and you shouldn't leave it lying around on the stairs in the dark under human feet, then go all hurt and indignant and pitiful when it gets trodden on?

And it really isn't worth a whole packet of dreamies to get back in you good books?

Our old lady cat used to creep up then flop lavishly behind our feet in the kitchen, then make that awful cry when we inevitably tripped over her. Weekly at a minimum.

Dumb as she was in other respects, we realised she'd worked out she got extra fuss by doing this. We realised when she started just making the noise whilst staring at us at a safe distance.....

pinkpotatoez · 24/03/2023 00:11

Literally just had this exact scenario in my house. Handful of dreamies later, all is forgotten. Makes me feel even worse when he cowers away when I try to stroke him to apologise, as if he's abused 😂

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/03/2023 00:15

Our cat was winding in between my legs as I dished up her dinner the other night. I ended up falling over her while simultaneously sending her flying like in a cartoon. The fact food was coming over-rode her displeasure.

Cerridwen83 · 24/03/2023 00:17

I bring her majesty to lie on my bed with me when I go to bed.
She makes a point to chastise me with a piercing glare before jumping down and stalking off to the lounge.
Once I'm settled in bed with the light off and snuggled up, she returns and makes herself comfortable on my chest.
Therefore proving her point that she will come when she's ready and not before.

Yabu. It's worth 2 packets. And tuna.

Nimbostratus100 · 23/03/2023 19:43

well, I am pleased to see the tail seems to have recovered, but cant help wondering why it is lying across the stairs in the dark again....

Reminds me of this...

For a split second, I thought this was going to be one of those recent cryptic threads regarding the malevolent sea serpents that are planning on taking over the world.

I quickly realised that the situation is true and much worse. You’ve pissed off your overlord and we are now all going to hell in a handcart.

cherriestort · 24/03/2023 00:52

When I trod on my cats tail I just got the slightest turn of the head and a glance.
I've accepted my fate and starting putting my affairs in order.

Pixiedust1234 · 24/03/2023 00:53

@70isaLimitNotaTarget they are adorable😍

Sorry OP, if anything crashes into/onto the back of you its the other person's fault. Law of the road and jungle

TheFireflies · 24/03/2023 00:56

I trod on my cat’s foot once when he got overly enthusiastic about getting his breakfast and inserted himself under my feet. Nothing as terrible as that had ever happened to him before, and I had several hours of him telling me how affronted and hurt he was.

LadyIckenham · 24/03/2023 01:05

DCat's tail didn't last his first year, unfortunately, due to his cavalier attitude with it. Not sure what happened but the whole thing had to come off at great expense after I found him with it looking very broken.

I never cease to be impressed at how well he has adapted without it. Not least in the use of ears to convey every sort of nuanced mood (most of them outraged).

QueueEtwo · 24/03/2023 01:13

Absofuckinglutely!

If you've been stupid enough to leave your tail under the toilet seat as your slave sat down on it, no way should you should you have taken a bite out of her shin!
Week 4 and a skin graft later!
The tail wasn't even missing abit of fluff!

Glitterblue · 24/03/2023 01:30

My two don’t even appear to realise that their tails belong to them and spend ages chasing them and trying to catch them, so I suspect they would think I was very unreasonable if I expected them to be in control of where said tails were positioned in the dark, because how can you be responsible for something that isn’t yours? 😂😂

viques · 24/03/2023 01:40

I have to flatten myself against the staircase wall for the first five steps from the top of my staircase, because if I don’t old long legs can reach me through the bannister rails until I get to stair 6. He doesn’t do it every time, he will let me have a clear run for a while to lure me into a false sense of security…….

I think I have got away with it, I have finally been deemed purr-worthy again this morning

It's awfully heartbreaking isn't it! I'm currently living with a year old cat (kitten?), it was the runt of the litter and is tiny. I felt so awful, but it has since learned to jump away dramatically when I'm up and about!

Hoddesdon · 24/03/2023 04:54

Dunno but I absolutely adore DCats ❤️

CornedBeef451 · 24/03/2023 08:56

@Idratherbepaddleboarding ahhh, that's very cute!

One of my other cats insists I wear her like a scarf while I work. She stands on my boobs and smothers me with her body until I help her into position. Than I'm allowed to breathe unmolested as long as I fuss her with my non mouse hand.

BadjaLol · 24/03/2023 09:06

Accidentally kicked my orange boy in the head the other night.

I felt so terrible I spent about an hour lying on the carpet hand feeding him ham while stroking his head.

xogossipgirlxo · 24/03/2023 09:37

I always try to blame on my cats when I step on their paw (because they walk from behind so quietly!), but in reality you feel like the worst person.
Once I sat on my cat, don't ask me how. He's fine, it was many years ago.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/03/2023 11:31

In this house, we say "pussy cats who walk under feet get trodden on!"

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/03/2023 12:15

Our two cats ( we don't have guinea-pigs now , the cats were conditional on waiting for the long spiral of piggies to come to a natural end )

Female Cat - has obviously had some sort of Tail Trauma as she has a bony lump on the end of her tail. Very much My Tail . Don't Touch
MaleCat uses his tail like a 5th hand to stroke DH feet as he saunters by , or caress DD as he walks round her . Or wags his tail like a ferocious dog or helicopter when he's chasing birds
Doesn't realise , obvs, that this gives the game away and the birds scarper .

Sweetpea1532 · 24/03/2023 18:11

@CornedBeef451 I found the word picture you painted quite funny😅

Pudmyboy · 24/03/2023 18:43

Is this your cat?
