To not get rid of the hot tub?

SunsetsInVenice · 15/04/2023 22:20

We use the hot tub in the evenings, usually from 9PM-10PM. It does get quite loud but we only use it of an evening.
However, noticed next door neighbour is clearly not happy about it. Keeps looking out the window, opening and then slamming the windows and today told me the sound is carrying and stopping her from enjoying her evening especially as the noise is so distracting. Aibu to say we are hardly in it all day and that we aren't getting rid of it?

Is it a proper hot tub or a blow up one ? Blow ups are incredibly noisy.
Are you in there alone or with others ? People talking over the noise or music on ? - YABVVVU

Are you neighbours considerate and quiet themselves?

SunsetsInVenice · 15/04/2023 23:20

Make fun all you want.
We just can't win. It's a proper hot tub and we don't have music on, no. We do talk and often have friends round who also use it with us. It's not an all day thing and we aren't yelling in there.

Presumably ndn has 23 hours without your hot tub noise?
Crack on op.
And I actually don't like hot tubs. But her right to not having one in doesn't outweigh your right to use one. On your own property... You crack on..

Yeah with that attitude and lack of willingness to compromise you wouldn’t enjoy it if I was your neighbour.

BeetleBailey · 15/04/2023 23:30

Sounds chavvy

Moveoverdarlin · 15/04/2023 23:30

Have you been getting in it all winter? If someone asked me at 9pm to get off the sofa, put a bikini on and pop in the adult bubbly paddling pool outside, I wouldn’t do it if you paid me. I just can’t see the appeal at all.

Myjobisanightmare · 15/04/2023 23:37

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 15/04/2023 22:35

Yeah, that would piss me off. Use it earlier, or move it further away from her house.

Trampolines and hot tubs placed near to neighbours fences are just the biggest fuck you ever 🤣

And wind chimes let’s not forget those god forsaken things I can’t remember the last time I went into my garden without earphones to block them out

ShippingForecastMeditator · 15/04/2023 23:40

You sound as annoying as my neighbours who are currently singing a medley of Meatloaf songs following their return from the pub (presumably). People don't generally like to have noise forced on them when they're trying to relax OP. Every day's a school day eh?

strawberrysunrise · 15/04/2023 23:41

Light the touch paper and stand well back....

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 15/04/2023 23:42

If this is real…

I think the obvious thing is to use it much earlier in the day. That’s very late for a lot of noise in the garden, esp if it’s every day.

Can't win? Those things shouldn't be allowed if close to neighbours. You won already.

how about you use it earlier?

HarrietStyles · 15/04/2023 23:47

You obviously don’t need to get rid of it. You just need to use it earlier in the evening if you are within hearing distance of your neighbours. Lots of people go to bed between 9-10pm. I’d be fuming if you were my neighbour, disturbing my children’s sleep EVERY NIGHT. I think up until 8.30/9pm is the latest I would consider it acceptable on a weeknight. Maybe 9-10 at the weekends.

YOU can’t win?? Are you for real? It’s your neighbours who can’t win. They’re living next door to noisy selfish chavs. They can’t enjoy their own garden on a summer evening. I hate people who inflict their noise on others. Try to think of someone else and not yourself OP.

Soundproof it and then you won't be annoying anyone

How do you soundproof a hot tub? Serious question.

Ukelele101 · 15/04/2023 23:52

I was thinking the same! I’ve just kept mine filtering away for about 9 months…..far too expensive to heat!

If you are using it every evening and presumably are chatting away under someone's window that will get annoying real fast.

Just have a bit of consideration. Don't use it every night, use it earlier or maybe just keep the jets off and be quiet once in a while.

Schnooze · 15/04/2023 23:55

I’m afraid I’d be rather disgruntled with you. It’s quite late for noise so frequently.

CherryBlossom321 · 15/04/2023 23:58

It’s only an hour a day. I’d much prefer that to the cacophony of lockdown dogs who bark for hours on end in my neighbours’ gardens. Also 9-10 isn’t late.

SD1978 · 15/04/2023 23:59

Are these things really that loud they destroy all family pleasure? I live in cross proximity to swimming pools and hot tubs and can't say I give a crap about the sound of the motor- it's front which you tune out with everyday family noise from your own home surely?!

Agree. I’d absolutely hate to live next door to you.

Marchsnowstorms · 15/04/2023 23:59

I have mates with a hot tub. Kids go in it often. Never noticed any noise from tub itself at all.
I have middle aged neighbours who in summer months sit drinking & chatting with mates in garden most eves. Older neighbours on other side are same with their kids & grandkids.
I don't see much difference and don't think 9-10 is late

Marchsnowstorms · 16/04/2023 00:02

My kids are early high school. I prob make more noise yelling at them to turn screens off and go bed before 11pm
