Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit!

I'm fuming. Put my wheelie bin at the top of my driveway last night for collection today, it's fairly full so the top is slightly open. Just went out this morning (it hasn't been emptied yet) and noticed someone has placed two bags full of dog shit in my bin on top of my rubbish bags! AIBU or is this absolutely disgusting? I don't have a dog and I don't want dog shit in my bin.

OP posts:

People have put their dog’s shit in my bin on several occasions. Each time, the poo bag wasn’t closed properly/split, meaning I had to spend ages cleaning the shit out of my bin so it wouldn't stink of dog shit (much worse than just ordinary rubbish smell).

People who put their dog’s shit in other people’s bins are SCUM.

Everyone who's got dogs, cats and babies tolerates it.

But it's their choice to have animals or a baby. OP has not chosen for someone else to have a dog, so shouldn't have to tolerate shit bags in her bin.

"these slobs who own dogs and have no regard for others' property (the bin isn't theirs either) with use the most pathetic points to justify their slobbish attitudes and total lack of regard for others."

Oh my PEARLS! So, so slobbish! Picking up their dog's poo and putting it in a bin. Maybe you should call the police OP 🙈

In someone else's bin.

There, corrected that for you. Stop abusing others' property and take responsibility for your mutt.

jemimapuddlepluck · 17/03/2023 16:39

Oil on the handles and lid. We had to do this (just used olive oil and even rubbed lard on it at one point) and for 2 weeks at least once a day I heard "fucks sake!" 😅. I wouldn't mind but there is a public bin 5 steps from our driveway 😡. When I pick up after my dog I carry it until I see a public bin. Would not dream of putting it in someone's wheelie bin.

Chocolatesandroses · 17/03/2023 16:44

I can kinda understand where you are coming from op , we live on a hill and have steps coming out to the house obviously the bin man don’t take the bin down the stairs to empty it . They literally take all the bags out and put them down the hill and then someone comes along and picks them up . If the dog poo wasn’t in a proper black bag etc they won’t even take it , if the bin is overflowing again won’t take it and then I would be completely stuck with it .

You know, I'd forgotten about that. Great idea.

I used to have a little low fence around some shrubs on my front garden, and assholes would let their dogs go inside the fences and piss on my shrugs, and often their leashes would get tangled around the fence, and the fence end up jacked out of position, bent, etc. I had to replace it several times.

Finally I smeared it with strong oils like cinnamon and eucalyptus, which got all over the leashes and their hands. People soon started curbing their dogs when passing my front garden. I'm going to do that on the bins ASAP.

Do it! It used to drive me potty and at one point I was stood at the window waiting for certain people to go past so I could go out and carry on. Like a mad woman 😱. Plus some people don't even bother tying a knot so it stinks. Not in my bin thank you very much.

IglesiasPiggl · 17/03/2023 16:50

I don't have a dog or a baby and I don't like poo in my bin. So yes, that would annoy me too.

PassTheDuckie · 17/03/2023 17:01

Happened to me too, except it wasn’t bagged. 🤢🤢🤢

leaving me to wash it out with kettles upon kettles of water, as I don’t have a hose or outside tap.

How lovely for the bin men.

Yes. Or hope they pick on the wrong home owner who would be perfectly justified in rubbing shit in their faces.

Proportionate response 😃

If dog shit inside bins attracts rats, wouldn't olive oil and lard on the outside do the same?

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 17/03/2023 17:29

This has reminded me of a guy that lives directly across from me.

One morning, on recycling collection day, I came home from the school run before the truck had been, and noticed an empty Lilt bottle had blown in to the road. Not my recycling, but I picked it up and popped it in my box, because littering.

An hour or so later I happened to look out the window and saw that the bottle had blown out of my box, and was in the road again. The guy who lives across from me picked it up, and rather than just pop it in his soon to be emptied recycling box that was centimetres away from him, walked across the road and put it in mine.

Obviously, not an issue for it to be in my recycling, but wtf? We don't get charged by item. His box was a lot emptier than mine. Just be a good citizen and pick it up!

Anyway, I'd rather live in a world full of people that don't mind something being put in to their soon to be emptied bin, than miserable people with too much time of their hands I guess.

shockthemonkey · 17/03/2023 17:29

I wouldn’t do it myself, in case of an overreaction like yours, OP.

So, whilst I frequently take mine all the way home because we haven’t passed a public bin, i wouldn’t be upset if one was dropped in my bins. As has been pointed out, it’s preferable to not picking up after your dog.

@KeHuyWinner - not sure the police would agree with you there. I can imagine that if both parties decided to call them, they'd only actually be bothered about one.

The bin men pull the wheelie bin by the handles, they wouldn't lift the lid

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 17/03/2023 17:33

Yes @OoooohMatron , and @jemimapuddlepluck stated handles and lid.

I think it's disgusting too. I own a dog but have never used someone else's bin. In the hotter weather I wouldn't want that festering in a plastic bin for a few weeks. It's just laziness when they can walk and either bin it at home or a designated bin.

The bin was literally waiting to be collected

no festering took place

It was in response to the posters quoting a pp who said that's what they hoped would happen to the dirty slobs putting a dog poo bag in someone's bin.

Boringcookingquestion · 17/03/2023 18:07

It’s rude to do it without asking but I couldn’t get worked up about it. It was in a bag and the bin was about to be emptied 🤷‍♀️

I'm far from miserable; I have a neat, clean and tidy house and grounds, and intend to keep them that way for my own enjoyment.

No doubt the same can be said for the others here who simply don't want some stranger's dog shit sullying their bins. Dog shit smells, smears, attracts vermin and is unpleasant to clean.

Carry your dog shit home with you, people. Don't inflict it on others. Job done.

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 17/03/2023 18:23

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 17/03/2023 18:02

No, it's not. Shit bags break and leak.

And when additional garbage is piled on top of them, they pop open and the shit gets smeared around. As pp here have said, a lot of the CF dog owners have no problem plopping their shit into just-emptied bins, for an unwitting homeowner to discover later.

They are entitled, self-absorbed, intrusive assholes.

This. Why do some people think having a nice home means that you're miserable. It's the opposite for me when my house is a mess I feel stressed.

DizzyLizzyKizzy · 17/03/2023 18:35

@ZeldaWillTellYourFortune sorry I missed the bit where the shit bag broke and leaked for OP!

Because it didn't happen!
