Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit!

I'm fuming. Put my wheelie bin at the top of my driveway last night for collection today, it's fairly full so the top is slightly open. Just went out this morning (it hasn't been emptied yet) and noticed someone has placed two bags full of dog shit in my bin on top of my rubbish bags! AIBU or is this absolutely disgusting? I don't have a dog and I don't want dog shit in my bin.

I don't see the problem if it's bagged, if it was on the pavement in front your house you'd be moaning about that too. I could understand your upset if it was smeared all over your bin - but it's in a bag.

YANBU - I have dogs and it occasionally crosses my mind about whether I could get shot of my poo bag into someone's bin while I am out, however I always conclude DEFINITELY NOT. How rude, who wants random shit in their bin!!

Loads of people on here do, apparently! They're all cool with random shit in their bins. Who knew.

You can tell the people on here who do or would do this.

It's so lazy, just carry it home or put it in a public bin.

I found people were doing this on the day the bins got collected - I'd be out at work all day so couldn't bring my bin in until evening. I only found out when I went to clean it and there were at least 10 squashed, ripped bags of dog shit.

Yeah like I said previously, it was at the top of my driveway a few weeks ago. Probably the same offender 🤮

It wouldn't bother me at all, personally I don't do it if my dog ever poos while out,I just pop it in a dog poo bin if there's one nearby or double bag it,pop it in the boot of the car and put it in my own wheelie bin when we get home.
I'd rather somebody use my wheelie bin than leave it on the floor, bagged or not.

People without dogs should not have to deal with dog shit, full stop. You have a different perspective as a dog owner who is used to dealing with it.

Soubriquet · 17/03/2023 10:56

I honestly couldn’t care less if my bin was by the side of the road, and someone put their rubbish including bagged dog poop in it.

It’s a bin. It’s what it’s for.

Viviennemary · 17/03/2023 10:58

No I was not being sarcastic. I think its a vile and disgusting thing to do. And if they came on to your property to do this it is technically trespass.

horseyhorsey17 · 17/03/2023 10:29

Why?

Some people have a few standards

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 17/03/2023 11:01

How is the OP having to deal with it though?

In the exact same circumstances that the OP has found herself in, other than seeing it as she's walked down her drive, what impact has it had on her life?

If I put put bin out at 7pm, someone chucked a bagged turd in at 10:30pm, and the bins were collected at 7am, I wouldn't even know, let alone have to deal with it.

Can't help wondering if Viviennemary is perhaps being sarcastic ...

Nah, she posts an awful lot of shit that would be better off in the bin.

Nsky62 · 17/03/2023 11:02

Be glad it’s being disposed of properly, I really wouldn’t care if your baby’s nappy was in my bin

Ah, ok. You're weird then. Police it is😬

I had the same problem and it use to really annoy me! One guy always putting his dog poo in my bin even though he only lived a couple of doors down the road!! One time he didn't even tie the bag! Furious! So I can completely understand.

I got a sticker to put on the top of my bin, I felt a bit like a miserable old lady doing it though.

YOU felt guilty for asking someone to stop taking this kind of liberty with your property? Really, don't.

You're a kinder woman than I am. I'd have lined the ridge the lid rests on with sprung mousetraps!

She's having to see it in her bin and is disgusted by it. Dog owners don't get to tell others what it acceptable or not when it comes to their own pet's shit.

Ketchupwee · 17/03/2023 11:06

dogpoobin · 17/03/2023 08:43

Oh right, I see it ok. In that case I'll start popping my baby's pooey nappies in random peoples bins 👍🏻

You may joke about that, but a visitor to next door changed their baby in the car and the cheeky fucker walked out of next doors driveway (past their bin), up my driveway and put the shitty unwrapped nappy in my bin. She got the shock of her life when I got out of the car and confronted her

Yes it's a bin, but clearly she knows how disgusting she was being because she didn't put it in her mates bin (which was right next to her)

I wouldn't mind betting they're not.

People just love to plop onto this site with an ill-placed eye-roll and the banal, predictable protestation that 'I couldn't get worked up over that'.

When it's in their back yard they'll be singing a different tune. Guaranteed.

Trespass is not a criminal offence. It's a civil matter, and in the event you took it to court the best the courts could offer would be an order that the trespassers left you land.... Which they probably did about 5 seconds after putting something in your bin.

Wheelie bins belong to the council so if you think it's a matter of criminal damage (it's not) then it would be the council that would have to start court proceedings... and that's not going to happen.

If by 'standards' you mean 'obsessing about bins' then I'm happy to do without them. Life is too short.

TeaAndTwoSugars · 17/03/2023 11:12

Seeing as there is an allowance where I live and you can only put out so much rubbish a week yes YANBU.
I wouldn't expect random strangers to think they can just dump whatever they like in my private wheelie bin.
Odd attitudes in this thread.

You really can't. I wouldn't put my dog's poo in some random's bin. However, I wouldn't care - or probably even know, as I don't spent ages staring into the depths of my wheely bins - if someone put theirs in mine.

yikesanotherbooboo · 17/03/2023 11:14

I wouldn't mind this at all. It's what bins are for .As per pp miles better than people not picking up after their dogs or dangling bags of dog shit from tree branches or fences.DMil got a telling off from a passing council worker for putting her dog poo bag in our bin as it waited for the refuse lorry.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 17/03/2023 11:14

Agree with you, OP. These slobs need to carry their shit home.

In my area it's illegal to deposit into a private bin; i videoed the guy doing it and made him fish out the sack and take it out.

Do you have a Ring doorbell?

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 17/03/2023 11:16

TidyDancer · 17/03/2023 08:47

What specifically bothers you about this? If they were putting it through your letterbox then fair enough but it's a bin and it's about to be emptied anyway so I'm not really seeing why it's that big of a deal.

I keep my bin clean and I don't want shit in it. That's reason enough.
