To find DH's fawning over our cat irritating?

DH really fawns over our cat. It gives me the ick. He's really soppy about it, but not in a lively, upbeat silly voice way - more in a slow, serious, intense way. He uses a slightly nauseating 'soft' voice and strokes her really slowly with his head tilted on one side. I know IABU but.... bleugh.

I make up songs about my cat and sing them to her. 😂

We have two female cats. My DH is obsessed with one of them and the feeling is mutual. As soon as she hears his voice she comes running,ignores the rest of us. She sits on his chest and gives me the evils. She lies between us in bed. He speak to her in a baby voice and I've noticed he gives her cat milk and her sister water. We all have a laugh about it.

It is tough to share a home wiht a cat if you're not a cat worshipper. Most cat owners are worshippers and would see your DH's behaviour as totally normal.

You're misunderstanding me - 'silly' baby-voice soppy - absolutely fine. I do it myself with her all the time. This is not that at all.

As much as it slightly annoys me as evidenced on our cctv our cat sits on the fence around 5pm waiting for my partner to come home when I'm in work. He doesn't wait for me. He goes to him when he wants to play and he sits on his lap!

My role is to buy him food, take him to the vet, deflea and worm him, change his litter tray and provide his early morning entertainment when I'm on the toilet.

I miss my cat. I adored her and she treated me with thinly veiled contempt, which is how it's supposed to go.

If you find it so repulsive and “nauseating” that you’re man is nice and caring with animals, then why are you with him? You’re jealous the animal gets more attention than you More like.

how would your partner feel if he knew you were laughing at him caring about his pet online?? Sure he wouldn’t appreciate you slagging his behaviour off to strangers.

They all get kisses good morning and good night and when I leave the house too 🤣 DH things I'm insane but there we go!

Can you leave the room when they're doing this? That would give them some privacy and save you having those images in your head.

i talk to my cats as if i think they know what i am saying one of mine miss needy siamese only has to see me sit down and shes on my lap like an exocet missile currently doing zoomies round the front room, the boys are more laid back
