The daily fail have really gone after Thomas Cashman's partner in the paper today, painting her as a gangsters moll.

Do you think she really knew what he was up to? What's the feeling in Liverpool towards her?

AIBU to feel sorry for his kids and wonder what kind of life they will have now? his son and daughter are also victims in this horrible tragedy now. It's so sad.

You're seriously sanctimonious for someone who isn't necessarily in the right, @JackiePlace

Thank you.

Before clicking on this I knew what she would look like. Very classy 'Kayleeanne'. I live in Merseyside and these trashy people are everywhere.

Isn't it a ridiculous name?

Her parents have a lot to answer for. Why would anyone call a child Kayleeanne if they didn't want her to become a drug dealer's moll?

Listened to too much Marillion, said it in the local accent and then stuck Anne on the end. Kayleeeeeeeee-anne. I'm surprised it's not hyphenated. I can only guess what kind of background she's from.

I’m sorry @Whichnumbers but the police need to change their priorities and take these people down. That includes using their own forensic accountants.

its what they already do, but there is more criminal activity than they can cope with, its not going to happen.

Ive been to work today after a month away and in that time we've had a new member of staff start and been sacked as they're a coke head, there are many around and we even have training on how to spot customers that are taking coke.

Target the consumers, supply and demand - yet if we call the police we get told its not their problem. Steve even had people dealing and told the police, only to be told its all part of a bigger operation and they don't want the small fry or to ruffle them either

user146539089 · 02/04/2023 16:21

Totally wrong @Whichnumbers That’s been tried and doesn’t work. Take out the top men not the users.

onirgellep · 02/04/2023 16:43

It's not just the Merseyside police who don't act against dealers

I used to visit friends who lived in a village in N Wales - on the edge of the village was a large house surrounded by 8 foot walls and patrolled by security with dogs - there were also dogs lose in the garden and CCTV everywhere

The guy who lived there was reputedly a big dealer from Liverpool and was much loathed by the locals

It wasn't a discreet set-up by any means but seemed to be invisible to the local police

Whichnumbers · 02/04/2023 18:54

user146539089 what you are suggesting is what the police are doing, but I don't see that working?

user146539089 · 02/04/2023 19:19

They’re really not doing that @Whichnumbers What makes you think differently?

OldFan · 02/04/2023 19:28

Obviously it isn't the right thing to dobut his motivation for doing it may have been 'good'.

@JackiePlace Really? You mean Cashman? He could just've got a normal job like others at any time. And it wasn't victimless crime, the drugs, he'd supposedly probably involved with killing yet more people etc.

OldFan · 02/04/2023 19:32

@JackiePlace It's more accurate to think of everyone as born with some degree of a tendency to be red in tooth and claw. Children are basically animals until they are socialised by their parents etc.

To be the most generous- some people don't have an upbringing that encourages them to be decent, so trying to behave well is more alien to them.

Whichnumbers · 02/04/2023 20:57

I said in my previous post, the reaction to calling the police over drug dealing in my place of work and there attitude was not to do anything as they're after the people at the top - which is wha you said they should be doing and I am disagreeing due to it not seemingly working enough

user146539089 · 02/04/2023 21:22

I’m sorry @Whichnumbers but the police are not doing enough to take out the top men. That’s well accepted and the reason why we still have a huge problem with drugs in the UK.

megletthesecond · 02/04/2023 22:03

They don't seem to get the people at the top though. We had six years of constantly reporting drug dealing. The only one attested was one of the lads who is now inside for a few years.
I was always told they wanted to get bigger people up the chain but it didn't seem to happen. I wish they'd just arrest them as soon as there is a problem. Make the dealers lives difficult.

user146539089 · 02/04/2023 22:42

That’s exactly right @megletthesecond

Doesn't everyone do what they believe to be "decent" or the right thing? Who wakes up and thinks "I'm going to be the biggest scumbag I can be , today"...?
Some of those people may be mistaken, admitttedly.

SpreadableCheeseOnEverything · 02/04/2023 23:40

I totally agree about drug dealers just getting away with it. In my town there are several people that are known drug dealers. It's common knowledge. They all live luxurious lifestyles.

As I mentioned upthread one of them is currently serving a prison sentence but the others have been getting away with it for years. The police literally aren't bothered about it. One of them has a wife that's a wannabe influencer and flaunts their lifestyle online.

VeryApple · 02/04/2023 23:48

@JackiePlace no, no they don't. I wish I lived in your world, it sounds lovely.

Branding the murderer "scum", "insance" etc is just a convenient and easy way to find an explanation for what happened without thinking about it too much.

Human beings are more complicated than that.

VeryApple · 03/04/2023 00:37

@JackiePlace there has been plenty of exploration on this thread - by people with real knowledge and understanding of the culture around this - way beyond that. It's lovely you think everyone acts with a pure heart but it's not true.

OldFan · 03/04/2023 01:15

Doesn't everyone do what they believe to be "decent" or the right thing?

@JackiePlace Rly? No I don't think Cashman for instance thought killing the particular people he killed was morally right. Or all the threatening people etc. He would've known it was wrong. But it was useful as part of his drugs/crime empire for money and power.

OldFan · 03/04/2023 01:20

@JackiePlace It's an interesting exercise to try and follow a particular specific moral code. For instance to follow Christianity for real according to the book's rules, ten commandments and new testament extras.

It becomes soo clear how much you lie, how much you're selfish etc etc.
