and you shouldn't leave it lying around on the stairs in the dark under human feet, then go all hurt and indignant and pitiful when it gets trodden on?

And it really isn't worth a whole packet of dreamies to get back in you good books?

Is this your cat?

Oh ladies you have made my morning!! I am a gransnetter?😉 and have just joined mumsnet! It’s brilliant! I am isolated due to chronic illness but the joy and laughter I’ve had, (although some are very very 😢.) has been enormous. You’ve all made me feel completely connected to the real world again! Although I need a lesson in acronyms🤪.

it cheered me up too, and I got over the guilt

My cat was outraged by this - you seem to be under the illusion you own your house and stairs and have not fully understood your position as live in servant. As to :” one day I will fall and break my ankle” - one more careless staircase assault and it will happen very soon… obviously correct answer is if the stairs are in use by resident royalty, sleep downstairs!

Welcome Greenly

TwoBengalCats · 25/03/2023 13:33

You are totally unreasonable. They are not your stairs, it was not your tail to tread on, you should look where you’re going. It’s not our fault, as cats, that you as human slaves, cannot see in the dark.
We think you got away lightly with only a packet of dreamies. The tail is there again, as you surely have learnt your lesson not to do it again.

My daughter was once late for her holiday job because our cat was sleeping on the bonnet of her car and she didn't want to move him 🙄

Luckily her boss is a cat owner and understood.

coeurnoir · 25/03/2023 14:25

For real damage inflicted by a tail a golden retriever is needed....

Greenly3 · 25/03/2023 17:20

Thank you for your response xx

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 25/03/2023 18:06

Greyhound tails are like whips, in the absence of angry cats.

pollymere · 25/03/2023 20:18

My cat deliberately puts her tail out to trip you up or for you to tread on so she can be affronted. She already has the end missing from before we got her.

Callipygion · 25/03/2023 20:35

When my cat gets angry, eg she thinks she should have food and you are not giving her some, she bangs her tail three times. She will do that a few times and if you continue to ignore her she pounces on you and bites.

I think I have got away with it, I have finally been deemed purr-worthy again this morning

You're being lulled into a false sense of security. Revenge is a dish best served cold.

RavenofEngland · 25/03/2023 23:06

Honestly, I think that tails are a life form all of their own, separate to the rest of the cat. This thread is brilliant! I don’t think I’ve chuckled so much over a MN thread for ages. We’ve only had our little rescue kitty for a few weeks and I’ve nearly tripped over her a couple of times where she’s decided to slink up behind my legs. So far she’s forgiven every transgression and I am yet to feel the look of disapproval or the swipe of murder mittens.

Once I sat on my cat, don't ask me how. He's fine, it was many years ago.

I once sat on someone else's cat. I didn't realise it was the cat's chair :)

Every chair is the cat's chair. Particularly one which is still warm from the human who just got up to get a biscuit.

nationallampoons · 25/03/2023 23:48

My cat stuck her bum out of the covered litter tray and shit on my kitchen floor.

I'm still trying to work out what I've done to piss her off

ScottBakula · 26/03/2023 00:07

@nationallampoons You humaned at some point , that is enough !

Rebel2 · 26/03/2023 00:27

Mine is currently fuming at me
He was doing some weird licking thing, I thought he was unwell. No, just licking pasta sauce I didn't realise I had on my top
He was most cross when I stopped him licking my clothes

Frazzledstudentmom · 26/03/2023 11:47

Mine had a limp... terrified he'd done something terrible. Steroids and antibiotics later, caught him trying to squish through an iron fence that is too tight for the neighbours chihuahua to fit through... hes a ragdoll. Got stuck, had to wretch his shoulder out. So THATS how the little s*d got his limp!

FemaleCat will ,ove onto whatever chair takes her fancy , at the moment it is DH workchair

Rge chair I rest my weary legs on when I'm on the laptop- she wanders across the table and does that reaching out with a paw thing . Ooh I want to sit here but there's no room with your Fat Legs , I need to sort of hover like a helicopter to pick the right spot ...this will make me shift my legs

If she's on my chair she ignores any attempts to dislodge her with chair movement . A light push is rewarded with a swipe (claws/no claws depends on her mood)
If I hover my rump ovr the chair C'mon Madam that's Mums chair till I hear her thud to the floor .

Can I just add , in my defence , there are many, many chairs, beds, a sofa etc she can choose.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/03/2023 12:18

ove onto -move onto
Rge chair -the chair

DdraigGoch · 26/03/2023 14:00

Can I just add , in my defence , there are many, many chairs, beds, a sofa etc she can choose.

No excuses. As I said above, every chair is the cat's chair and humans should consider themselves grateful for a patch of floor.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/03/2023 19:49

We even chose a new sofa with the cats in mind .
Our ancient Ikea Ektorp needed replaced last year .
As there was a limited space , we wanted replaceable covers ( to be able to wash them and change the look) , hardwearing covers and space underneath for them to throw themselves underthe sofa with pelmet style covering to floor level ....we got another Ektorp , same colour .

They are patiently waiting now as Sunday= DS has roast chicken= Cats Get Their Share .

Harmonypus · 27/03/2023 06:43

It's definitely not just cats that do this, my spaniel is just as bad as any cat I've ever had.
Right now he's lying on my bed, well, across my legs actually, snoring his head off.
I know I'm going to have to move in a minute but I can guarantee he'll be awake and waiting at the bedroom door before I've even moved a centimetre!
