Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit!

I'm fuming. Put my wheelie bin at the top of my driveway last night for collection today, it's fairly full so the top is slightly open. Just went out this morning (it hasn't been emptied yet) and noticed someone has placed two bags full of dog shit in my bin on top of my rubbish bags! AIBU or is this absolutely disgusting? I don't have a dog and I don't want dog shit in my bin.

I see what you mean op.

i used to live in a busy town where every other family seemed to have a dog. They generate a lot of turds as you could see from the public bins. I wouldn’t have been happy for my bin to be seen as fair game because that stuff smells and there were so many dogs around.

now I live far away from my neighbours I wouldn’t care if the odd dog walker puts crap in my bin.

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 17/03/2023 10:36

Do you have to be a "germaphobe" to not want to look at someone else's dog's shit at eye level when you walk into your front door of your home? I'd argue not.

I thought the bin was at the top of your drive?

Why would it be at eye level when you walk in to your front door?

If my bin was at the end of my drive, clearly waiting to be emptied, I wouldn't care who put what in there, as long as it was going inside the bin.

If your post was about someone smearing shit over the lid and handle of the bin, I'd be with you.

I just can't get irate about someone using a bin for its purpose.

JustAWeirdoWithNoName · 17/03/2023 10:38

If my bin was quite obviously sat waiting to be emptied, it wouldn't bother me at all as the poop would be long gone before I had to touch the bin again.
If my bin was already empty or not obviously sat out for collection then it would probably annoy me more. General waste is only collected every other week here so would potentially have 2 weeks of rotting dog shit to smell before collection again - which would be particularly awful in summer.

rwalker · 17/03/2023 10:39

It’s grim and would be a big no from me
pok bags are thick as flies wing wouldn’t want it ripping it popping with bin emptied and smearing shit all up the inside

unfortunately dog ownership and breathtaking entitlement seem to come hand in hand for Some dog owners

That being said, I wouldn't dream of putting my pet's crap (or anything really) in someone else's bin - not even the can of pop in the example earlier on the thread.

StepHigh · 17/03/2023 10:43

This would be ok with me- in fact, I've occasionally offered our bin when I've been in the garden and someone walks past with a dog poo bag- not many public bins round here.

ihavespoken · 17/03/2023 10:45

YANBU - I have dogs and it occasionally crosses my mind about whether I could get shot of my poo bag into someone's bin while I am out, however I always conclude DEFINITELY NOT. How rude, who wants random shit in their bin!!

Viviennemary · 17/03/2023 10:46

Absoluting disgusting. I would be furious, They should be reported to the police.

NotAnotherPylon · 17/03/2023 10:46

I would be irritated by this too. I think it's the fact that the bin might have already been emptied and is only in the street because it hasn't been brought back down the driveway. The idea of a thin plastic bag full of dog shite lying in the bottom of my bin for two weeks until the next bin day would definitely piss me off. Those biodegradable bags for example start, well, biodegrading pretty quickly if our food bin is anything to go by. And there's the very real possibility of it splitting, biodegradable or not, once other bags start landing on it. So no, take yer shite home and put it in your own bin. Own it. Carry it like a little handbag.

Reported to the police for putting rubbish in a bin... Confused

🙄What do you think the police would do?

ArmWrestlingWithChasNDave · 17/03/2023 10:48

Oh my GOD

Bagged rubbish in a bin? Call the police!

NotAnotherPylon · 17/03/2023 10:49

Can't help wondering if Viviennemary is perhaps being sarcastic ...

LakieLady · 17/03/2023 10:49

The amount of landfill waste I generate in a week is so tiny it would barely fill a shoebox, so I don't use a bin, but if I did, this wouldn't bother me in the slightest. And I think it's much better in someone's bin than left on the pavement.

My council seems to have largely given up on dog poo bins, and the general litter bins are for litter and dog poo, so it must all end up in the same place. And litter bins are few and far between outside of the town centre.

But paying to have your bins cleaned? I had no idea there was such a thing as a bin cleaning service, or that this was something people would actually pay for, rather than rinse it out with a hose and swill some bleach round in it.

Every day's a school day.

Tinkerbyebye · 17/03/2023 10:50

Grow up. It’s bagged. Better in the bin that’s about to be collected than not picked up

vodkaredbullgirl · 17/03/2023 10:50

101 Yes how may I help you?
Caller Someone put a dog poop bag in my bin
101 😂

peachesss · 17/03/2023 10:51

This happens a lot to me, my bins are round the back and I’m always finding other peoples rubbish in them. Someone had actually put a full bin bag of rubbish in mine, making it full and couldn’t close it

Comfyonion · 17/03/2023 10:52

I'm with you OP. This has happened to us. Its selfish idiots who don't want to carry a turd around in a bag until they reach a public bin or their own. I mean, I get it. I wouldnt want to do it either. Which is one of the reasons why I don't have a dog!

ProbablyDogNappersHunX · 17/03/2023 10:52

Viviennemary · 17/03/2023 10:46

If you want to end up on one of those compilations of people ringing the emergency services for ridiculous reasons, go ahead.

I'm sure you'll rank just between the woman who called 999 to complain she'd been served a cold kebab and the one who called about their paper cut.

OoooohMatron · 17/03/2023 10:54

Oakdoor1 · 17/03/2023 10:05

You’ve used the word “randoms” so I take that as you don’t like people who you don’t actually know putting tied bags of dog poo in your bin, but you’d be happy for say a friend to do the same?

I think you’re being completely unreasonable. It’s a bin, bins are for rubbish. I can’t understand why this matters to you so much? Get your bin cleaned when it’s emptied if you care about how clean it is so much.

Also, if I was walking my dog down your street and your bin was out and I had a bag of dog poo I’d put it in your bin. In fact, I’d target your bin specifically every day just to wind you up 😁

Haha. If you did that to me you'd enjoy returning home to a bag of shit through your letterbox

Errmmmmmmmmmmm · 17/03/2023 10:54

I agree with you OP - it happens with my bin also. It happened once after my recycling bin had been emptied. I had to fish it out 🤮

HalliwellManor · 17/03/2023 10:54

It wouldn't bother me at all, personally I don't do it if my dog ever poos while out,I just pop it in a dog poo bin if there's one nearby or double bag it,pop it in the boot of the car and put it in my own wheelie bin when we get home.
I'd rather somebody use my wheelie bin than leave it on the floor, bagged or not.
