AIBU to think this man (who has undergone no transitioning) should be allow play on women's teams. Sick to my stomach this is happening.

This man (in red) has undergone no attempt to transition. Yet he's playing on women's GAA football teams in Ireland because he feels he's a woman.
Imagine him tackling a poor woman would have no chance. Prior to that he played women's rugby.
Why is this happening in women's sports, prisons, changing rooms, toilets.
Why are trans women's rights more important than ours.
This man (who is in no way a woman or even a trans woman) needs to play with a team where the rest of the players have penises too or else start his own trans league. Get out of women's sports & spaces.

Transgender GAA Player: 'I Wish To Leave Lasting Legacy'

Absolute lunacy and no one gives a shit! Was just saying this to DP whilst watching the 6 Nations - I hope they don’t allow men pretending to be women to play against ACTUAL women.

But lo and behold…. Wonder if it will all stop if some poor woman gets very seriously injured or dies because she got basically assaulted on a pitch? All just so some men pretending to be women don’t get their feelings hurt. Fuck off with that shit.

Cycling is a lost cause, as is running. So they’ve moved onto the next sports level - contact. Basically it’s a way to beat women without fear of prosecution. But hey, as long as “Mandy when it suits” doesn’t get HIS feelings hurt then it’s all ok!

Boyd Burton (aka Fallon Fox) has been legally beating up women for years in MMA.

I'm so utterly depressed by it all. My DD and I were discussing JK Rowling and DD was quoting a lot of things here woke Uni pals had said about her and TWAW stuff. I explained I had no gripe with trans people at all, live and let live and all that - but my issue was men gaining access to women's and girls spaces and women's/girls rights being set aside in favour of men.

We had quite an interesting discussion but she was still on the fence with regards to transwomen in women's prisons and was talking about Nikita Dragun who in DDs words, lived her life completely as a woman so should go to a woman's jail. I countered that the problem was that gender ideology allows violent rapists and sexual attackers to be 'women' if they feel like it, and showed her the stories about Barbie Kardashian (DD is 22 so of an age where she can read such disturbing content), she sent me a message saying "I stand with JK"!

That's happening in Ireland too.. Gays who dont want to date transitioned people are being ridiculed & called Transphobic... Plenty online about lesbians who are being called biggoted because they don't want to date trans men, semi trans or men like Valentino above who "feels" like a women.. Same for gay men. Gay rights are absolutely being attacked & demeaned also by this Trans Army.

Interesting how lesbians are getting so much hate for not wanting to date men in dresses. Not such a big thing against straight men.

@HoneyPotBee i think we need to keep all this fresh in people's minds. I have three daughters who love sport including GAA here in Ireland. Why should one of my girls have to face him on the playing field. Him who says he's perfectly comfortable with his "genitals"..

Agree Mommymoments about keeping this stuff fresh in people's minds, but the problem here in Ireland is that the Irish 'mainstream' media are just useless on this issue. None of these stories ever really gain any traction here - even the Leo Varadker / Barbie Kardashian story has already disappeared. It's depressing.

RTE are today covering the World Athletics Council decision because it's an international story and 'safe' for them to do so - it's something happening 'elsewhere'. But did they, or the Irish Times, or the Independent even report the LGFA decision last summer, nevermind ask anyone from the LGFA for a comment? I don't think so. Where are the Irish female sports journalists on this?

PS. There are some Irish journalists not afraid to tackle gender woo - I'm thinking Eilis O'Hanlon, Mark Tighe, Brenda Power, Ciara Kelly on radio, and of course Gript (I'm sure there are others) and I'm grateful to them. But by and large it's all just studiously ignored.

3peassuit · 24/03/2023 10:07

Why can’t that Alex person broaden the bandwidth of what it is to be a man?

Happylittlechicken · 24/03/2023 10:07

@Mommymoments i think @lifeturnsonadime was being ironic…..

We are bigoted?Well @lifeturnsonadime you my dear are a womanphobe & a woman hater.

You've missed my sarcasm which is easy to do on a written post. I post fairly regularly on FWR.

Men are never women.

Sarah2891 · 24/03/2023 10:10

YANBU of course. I wonder about anyone who voted YABU...

heathspeedwell · 24/03/2023 10:10

That Alex person actually claims to be a lesbian and claims to 'bring out the inner lesbian' in straight women.

That's how much genderists respect women who are genuinely gay or bi.

