To be a bit excited about the 3pm alarm?

I'm interested to hear what it sounds like. For it to be going off all over the country at once, in all households and shops is exciting.

It's something completely new and feels kinda like something from Black mirror.

Maybe I'm just weird 😂

Just heading round to DPs as I don't know whether DM phone is compatible or not and I do know that she will be very distressed if it goes off.

Mine was safely disabled as soon as it was added to my phone update a t least a year ago.

It'll be funny if Putin decides to nuke us at 5 to 3 and they have to set the alarm off 5 minutes early and everyone will go, "fecking government, they couldn't even get the timing right! ... did anyone hear a bang?"

🤣

RoseBucket · 23/04/2023 13:57

My daughter will be in a train, that might be interesting if it’s busy in a confined space!

Decafflatteplease · 23/04/2023 13:58

DC is in a st George day parade at 3pm will be lots of people lining the route will be interesting if everyone's phones alert!

wigywhoo · 23/04/2023 14:01

@Decafflatteplease our service is such that parade is over but the alert will go
off during the service Grin

We had several during a US holiday, Amber alert for a child. Wonder how it will compare.

Same - first time I heard it I wondered what was going on as everyone's phones went off at the same time. Had them since over in the US.

Weren't particularly loud iirr but were noticeable,

CalpolDependant · 23/04/2023 14:04

I’m a tiny bit excited too. Can’t help myself. I feel like such a nutter. Wish I’d NC for this.

itsgettingweird · 23/04/2023 14:04

Ds and I joked about going out somewhere just to see if it really does alarm everyone 🤣

But we aren't even dressed and have no intention of actually leaving the house 🫣

eddiemairswife · 23/04/2023 13:51

Will it sound like an air raid siren? I can remember those.

The Ines in the US were not as loud as that, nor as long. Just a normal phone alert type sound. Message appeared on the screen but could be swiped away, as with normal notifications,

Oh my word.

Now that is one I'm hoping gets caught on camera 🤣

megletthesecond · 23/04/2023 14:06

I'm glad I'm not in the IT team setting the alarm off. I was just saying to DS that I hope they've got the deactivation part working properly, what if we hit "cancel" and it comes back 🤦‍♀️.

OP, why you want to live in Black Mirror is beyond me.

Oh no, hope everything gets solved asap.

toomuchlaundry · 23/04/2023 14:11

@Decafflatteplease DS's old scout group is having their St George's Day event at 3. Part of me wishing we could be there, instead we have to pick him up from work at that time

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 23/04/2023 14:11

I've deliberately timed my trip out to the town centre to be here when it goes off as I want to see what it's like (and how many people have it switched on/off).

ThinWomansBrain · 23/04/2023 14:11

curious - a bit
excited? - you need to get out more😋

Oh I'm glad it's not just me! Haha. I really want to be out somewhere at 3pm, but we've got nowhere to go today and DH will definitely laugh at me if I say anything 😂
Might just "nip out to the shops"!

TarasHarp55 · 23/04/2023 14:17

I do feel a bit concerned for those that don't know about it or forgotten and they're in bed after a night shift or poorly, or driving on a motorway, the shock of it. Some people with bad anxiety problems could be a concern too.

I might have a quick trip to Tesco. I wonder if it'll be full of chaos chasers?

I've already had a few of these practise alerts, although I'm not sure how I ended up in a test group, and the alarm is dramatically loud. Best one yet was when I was reading about the gun fighting at the Chernobyl plant and it went off. Dropped a brick that time.

Mustardandchickensandwiches · 23/04/2023 13:46

Currently in a trampoline park until 3pm.

Should be fun in here 😂

DH works in ikea, they've all been briefed to deal with potential mass panic.

Tell me you're joking. Mass panic over a phone alarm? 🙄

HelpMeGetThrough · 23/04/2023 14:24

I've got one of the old iPhone SEs, so it's probably so old, it won't work on mine.

GroovyGangConscript · 23/04/2023 14:25

I'm excited - already made sure phone is fully charged so I don't miss it.
