Am I being unreasonable to think that the above thread should be right here, in AIBU, rather than tucked away in the Feminism board? Reason - because a woman doesn't need to be a feminist to be affected by this issue.

In case anyone was in any doubt about just how comprehensively male bodied this individual is, here is "Isla" outside court yesterday.

If "Isla" is so confident displaying male anatomy while in court being tried for rape - a crime which, of course, requires said male anatomy - then it hardly seems a stretch to think they won't lack confidence about showing it in a woman's prison either.

I am sick to death of this. Sick of people being deleted/banned for speaking the truth. MN should be ashamed.

I have had low level anger about this story all day. No one in my every day life seems to care much - I have no one to talk to about it in RL as it’s usually “oh, just let people be who they want to be!” or “yes I agree but what can you do?” Then change the subject.

I sometimes feel like I’m walking amongst the living dead. People are sleepwalking into this, mainly because they are ignorant of the facts and because it isn’t being broadcast in mainstream news.

Why isn’t everyone raging about this? Why isn’t it front page news?

Sorry if this has already been posted, but this is going to keep happening, women, vulnerable woman, can't be guaranteed that intimate care will not be performed by men identifying as women. And if they complain they'll be called bigots and have treatment withdrawn. At least one woman was raped on a hospital ward by a man identifying as a woman, then gaslight by the hospital, that no 'men' were on the ward.

I am fuming about this, I really need to hear from someone who thinks this is ok, I need to try and understand the mentality behind it, because I just don't fucking get it. Not on a single level do I understand it. How can anyone be so callous towards vulnerable women? I have 2 daughters and I feel absolutely sick with despair at what the future holds for them.

This is sickening- prisons, hospital wards etc… where when you’re raped they lie and say you couldn’t have been as no man on the ward.

So you can't call a spade a spade but you can call a man a woman.

Can you explain why you think it's OK for this person - who very clearly has a penis - to be housed in a women's prison? Or have I misunderstood?

I feel physically sick reading this. Having committed a (the only?) horrific crime only men can commit, not once but twice, he suddenly decided he was a woman? After he was charged of course. And the whole justice system has said “oh ok then, you’ve decided you’re a woman so you must be” and put him in a women’s prison? I can’t believe what I’m reading, even after all the toilet issues etc.

How can anybody justify putting them in a women's prison? I can’t understand how one person could think it ok let alone the whole Justice system.