YouSetTheTone · 24/03/2023 10:12

If Stonewall had spent the past 15 years campaigning for safe third spaces, extra categories in sport and for society to be accepting of boys or girls who wished to simply ‘present’ as the opposite sex we wouldn’t be where we are now.
Forcing the T and Q and all the other letters onto gay rights, dropping the ball entirely with said gay rights (where are SW with all the recent horror legislation in places like Uganda?) and demanding the wholesale inclusion of men into ALL areas of society/ life traditionally reserved as women only for reasons of privacy, safety and dignity have resulted in this shit show.
Don’t blame women for any ‘lack of compassion’, blame Stonewall and all the other big organisations and governments who’ve done this.

cannaecookrisotto · 24/03/2023 10:14

Also pleasantly surprised this thread hasn't been shuffled over to the Feminism board Bear.

I feel like sanity might be returning due to the efforts of mainly women in the UK I am proud to say. Mumsnet feminist boards played no small part in the fight back starting with Man Friday and I Am Sporticus if anyone remembers that? I still have the t shirt 😁

Mumsnet the site itself have been great of late for keeping up the discussions that need to be seen & read. No more deleting anything they think is not pc.

I do wonder how some people on this thread would cope if their son told them he thought he was in the wrong body and wanted to live as a woman.

No issue... Unless he wanted to play in natal female sports. (assuming they had gone through male puberty... No issue if not)

I do wonder how some people on this thread would cope if their son told them he thought he was in the wrong body and wanted to live as a woman.

Honest answer?

I would think I had failed as a parent to teach him that there is no such thing as girls' toys/clothes and boys' toys/clothes and that he could play with what he wants and express himself how he wants, that being a boy or a girl makes no difference.

I would have to find the best way of making it clear to him that he cannot change sex, and that all the puberty blockers and surgery in the world will not make it so, so it would be better if he found a way to accept himself the way he is.

I would still continue to love him unconditionally, even if that meant having to love him unconditionally whilst watching him dress in women's clothes and change the name that we lovingly chose for him and use feminine pronouns.

But I would never, at any point, support him making his gender dysphoria anyone else's problem. Competing in women's sports? Hard no. I could never support that.

And also the big pharmaceutical companies who are funding plenty behind the scenes to enable these organisations to reach their target audience.. Primary school children.

Good pic and yes great stuff to all the women who started this on mn and kept it going. Against slurs, attacks and insults

All appreciated. Thankfully it seems to be paying off although some way to go.

I know.

In the 90s in Brighton there were loads of men who dressed just like Alex. FWIW I think Alex looks amazing.

Difference was they didn't claim to be women or lesbians.

This ideology is so backwards. It's not what Alexi is wearing that I object to it's that he is imposing himself on women.

JackiePlace · 24/03/2023 10:18

IncompleteSenten · 24/03/2023 08:19

Because women's safety is unimportant.

I agree that trans men should not be allowed to compete in women's sports.

However, in a martial arts class (not a sport) surely this is an ideal opportunity to train... (you're not hoping to only be capable of defending yourself against women, are you?).

"Widening the bandwith of how to be a woman". FFS - what does that even mean?

Try being pregnant, giving birth, 40 years of menstruating, breastfeeding, earning less, getting fewer chances at promotion, being silenced, being objectified and fetishised and generally being treated like a second class citizen. The irony of transmen wanting to be women but at the same time, denying women their rights is mindblowing.

NKFell · 24/03/2023 10:21

Of course YANBU at all. I always hope common sense will prevail.

Some of these TRAs just don't get it though. I once had an argument on Twitter with someone who genuinely believed their pelvis changed position, they had a cervix, reversed puberty etc. He genuinely believed it though and part of me thinks that's so sad but it's so scary that I struggle to feel sorry for people.

Morning Ireland had a transgender scientist on this morning discussing the "science" of trans athletes & how they have no advantage 😩 the trans propaganda continues. No woman athlete or scientist was on Morning Ireland to give a woman's perspective. Just the transgender scientist to give his trans agenda.
Its propoganda & state controlled censorship.

I think I’ve seen this discussed before. It feels like this man is just taking the piss out of trans people. Nice to see MN drawing attention to it.

It’s been discussed before because it keeps happening. It’s women they are taking the piss out of. And injuring and intimidating and gaslighting.

Well said. Colluding with a delusion that may lead to harmful drugs and surgery is not a kindness.
