To ask how many times you get up in the night (to pee)

I never get a full night's sleep (7-8 hours) without getting up at least once. On a bad night it can be 5-6 times.

GP not interested and I've dealt with this for years. Is this normal for some people?

I've tried cutting out caffeine completely and not drinking liquids for hours before bed. It doesn't help.

Do you actually need a wee when you go or it's it just a little bit?

IconicKitty · 24/03/2023 07:47

Yes I do, and when I've tried to ignore it (and go back to sleep) I can't because I need to go!

dietcokelime · 24/03/2023 07:48

Anything between 0-5! Depends how much I've been drinking in the day / how deeply I'm sleeping. I've got an overactive very small bladder though.

SunshineAndMonsteras · 24/03/2023 07:48

0 and I would seek other doctor's opinion if your gp doesn't want to know. It doesn't sound great

Frozendaquiri · 24/03/2023 07:48

Not at all.

I haven't had children yet though, not sure if that changes things.

Tootsey11 · 24/03/2023 07:48

None, I'm 47. No that's not normal to get up that many times. What age are you?

FfeminyddCymraeg · 24/03/2023 07:49

Never here. And I’ve had 2 DC and have a bit of a weak bladder during the day so this always surprises me.

barcodescanner · 24/03/2023 07:49

Go back to your gp. I used to get up at least three times, mostly more. Turns out I have an overactive bladder and mild prolapse. Tablets have helped

Slimjimtobe · 24/03/2023 07:49

Never & mid 40s with two kids

Watsername · 24/03/2023 07:49

1 at most, usually 0.

FannythePinkFlamingo · 24/03/2023 07:50

Once usually and that's only because I drink a lot of water. If I've been drinking wine, and am a bit dehydrated, I don't need to go.

blebbleb · 24/03/2023 07:50

Once. I'm 38 and have always needed to get up for a wee so I'm not concerned. That sounds like a lot though, I'd speak to a doctor.

DappledThings · 24/03/2023 07:50

Once if I have a cup of tea after about 9pm. Otherwise none.

Should add, I'm 50 and menopausal.

MakeADecision · 24/03/2023 07:50

None usually, sometimes once.

Have you been tested for diabetes?

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 24/03/2023 07:51

Usually once. I'm 48 and peri-menopausal (not sure if that has anything to do with or not.)

5-6 times a night would have me worried. See another doctor.

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 24/03/2023 07:51

I'm in my 50s and generally get up once - if I don't, I figure I'm not drinking enough and up the water the next day

ViaBlue · 24/03/2023 07:51

Once usually. Since having DC.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 24/03/2023 07:51

Once or twice and I've always been that way. I'm 34 and don't have children 🤷🏻‍♀️

Early 30s

Rarely 1, usually 0. Go back to your GP, that’s not normal.
Keep a wee and fluids diary for a couple of weeks if you can. It’s a bit of an effort to measure what goes in and what comes out , at what time, but is very valuable data

FiveShelties · 24/03/2023 07:52

I drink loads of water, coffee, diet coke and wine(!) and get up once to wee. When I used to drink a small amount if fluid I got up 2 or 3 times. Perhaps the more you drink the more the bladder gets used to being full?

DisplayPurposesOnly · 24/03/2023 07:52

Once is my normal, usually after about 5 hours sleep.

If it's several times, it's because I'm bothered about something and not sleeping.

RampantIvy · 24/03/2023 07:53

No, that definitely is not normal. I didn't get up that many times even when I was pregnant. I'm 64 and very rarely get up in the night for a wee.

Please seek medical advice from another doctor.

UniversalTruth · 24/03/2023 07:54

Is the same in the day @IconicKitty? Or can you go longer without going for a pee?
