Have you posted my item yet?

I decided to have a huge clear out and sell things on Vinted - ended up selling over 20 things so it’s been a bit mad wrapping everything and getting them all posted.

Vinted states I have 5 working days to post an item and I’ve posted 15 so far in 3 days. Yet i’ve had people messaging asking if I’ve posted their item yet when even now I’m in the timeframe. One asked me less than 24 hours later.

Am I being unreasonable to want to tell them to piss off. Obviously I won’t, but I think they think they are buying from Amazon.

Lots of entitled sellers acting as if they are doing buyers a favour by flogging them used clothing and making a point that it's not possible to despatch quickly as they're just too busy with more important stuff.

These days you print off the label, drop it at the nearest drop off point, usually round the corner as they are everywhere, job done. Takes a few minutes and the days of queuing at the local post office are long gone. If you genuinely haven't got time and CBA then just put your old clothes in a charity bag and leave outside your house.

Saying that, a lot of buyers are completely irrational and ridiculous. People seem to exist on a knife edge these days, always quick to kick off and permanently "furious" at every perceived slight or injustice. We're a nation of heart attacks waiting to happen.

A bit of patience and courtesy all round is needed here.

ohpinkgorl · 20/01/2023 08:28

Your not being unreasonable at all
You have 5 days -so you post within your 5 days.
This post actually made me laugh because I posted that a buyer on day 6 still hadn't collected her vinted parcel from shop..
I received replies "they have 10 days to collect ,they have other things going on"
"Vinted give 10 days for collection -chill out"
Etc
So it's not okay for you to take 5 days to post but it's okay for me to wait 10 days for them to collect
The irony .....
So no don't worry -they are being annoying

😂😂

Entitled sellers, forsooth. No-one has to buy off sites such as Vinted.

You want speedy delivery? Pay the prices accordant with that.

You want cheap clothes and instant delivery? Try a jumble sale.

You want to sit on your arse at home, ordering cheap/second hand clothes and paying minimal delivery? Expect to wait a little bit longer for your order.

Lastarse · 20/01/2023 09:26

@Shodan the same could be applied to the sellers, if they need the money so badly then they should not be selling cheap second hand clothes, washing, taking pics of them and uploading them to a second hand selling platform then sitting on their arse for 5 days eyerolling and moaning about their customers.

Oh the judgment. I don’t need the money so badly thanks. I made close to £400 this week, where I’ll donate £100 to charity and use the extra £300 for a days spending money when I’m on holiday next month.

Plus the added bonus of clearing unwanted items from my house and recycling.

The key is right there, most sellers "don't need money so badly" and they won't/can't quit their jobs and families to send your parcel right now. Some posters on this thread are so uptight it's a hilarious read. I have one of this lot buyers who purchased a stunning pair of barely ever worn rather expensive shoes from me. I sold 6 pairs over one weekend as I had a clear out, all other buyers came back immediately with excellent feedback, all money transferred...that one was chasing for update before I even took a breath and now she's sitting on her delivered order not providing feedback or money 😂😂😂 So predictable, am opening popcorn as next thing she'll report an issue that isn't in my 16 detailed photos and doesn't exist 😂😂😂 there's two types of people in the world, the reasonable and the unreasonable types!

You come across really unpleasant op calling people "hun" and getting annoyed when they have a different view to you.

You keep saying you are not a business. Perhaps not but tou habe entered a business deal with these people who are buying your clothing.

I have used vinted many times as a buyer I can recall once where I did not get an email saying "thank you for your purchase. ' In one case they said "we go to the post office on Tuesdays and Fridays. " some say "we endeavour to post ASAP but sometimes it takes up to 5 days for us to do so"

You keep saying "you don't have the time" you literally need 1 standard email you then ping off.

I am not surprised you haven't got repeat customers.

Who has repeat customers on Vinted?! 😂😂

When I was furloughed I had a huge clear out and I sold between 200-300 items. Not one was a repeat customer because I’m not selling the same type of items/categories.

And I always had amazing feedback, packaged well and within 24-48 hours.

Its always the people that say you come across unpleasant, nasty, angry, mean etc and then said poster goes on to do what they just accused someone else of doing.

SwingandaPrayer · 22/01/2023 23:12

I buy from Vinted and would expect posting to be done before 5 days. Also, as they can review you as a seller this can be mentioned and be reflected in your rating. Crap, I know, but that's how it works.

Plenty have repeat customers. If you know a seller often has what you like you return to see what they have in their items. I have sellers I've returned to. My dd has buyers she has had do repeat business. I am not personally a seller on vinted.

I dont know what your latter post is about as I was not rude to op. I merely pointed out she came across that way. I didn't say she was. Plenty of people struggle with tone in written text. Calling someone "hun" in writing is almost always meant as a downput hence I used it as an example.

If you are packaging and sending within 24-48 hours then you are not doing similar to op. Hence if what you send is what you describe you would have good feedback.

Very clever

I purchased a couple of things from provate sellers on eBay in December.
One woman got really stroppy and said I was being impatient when I let her know a week after it was supposed to arrive that it hadn't. The tracking indicated it had been sent by courier, but it came via Royal Mail.
The other seller, I'd purchased using "buy it now" but the woman didn't post it until the wauction would have ended over a week later.
Was a bit hacked off with both og them TBH

mathanxiety · 23/01/2023 00:33

People buying baby and children's clothes are more likely to be repeat buyers on Vinted and on other sites too. If you liked the stuff you bought from a seller whose baby stuff was maybe 6-12 months ahead of what your baby is wearing, it would make sense to go back and check jf they were having another clear out six monyhs after the first. This is why it might pay to demonstrate basic courtesy.

mathanxiety · 23/01/2023 00:39

@AlwaysGoingBackwards

What do you imagine 'in escrow' means?

Jknow · 23/01/2023 00:41

I’ve sold a few things on Vinted, sometimes I post the same day, sometimes it might take me 5 days. I have to drive to the drop off point and so it gets there when it’s convenient for me, if I’m making a special trip for something I sold for £1, then it’s not worth my while.

likewise, just about everything I’ve bought on Vinted has taken a week or more to arrive. That’s fine, I’m in no hurry, it’s not the platform I’d use if I needed something urgently.

Porridgeislife · 23/01/2023 06:38

@mathanxiety no one is running a repeat business baby clothes cartel on Vinted. Buyers are told the seller has 5 days to post, this is not eBay or Amazon or John Lewis or anywhere markedly more expensive. There’s no “courtesy” involved.

No one is going to make a special trip the moment you click buy to post a £2 baby top, not is it reasonable to expect them to.

This is not the hill to die on.
