The daily fail have really gone after Thomas Cashman's partner in the paper today, painting her as a gangsters moll.

Do you think she really knew what he was up to? What's the feeling in Liverpool towards her?

AIBU to feel sorry for his kids and wonder what kind of life they will have now? his son and daughter are also victims in this horrible tragedy now. It's so sad.

I know Mumsnet wont like this but some women are just cunts in the same way that some men are. Not all women are victims ffs.

I really dont know why there is such a lack of acknowledgement of this

This site in particular is really bad for it, it disempowers women for a start,, takes away agency and choice. Perpetuates this myth that woman are victims all their lives of circumstance.

I think its that typcial middle class saviour mentality, completely illogical and patronising.

It's difficult to earn £5k a week in Liverpool and people who legitimately do, don't sit off in houses in Dovecot. If you saw how these women lord it over others in the playground, dance lessons etc, you wouldn't pity them. Her business was low level money laundering, practically every private sunbed shop across the country is. There was always the possibility of her kids being in danger or the house getting raided. She decided that the risk was worth it. She lives on her nice estate while the rest of the council house estate just up the road becomes more and more unliveable and more and more kids end up on CP plans because of their parents addiction/drug use. The women and children up the road are the victims of the pair of them. Three bedroom houses, with gardens front and back up for rent for £400 a month, but they are hard to let because of the social problems caused by the likes of Cashman and Sweeney. The violence used by them, raises the violence used by the whole criminal world.

Exactly. The idea that she didn't know is absolutely laughable.

Didn't care? Absolutely. Didn't know? Give me a break.

PonyPatter44 · 01/04/2023 14:54

My favourite description of her is 'poundshop Colleen Rooney', and thats exactly what she is. A desperate WAG wannabe.

Cashman isn't going to enjoy his first few years inside, hopefully. There aren't a lot of places to put a high-profile gangland figure who murdered a child.

JackiePlace · 01/04/2023 13:53

So according to The Fail, this woman's crimes are wearing pink, having botox, trying to start a business and being loyal to her loser husband.
Please, can we all try to rise above and resist being manipulated by trash reporting like this. The only thing we should feel for her is pity.

Trying to start a business? 😂 You think she went to the local NatWest, had a chat with the business advisor about her business plan and got a loan? She was laundering money through that salon, stop being so naïve

I will endeavour to stop being so naive. I believe in trying to see the best in people.

She benefitted not only financially, but through notoriety as well. The cachet being the GF of someone known as a hitman gives you a certain level of protection in those circles, no one would have dared upset her or her family, because that way retribution lies.
I,ve seen a whole house get its windows put in because the mother dared to tell the kid of a known thug to go play somewhere else. You cant go running to the police about it, because you live in that area and cant afford to just up and leave, so you suffer the consequences if you step out of line.
You don't cross these people. you keep your head down and you don't get involved.

Oh this reminds me of a run in I had with such a woman. I picked GC up from school 2 or 3 times a week, this mum had a flash car and always parked it right on the corner opposite school even if that meant the back end was sticking out into the other road.

I'm a bit naive I suppose but I couldn't understand how she got away with it and how she lorded it over other people. Anyway one day I'm driving out of the cul de sac where she was parked and she tried to pull out in front of me but there wasn't room. Arms waving I could see but not hear her shouting at me so I got out of the car and asked her what was wrong. She denied waving her arms and shouting, eventually said she was waving at a friend. I said I could see what she was doing and she had no automatic right for other people to put up with her pulling out in front of them and parking so dangerously by the school.

Next day a mum came up to me and said they all admired my nerve. I asked what she meant and she said the woman's partner was a sort of top level guy in the local drug trade and that's why people never said anything to her.

I spent several days waiting for the hit squad to arrive for retribution but it didn't happen. Maybe they thought a crazy old lady wasn't worth bothering with.

Spot on.

People who legitimately earn 5k a week here deffo don't sit on walls smoking weed in Dovecot.

They also don't rent random apartments in Runcorn, where he was arrested. Apparently, he used it so him and his girlfriend could have some quiet time. Hmmm...

I think unless you've lived in these communities, it's hard to comprehend.

The lynch pin of most of these families are the women. Hard and matriarchal. They cover for, aide, and abet their partners and sons. Keep things running when it goes tits up.

There's a lot going on in the background with this case, but his girlfriend being ab unsuspecting victim is not one of them.

megletthesecond · 01/04/2023 15:20

Is Gerrard dodgy or shitting himself? His daughter must be nuts.
I'm a middle aged woman and I know about that cartel.

Some people on this thread are so naive about the culture that surrounds these gangs, their families and hangers on.

They all know what these men do, none of them care as long as the money keeps rolling in. And very few care about who gets caught in the cross fire.

Nothing has changed since the murder of Rhys Jones.

Absolutely this.

My late DP grew up in Liverpool and North Wales and some of the stories he told me were quite an eye opener. It's nothing new. Look at the Krays.

The only people I have any sympathy for in this case are Olivia and her family. I can't begin to imagine what they've been through.

Sadly they are unlikely to be the last family to suffer in this way.

Dregs of society

I raise this issue each time people boast on here about drug use, they always justify it as 'I get mine from a bloke down the road who only grows for him', its all rubbish and each step of the rung is involved in various drugs, both legal and illegal used for recreation purposes, exploitation of children, prostitution, violence, death.

Personally I think it should be legalised but while its not, each interaction with dealers/sellers/growers is all part of the problem

Agree with you that drugs should be legalised, their illegality just means that there is a whole chain of crime, corruption and violence. It's an argument almost as old as time now but look at what went on in America during prohibition.

One definition of gangsters moll:

molls
A woman who's the companion or conspirator to a gangster can be called a moll. One of the most famous molls was Bonnie Parker, of the criminal duo Bonnie and Clyde.

But they weren’t gangsters
they both went on a rampage but weren’t in a gang and she was just as much of a criminal as him

Hellybelly84 · 01/04/2023 15:58

She knew and if she had any morals, would have shopped him to police long ago. Instead, no doubt she wanted a luxury lifestyle and im guessing turned a blind eye to where the money came from. Turning up like a Wag to the trial, dressed in baby pink, is an absolute insult to Olivia’s family. I hope everything is taken away from her that was bought with the proceeds of his crimes.

However, I dont believe the kids should be taken from her as it seems unfair to punish the kids for their Father’s crimes (and they are already going to spend a lifetime with the shame of who their father is hanging over them).
