To not get rid of the hot tub?

We use the hot tub in the evenings, usually from 9PM-10PM. It does get quite loud but we only use it of an evening.
However, noticed next door neighbour is clearly not happy about it. Keeps looking out the window, opening and then slamming the windows and today told me the sound is carrying and stopping her from enjoying her evening especially as the noise is so distracting. Aibu to say we are hardly in it all day and that we aren't getting rid of it?

It's incredibly selfish to be using it regularly that late in the evening when people may be trying to sleep.

Ihatepainting · 15/04/2023 22:23

You get in your hot tub for an hour each night? 😂

HeckyPeck · 15/04/2023 22:23

You don't need to get rid of it. Could you not just use it earlier in the evening?

PriamFarrl · 15/04/2023 22:24

It’s a bloody annoying noise.

ToastandJamandTea · 15/04/2023 22:25

I think you are being quite selfish here OP.
Couldn't you use it earlier or less frequently during the week and then later at weekends?
I would probably pop over and apologise to the neighbour and explain you didn't realise it was causing such a disturbance for them.

Octonaut4Life · 15/04/2023 22:26

Being outdoors making noise regularly from 9pm - 10pm is incredibly antisocial, I feel very sorry for your neighbor. If you're going to use it regularly it needs to be earlier in the evening, or much less frequently that late.

Yes, you are definitely BU. Massively so.

You know this though.

YABVU and really selfish.

If I was her and you refused to compromise I would make it a really unpleasant experience for you each and every time and play loud music out the window while you were in it.

mainsfed · 15/04/2023 22:28

YANBU to use it, noise is part and parcel of living.

An hour a day is fair use, but could you change it to 8-9pm or earlier?

That’s not very kind.

Is this a reverse?

Wow an hour a day! It must cost a fortune to keep it heated?! (Misses point of thread)

Dragonsandcats · 15/04/2023 22:31

YABU, they’re really loud.

Sex pond

Urgh gross, why assume this?

ConsuelaHammock · 15/04/2023 22:32

Yes it’s very selfish behaviour if it’s close enough to your neighbour’s house so that they can hear it.

anxiouslemons · 15/04/2023 22:32

Ew people soup.

I believe Chavvy Sex Pond is the full name for them on MN.

I must be a peasant because I don't know if they are noisy or not.

Disneyblueeyes · 15/04/2023 22:33

I mean there's worse 'noise' than a hot tub disturbing your evening. Unless you're talking loudly too.
Wouldn't bother me.

But hey, it bothers them, so maybe not every night?

FelicityBeedle · 15/04/2023 22:34

Just don’t turn on the bubbles?

That’s not very kind.

Neither is using a hot tub late most evenings and refusing to consider your neighbour.

Two can play at that game.

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 15/04/2023 22:35

Yeah, that would piss me off. Use it earlier, or move it further away from her house.

Trampolines and hot tubs placed near to neighbours fences are just the biggest fuck you ever 🤣

CC4712 · 15/04/2023 22:36

It does get quite loud but we only use it of an evening.

This is your own description! I imagine it seems twice as loud and annoying from your neighbours point of view. Clearly a reverse or someone completely oblivious to their obnoxious, antisocial behaviours!
