Disclaimer: I’m not British and have no skin in the monarchy game, but I do think the ears are a bit much.

To think the Mumsnet coronation logo is quite mean?
OP posts:
PauseMenopause · 06/05/2023 06:41

I’m fiercely anti-royal but I find that logo exceptionally nasty and mocking. Horrible - and does not reflect well on the designer and whoever approved it. I would not like to meet such unkind people in real life.

ShandaLear · 06/05/2023 06:42

Haha! That’s brilliant. Should be on his coat of arms.

TakeMe2Insanity · 06/05/2023 06:42

I initially thought it was a slice of bread a bizarre statement re the timing. I liked that. Ears, thats just poking fun and frankly not in the spirit of things - a mothers site that pokes fun of physical differences. Fyi not a charles fan.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 06/05/2023 06:43

Nasty.

What a stupid question! It doesn’t have to be a cruel mockery of someone’s appearance that is no fault of their own or a fawning servile effort. There is some distance between the two.

I agree with pp, whether you’re for or against the monarchy, this looks juvenile and quite frankly cringe. Poor show mumsnet Biscuit

This.

sashh · 06/05/2023 06:44

It made me smile.

Crumbcatcher · 06/05/2023 06:47

Thanks for starting a thread OP, I was shocked at the logo when I opened MN. It's needlessly mean. What happened to "In a world where you can be anything, be kind"?

clpsmum · 06/05/2023 06:48

I think it's quite mean the billionaire is forcing the tax payers to pay for his £250m bullshit party

Nerdsarecoolwhatdoyoumean · 06/05/2023 06:49

The logo is disgusting.

Mocking someone's physical appearance is never okay. We have had enough sad stories and terrible outcomes, of how bullying someone over their looks especially on socal media/public forum affects them. Obviously King Charles won't see this, but what example is it setting for others on here, young people that come to this site.
I was bullied for having ears that stuck out, this led to me getting them pinned back, as a child.

Reasonableadjustments · 06/05/2023 06:51

I didn't see this thread. I've just started a thread in site stuff. I don't think this is ok.

Catlord · 06/05/2023 06:52

I was wondering whether there was a thread on this. I agree. Not a royalist at all but I don't think a parenting site should be mocking someone's appearance, especially when it's a feature he's had a lot of stick about over the years. Not a good example except to school bullies. A swing and a miss, MN.

sparklefresh · 06/05/2023 06:55

It's horrible.

ilovesooty · 06/05/2023 06:55

MonsterFiesta · 06/05/2023 01:50

I don’t like the monarchy as an institution.

I don’t like Charles as a person.

Its a really shitty and mean logo.

Absolutely.

Mumsbed · 06/05/2023 06:59

lemonchiffonpie · 06/05/2023 01:41

It's not in the spirit of the site.

Agreed, it's puerile and unsophisticated. I suppose any perceived creativity now goes into smile maker promos.

The logo is caricature like and cheap.

QuintanaRoo · 06/05/2023 06:59

Hardly seems “in the spirit” which is the term MN throw around when deleting threads they feel are a bit mean. Needs removing.

maddiemookins16mum · 06/05/2023 07:01

It’s silly. But then again any excuse to have a go at a bloke. Would they have done it if a Queen was being crowned??

NotAnotherBathBomb · 06/05/2023 07:02

Oh dear. Given the post the other day where the majority of posters thought than an OP shouting send her child in with a crown with big ears, I'm surprised they've done it.

Im not a royalist but I don't think that matters, I don't think making a joke out of someone's appearance is funny

Roselilly36 · 06/05/2023 07:03

Yes, .I agree, I am not a royalist, but I think it’s out of line, not fun, just rude.

NotAnotherBathBomb · 06/05/2023 07:03

clpsmum · 06/05/2023 06:48

Same, but the 2 are in no way related.

JulesJules · 06/05/2023 07:05

It's really "Not in the spirit"

Gtsr443 · 06/05/2023 07:06

Blimey this is suddenly the Daily Mail comments section.

I'm beginning to think "not in the spirit" translates as " we didn't find this funny so we've deleted it".

HBGKC · 06/05/2023 07:08

Toucan123 · 06/05/2023 01:31

It's really unimaginative, unfunny and poorly executed. I'm sure there are plenty of talented designers out there who could have come up with something much better (which doesn't involve mocking someone's physical appearance).

This.

And I'm pretty sure MN isn't supposed to take a political position (which this kind of personal ridicule clearly reflects).

Quveas · 06/05/2023 07:08

AskMeMore · 06/05/2023 01:41

I guess you all want something more servile instead?

I have never supported the monarchy. I can argue my position for their abolition cogently and with a firm factual basis. I don't need to poke fun at anyone because of what they look like. If MN thought this was funny, they have missed the mark. It's offensive.

amidsummernightsdream · 06/05/2023 07:10

Really awful. Im no royalist but its in such poor taste. Take it down mumsnet. Shame on you
