To be a bit excited about the 3pm alarm?

I'm interested to hear what it sounds like. For it to be going off all over the country at once, in all households and shops is exciting.

It's something completely new and feels kinda like something from Black mirror.

Maybe I'm just weird 😂

I like a national event! I’m weird like you 😄

CaroleSinger · 23/04/2023 13:39

I switched mine off. Let me know what I'm missing..

WhatNoRaisins · 23/04/2023 13:40

We had several during a US holiday, Amber alert for a child. Wonder how it will compare.

Emigratingimmigrant · 23/04/2023 13:42

I have alarm set to sit in a garden😂 I am planning on counting "ffs gave me a fright" screams

NeverTrustAPoliceman · 23/04/2023 13:43

I'm quite looking forward to it too. I'm happy about it, no anxiety problems or another phone to hide, so for me it's an interesting experience. DH and I will both have our phones on and ready.

Having had a relative survive an event due to getting a warning in another country I'm just pleased that the UK is finally catching up.

nochangeever · 23/04/2023 13:45

Eh? Have i missed something?

Florissant · 23/04/2023 13:45

If that's weird I don't want to be normal!

Erex · 23/04/2023 13:46

I have turned mine off (anxiety and panic disorder, not because I think it's a bad idea), but DP hasn't. Quite interested to see if we'll hear neighbours' alarms too, and what it will sound like. It's not so bad because I know this one is coming. 😂

It just makes me think of that episode of Dr Who where everyone stops simultaneously while they're updated with the weather and news and daily joke - but I think this alarm is a good thing.

TobiasForgesContactLense · 23/04/2023 13:46

Have booked to take DS to a soft play session between 2.30 and 4pm. Wondering whether anyone will hear it over the usual cacophony of soft play.

Just realised that means DH will be at home with his personal phone plus our 2 work phones all going off at once.

Mustardandchickensandwiches · 23/04/2023 13:46

Currently in a trampoline park until 3pm.

Should be fun in here 😂

DH works in ikea, they've all been briefed to deal with potential mass panic.

RichardHeed · 23/04/2023 13:46

I keep forgetting so it’s going to make me jump I know it

I'm the same OP!

I'm planning on going to my local supermarket for 3pm just to hear them all go off / see the public reaction! 🚨

Yes, but I'm not sure how.

JaninaDuszejko · 23/04/2023 13:50

I know I'll scream, I'm stupidly jumpy. Agree it's kind of cool though. Dd2 is on a DoE expedition so they'll all be caught out with their phones on I suspect 😂 .

Same! I’m going round to a friends for the occasion

eddiemairswife · 23/04/2023 13:51

Will it sound like an air raid siren? I can remember those.

TokyoSushi · 23/04/2023 13:52

Ha! Yes me too! DM has just messaged to say she's going to be in a garden centre at 3pm and is quite looking forward to seeing what happens!

BunnyFun · 23/04/2023 13:52

It'll be funny if Putin decides to nuke us at 5 to 3 and they have to set the alarm off 5 minutes early and everyone will go, "fecking government, they couldn't even get the timing right! ... did anyone hear a bang?"

Heroicallyfound · 23/04/2023 13:53

I’m intrigued to see what it’s like. I’ll prob forget 10 mins before 3pm and get a fright!

Cabdiraxman · 23/04/2023 13:53

Shout happy new year. I'm also concerned that hooligans will treat this as a chance to riot and loot shops.

toomuchlaundry · 23/04/2023 13:53

How can people have missed this?

Mustardandchickensandwiches · 23/04/2023 13:54

Cabdiraxman · 23/04/2023 13:53

😂 Please, let's all go somewhere public and collectively agree to scream HAPPY NEW YEAR !

RoseBucket · 23/04/2023 13:55

I’m thinking of taking the dog for a walk so I can pretend I’d forgotten about it and exclaim ‘surprise’ while a listening for others going off.
