Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit!

I'm fuming. Put my wheelie bin at the top of my driveway last night for collection today, it's fairly full so the top is slightly open. Just went out this morning (it hasn't been emptied yet) and noticed someone has placed two bags full of dog shit in my bin on top of my rubbish bags! AIBU or is this absolutely disgusting? I don't have a dog and I don't want dog shit in my bin.

Probably missing the point of the thread which I haven’t read in full…but people pay money … like real cash money to have their bins cleaned?!? You know that you is the most batshit crazy thing ever, right?

To be fair, I don't think it costs that much.
But I don't see the point. It is a bin. Bins have gross stuff put in them. If you bag it properly, you wont need to have your bin cleaned.
Even if your bin stank.. so what? It is outside your house. Even the most grim (empty) bin would not kill passers by with the stench.

Dear pathetic bin shaggers, who pay waste money getting their bins (that aren't legally theirs) cleaned by professionals, feel free to put your dog shit in my bin. Cause it's a bin and I am normal and know in my heart that there is WAY more in the world to be "fuming" at then responsible dog owners, who are doing the right thing of disposing of waste in a council bin.

I only shag clean bins. Wouldn't touch your shitty bin with someone else's 😆

ExasperatedbyJanuary · 19/03/2023 06:39

Well, having your bins cleaned must be fairly normal as there are at least two companies near us that do it, so I don’t know why people are affecting to be so mystified by it 😂

Our bins are kept in the side passage outside our house, right next to the utility room door. I really don’t want them reeking to high heaven. Bins definitely do start to smell, even if you bag everything meticulously.

dogpoobin · 19/03/2023 08:40

Well I don't pay to have mine cleaned but I can see why someone would. Makes no difference who legally owns it - I also pay a cleaner to clean my home, which isn't legally mine because I rent it. I do so because I want a clean home. Wanting a clean bin is also fine and normal.

Have you ever opened a wheelie bin on a hot summer's day that has something that's spilled out or something disgusting like poo that's been put in without your knowledge? The stench is awful if there's something like that stuck at the bottom. Cleaning it means you can open the bin without your stomach turning with the smell every time you put a bag in.

This is why people don't want dog shit in their bins in the first place.

You open it each time you put a bag in - it turns my stomach if the smell is bad.

Owning a cat or not has got precisely fuck all to do with the contents of my wheelie bin.

Well if u have a cat and u let out its shitting all over your neighbours gardens and you aren't collecting it are you so I don't have sympathy re the dog poo in your bin. Happy mothers day 💓

The op has already said she doesn't have pets and it's a straw man argument anyway. If you want to spend mothers day talking about cat shit, start a separate thread.

My cat uses a litter tray which is cleaned twice daily and the rubbish kept in a sealed bag separate from other rubbish. The dog's faeces went in with it.

There seems to be an opinion that you can use any bin to dispose of dog poo. It cannot be right that the owner of the local takeaway has people use the bin outside her shop - which is next to the door of a private home - to have stinking dog poo especially in the summer. It's a bin she pays for. We had a dog bin on the path outside the care home I worked for. One resident of the adjoining estate would leave bags of poo there on the pavement. We caught him one morning and tackled him. It turned out he didn't bag the poo properly - he bred dogs - so it wasn't regarded as private waste.Residents walking to their homes thought it was unpleasant.

If your cat goes out, the chances are it also shits outside. It may also use the litter tray.

So bagging and binning dog poo is far preferable to a cat shitting wherever it likes.

Devoutspoken · 19/03/2023 12:15

Not if you're putting dog poo in my bin, and cats don't shit in the middle of the pathway

Cosyblankets · 19/03/2023 12:20

The bin was just about to be emptied so that wouldn't bother me.
If it had just been emptied and was going to be in the bin for the next two weeks that's different.
I wouldn't put my dog bags in someone's bin because it obviously bothers some but it wouldn't bother me if my bin was about to be collected and someone put theirs in mine

Don't they? What never?

Devoutspoken · 19/03/2023 12:27

Dizzylizzy, possibly, but I'm pretty sure it's not cats shitting all over the pavements round where I live

dogpoobin · 19/03/2023 12:28

Ridiculous how this has descended into an argument about how cats shitting where they like is much worse. That's just deflection from the main issue. Which is that if you actively choose to use someone else's bin to dispose of your dog's shit then that's absolutely disrespectful and disgusting. Cat owner's presumably don't actively choose to place their animal's faeces wherever they feel like it on someone's property! Not remotely comparable.

Devoutspoken · 19/03/2023 12:30

Well yes, I've never seen a cat shit on a pavement, but yeah, they're the real menace!

ExasperatedbyJanuary · 19/03/2023 12:35

This has taken a weird turn!

There are loads of cats in my neighbourhood but, funnily enough, I never have issues with cat poo. Dog shit, on the other hand, is a menace. A 5k run round the paths here is a game of dodge the dog poo. It’s vile. Dog owners like to pretend cat shit is the ‘real’ issue, but no one ever steps in cat poo on the way to school 🤔
