifferent about the monarchy so I'm not arguing for servility askmemore, just something that isn't representative or condoning of mocking a person's physical characteristics.

MonsterFiesta · 06/05/2023 01:50

I don’t like the monarchy as an institution.

I don’t like Charles as a person.

Its a really shitty and mean logo.

Yfory · 06/05/2023 01:52

Its nasty. Imagine it was a kid we were talking about and their entire school decided that this one kid should be represented by a badge similar to that - with huge sticky out ears just because that kid happened to have big sticky out ears. Nasty bullying and not ok.

DramaAlpaca · 06/05/2023 01:54

lemonchiffonpie · 06/05/2023 01:41

That's exactly it.
