AIBU in thinking AIBU is the correct place for this thread

www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4727323-a-woman-has-been-found-guilty-of-raping-two-women

Let's see how long this stays here.

Am I being unreasonable to think that the above thread should be right here, in AIBU, rather than tucked away in the Feminism board? Reason - because a woman doesn't need to be a feminist to be affected by this issue.

Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!

No,this shouldn't be hidden away.

Tenuouslink · 24/01/2023 18:20

YABU

Stick to naughty corner, where most have it hidden for a good reason

ResisterRex · 24/01/2023 18:21

It belongs here. This is one of many cases. It's indefensible that this male with no GRC is being held in a women's prison. This should be a fuck off great big wake up call.

Even if this male had a GRC, it doesn't mean policies should allow women's prisons to become mixed sex because that's where sex offending males prefer to be.

BewareTheMonstrousRegiment · 24/01/2023 18:25

Tenuouslink - why do you think it should be hidden in the "naughty corner"? Genuine question.

WarriorN · 24/01/2023 18:25

YANBU.

This is sick and Scotland have just enabled this to happen more easily.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 24/01/2023 18:26

the story of a man claiming to be a woman, being found guilty of rape & then sent to a woman’s prison should be shouted to the rooftops for the fucking disgrace it is

This. No YANBU OP.

PennyToffee · 24/01/2023 18:29

It's not exactly hidden away if the thread comes up on Active.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 24/01/2023 18:29

Oooh nooooo not tiresome!! Woman’s safety is tiresome??

are you really genuinely on the side of the rapist here? It’s “anti trans” to believe a man, however he presents, who is guilty of rape should not be in a woman’s prison is “tiresome”?

WarriorN · 24/01/2023 18:31

That's a pretty priveledged position to be in tenuous.

You clearly don't give two hoots for the women in the prison he's being sent to.

Most of whom will be vulnerable and may have suffered rape themselves. The female prison population is very different to the male.

WarriorN · 24/01/2023 18:31

*Privileged

Too cross to type properly

littlbrowndog · 24/01/2023 18:32

A man who raped 2 women should be in a male prison

he raped 2 women ffs

a shame on Scotland today.

her penis. It’s an insult to the women he raped that they had to hear this

BewareTheMonstrousRegiment · 24/01/2023 18:32

I believe it needs to be here because many women still are unaware of what is happening, and what is happening threatens the safety and dignity of women and children.

It isn't anti-trans - it is pro-women. I believe in kindness and I have raised my children to adopt a kind approach whenever possible. But kindness is leading women by the nose into a dark place.

You can hide this thread Tenuouslink. I will respect your point of view.

Everyone else - if you don't know what this is about - read the thread I have linked and Wake Up!

As was observed this week in the Telegraph, this case is part of a wider culture in which it's become very dangerous to be female in this country. Specifically the Scottish GRR, which would bring in self-ID, is part of a deeply concerning trend. A trend that sees a male with penis showing through leggings, saying some magic words and then gains access to spaces meant for vulnerable women.

WAKE UP

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/01/22/britain-becoming-sick-trans-debate-facts-can-cure/

"The legislation is part of a trend in which transgenderism and gender fluidity are normalised and made mainstream in culture. This is the kind of cultural context in which charities like Mermaids and even the NHS through its Tavistock clinic helped young people to make irreversible decisions to change their bodiess_. It is how governing bodies allow female sports to be ruined by trans athletes. It is how the BBC website joyfully writes up stories about children becoming drag queens, and cross-dressing men are invited to read to primary school pupils in schools and libraries.

It is how nobody stops to ask how many such men are moved to act in these ways through their own sexual desire. Autogynephilia, the feeling of sexual arousal some men feel as they pretend to be women, is according to some researchers behind many or even most cases of gender dysphoria among those born as men. It is legitimate to ask whether non-consenting women ought to be participants in such sexual fantasies."

slashlover · 24/01/2023 18:33

Maybe in Chat but it's not an AIBU is it?

ghostyslovesheets · 24/01/2023 18:34

Anti Trans? Nope Anti using transition as a mittigating factor in a rape trial - abso-fucking-lutely - even describing this rapist as 'vulnerable' due to confusion about 'gender' - ffs - she raped 2 women - as a MAN - with a penis - it is an important issue. Only started transitioning after the charge - which is also interesting - an excuse? wanting to be in a women's prison?

it's worth talking about - it doesn't need hiding away

BewareTheMonstrousRegiment · 24/01/2023 18:34

Maybe in Chat but it's not an AIBU is it?

Yes it is. These threads are hidden away in the naughty corner. Why? Am I being unreasonable in thinking they should not be so hidden?

OP posts:
PennyToffee · 24/01/2023 18:36

The thread you have linked to is already in Active.

WarriorN · 24/01/2023 18:36

I think slash may be suggesting your post is so extremely reasonable no one needs to query it.

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 24/01/2023 18:36

Yanbu.

Women can't commit rape as they don't have a penis. (In England and Scotland at least)

If you have a penis you're a man. If you rape someone with said penis you should be in a men's prison.

Some people don't know this is happening, it needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Men belong in men's prisons.

Please, please explain what is "tiresome" about a current event that will concern so many women?
Im not anti-trans but I am anti-rapist and don't think a rapist gets to have much say in how I speak about him or where he goes to prison (and he must be a man as in Scotland rape can only be committed with a penis)

BewareTheMonstrousRegiment · 24/01/2023 18:38

The thread you have linked to is already in Active.

But not everyone look there, do they. Why can't it be here? There are threads on relationships, mental health, pets and all sorts of matters here, when there are specific places for such threads. Not an eye is batted. Why can;t we discuss an important issue like this right here?

OP posts:
SlipperyLizard · 24/01/2023 18:39

If the BBC says one more time that this person raped two women “while she was still a man” then I swear I will throw my Alexa on the fire.

At least everyone now understands what “transwoman” means, and how it differs from the notion of a “transsexual” - given that 90% of transwomen retain their penis.

PennyToffee · 24/01/2023 18:41

I agree it should be discussed on here but I don't agree that the feminism board is hidden away. Not unless people have chosen to hide it.
