www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/4727323-a-woman-has-been-found-guilty-of-raping-two-women

Let's see how long this stays here.

Am I being unreasonable to think that the above thread should be right here, in AIBU, rather than tucked away in the Feminism board? Reason - because a woman doesn't need to be a feminist to be affected by this issue.

Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!

I think this is just a terrible mess however being told to "Wake Up" annoys the shit out of me and assumed that you are enlightened and us plebs are all bouncing around blindfolded and stupid.
People can see what is happening to the world we don't need to "wake up".

Proudofitbabe · 24/01/2023 20:46

Bravo, OP. This needs calling out for the dangerous, insane, reality-denying, women-hating bullshit it is.

How as a society have we reached a place where we'd rather put actual rapists in with women than offend the delusions of criminals? It is chilling to see mainstream media refer to "Isla" as "she" in a rape caption. Anyone complicit in this belongs in a cell with him.

MrsTerryPratchett · 24/01/2023 20:49

I think there is an empathy fail. Imagine being a woman in prison. You can't escape, can't hide. You are almost overwhelmingly likely to already have been the victim of male violence. And probably childhood trauma, violence and coercion. You may have ahead injury or LD, probably MH issues.

Then enters a rapist. A multiple rapist.

The terror these women must feel. Locked in with a rapist.

Catonlapfireon · 24/01/2023 20:50

It’s convenient for people to ‘other’ female prisoners (often victims of adverse childhood experiences) and people may think ‘well I’ll never end up in prison, so not my problem’.
I wonder if thinking this person, this rapist could have been in the toilet stall next to you, in the changing room next to you, the hospital bed next to you etc as they seem to have been walking around freely to be caught on camera.

Calmdown14 · 24/01/2023 20:51

I can see why 'wake up' is annoying but from the other side, people feel like they have been shouting into the darkness.

It's okay for one side to side to say 'educate yourself ' but when women do this they are shrieking or frothing.

There is a lot of emotion around the fact the poor victims were forced to address their attacker as she and now this person is spending the night in a women's prison.

This isn't about trans rights anymore. That movement has been well and truly hijacked.

If I can get one more person to read articles like this
grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/the-grooming-of-holyrood
And tell one more person then OP yes, you are not being unreasonable to post here

BewareTheMonstrousRegiment · 24/01/2023 20:53

All of you who are saying you feel patronised as you already know - fine if that’s what you are taking from my post. you are somewhat missing the point. Not everyone does know. Some people have a little knowledge - perhaps they have just seen headlines - and think it doesn’t affect them. That’s who I’m talking to.

This is absolutely sickening

LavenderHillMob · 24/01/2023 20:57

YA so NBU. This isn't a niche issue.

I'm So sick of hearing this is a minority issue affecting a tiny percentage of the most vulnerable.

It affects the 50% of the population that happens to be women and girls

If people are finding this patronising it's because this topic has been tucked away on the boards for 'hysterical women'. That we should just shut up and BE KIND and let a group most at risk of persecution, suicide, oppression live how ever they want and we should all let them get on with it as they just want to live their lives.

Except that's fucking bollocks now (pun intended) and we've had enough and need more women to speak out.

The conversation doesn't end there, it's now affecting not just vulnerable women but all women, who have fought for years to have hard fought for rights being trampled on and torn away in case we hurt men's feelings and need for validation (as it's always men).

Your Emma Watson's of the world will never find themselves in a place where this horrifying movement will affect them (prison, rape crisis centres, vulnerable women's hostels, elite sports). It's not just about toilets.

If all you take from posts like this is 'how patronising' then just do one. I don't care.

Mollyollydolly · 24/01/2023 21:13

It should be here. It should be on the front page of every newspaper, it should be leading the ten o'clock news on the BBC. If not, why not?

It should be here. It should be on the front page of every newspaper, it should be leading the ten o'clock news on the BBC. If not, why not?

It’s just women. Vulnerable women

all I have seen on news today is that man who killed his partner and 3 children and then the other woman who was killed by a man who was on probation

it’s like an avalanche of women and children being killed by men or raped by men when it could off been prevented.

why has it not been stopped.

guess I am frothing

Here's a long running thread which began in 2018 of "it will never happen" - but it fucking did records.

This dude is another one in Scotland. He sexually assaulted a 10year old girl.

but now in women’s prison

The majority of those 760 posts are cases where male abusers claimed to be TW or were - it's actually hard to know in a world of self ID and no need to be diagnosed with GD.

The idiocy of the Scottish gov's idea of trans rights actually harms those who might be seen as "true trans." Truly dysphoric males.

As well as harming the safety of women and girls and also all children who are far more likely to attempt medical transition if they've been able to socially transition.

WarriorN · 24/01/2023 21:31

THE VETY FIRST POST on that thread is a study of gender neutral changing rooms in Target in the state and increased in sexual assault charges.

Abstract:
Background: There is an almost complete lack of statistical data on the relationship between gender-identity policies and incidents of sexual violence in bathrooms and change rooms. Using Target stores as a case study, we analyzed 220 media-reported sexual offenses in Target stores from 2003 to August of 2017 to determine the association, if any, between their gender-identity access policy made public in April 2016 and reported sexual offenses in their stores.
Results: Sexual incidents increased over the course of the entire timeframe of the media reports. In particular, voyeurism-related offenses (Upskirt and Peeping Tom) increased significantly after the publication of Target’s gender-inclusion policy in April, 2016. The three-season forced-category measurement found a 2.3x increase in the amount of upskirt incidents after the policy, and a 2.9x increase in peeping tom incidents after the policy. In a Poisson regression, using trimesters to control for seasonal variations in offenses, the fold change in rate from the four year pre-policy period to the post-policy period was 3.03 for Upskirt and 3.14 for Peeping Tom. Using a two year pre-policy period, the rate change was 2.16 times for Upskirt and 2.34 times for Peeping Tom.

Conclusion: While media-loss remains a limitation in the analysis, the present study supports the theory that sex predators may take opportunities afforded by gender-inclusion policies to perpetrate sexual violence against women in public spaces. No other theory seems to account for the significant and precisely-timed increase seen in the Target reports. Further study would be helpful to compare police reports to media-reported crime and to geographically match Target with similar stores to investigate whether sexual offenses have increased elsewhere.

It's well known that voyeurism-related offenses lead to other bigger sex related crimes.

I agree with every single word you have posted on this thread. I always find it strange that the "be kind" posters never extend that kindness to vulnerable women.

All the best op,

Why do you keep posting this on threads? You post it all over the place. What's your point? It never contributes to a discussion.
