I decided to have a huge clear out and sell things on Vinted - ended up selling over 20 things so it’s been a bit mad wrapping everything and getting them all posted.

Vinted states I have 5 working days to post an item and I’ve posted 15 so far in 3 days. Yet i’ve had people messaging asking if I’ve posted their item yet when even now I’m in the timeframe. One asked me less than 24 hours later.

Am I being unreasonable to want to tell them to piss off. Obviously I won’t, but I think they think they are buying from Amazon.

I think people are used to quick despatch if they use ebay, amazon etc. I know I would be annoyed if it took 5 days for someone to post something. Perhaps stagger your listings rather than list 20 things so you can post quicker.

Lialou · 18/01/2023 23:01

What I cant cope with on vinted is when you post same day (which I always do), but then the hold up is with the courier and the tracking is clearly there and yet I still get asked where the item is 🤯

ChopSuey2 · 18/01/2023 23:02

I don't use vinted but if it's anything like eBay/Etsy etc surely they can message to ask if it's possible to send something quickly before they buy? I've done that on other sites (I'm really bad at remembering to buy presents before it's last minute). If the person says they can't, I can choose whether or not to buy. If they haven't asked in advance, I think they are being unreasonable.

StopFeckingFaffing · 18/01/2023 23:03

Agree with @Acheyknees

Lesson learned for next time you are selling things!

I'm never used Vinted but done lots of buying and selling on eBay and the norm would be for item to be dispatched within 2 days unless it is clearly stated that there may be a delay in posting. I guess that is what most people have come to expect when buying stuff online.

user1471503652 · 18/01/2023 23:04

Yep. I find some buyers fairly aggressive on there too. I opened a message from a buyer who was enquiring where her delivery was, read the message and thought "I will reply to that properly when I've finished doing XYZ" but after a few minutes she had messaged me again saying it was rude I hadn't replied as she had seen I had read the message.

It's a lot of agro for a couple of quid to be honest. Plus all the "offers"... selling an item for £2.00 so they make an offer for £1.80 Confused

I've got a load of stuff on there and keep meaning to take it all down and donate to charity because it's so much faff... but then I forget and my stomach sinks when I get a notification that I've sold something

Why should I stagger my listings if I’m posting everything on time? If you’d be annoyed at someone taking 5 days to post something (which again someone moaned at me after less than a day) then you shouldn’t n be using websites like Vinted, Depop etc

Vinted allow up to 5 working days. I just don’t think people can moan and expected same day or 1-2 days when they aren’t buying from a big company.

Agree with other pp. 5 days is a long time. Rather than fixating on what Vinted "allow" consider what your buyer expects. I used to sell a lot on Ebay and always posted within two days.

Yep me too. People are used to fast service and post takes long enough without the hold up at your end. As someone else suggested earlier I stagger mine, makes it much easier to get them out quickly.

renonovice · 18/01/2023 23:23

just put a message in your listings that postage will take X days. I don't fret re super fast postage when selling or buying on ebay etc. Obviously most people have a life & an actual job so don't have time to go to the PO everyday.

renonovice · 18/01/2023 23:23

oh & Ive been selling on ebay for years & yrs. never had a complaint re stuff not arriving asap.

Kitcaterpillar · 18/01/2023 23:25

I honestly couldn't care less what people 'expect' when they're spending £4 on some toddler clothes.

latetothefisting · 18/01/2023 23:25

to be fair, until I sold for the first time on vinted I didn't know that the dispatch time was 5 days, so assumed it was 2-3 like ebay etc. they don't make it particularly clear for buyers. The biggest issue I find is if they choose inpost and the lockers are always full!

NotAnotherBathBomb · 18/01/2023 23:25

OP you're asking, and people are telling you what they think. As someone who's also sold on vinted, I send by day 2. It takes about 48 hours once you send the parcel. If you wait until the 5th day (which we all know by this point in the thread is the deadline) that's 7 days. I expect something I'm paying to have couriered to be with me in less than a week 🤷🏽‍♀️

MyOtherCarIsAHearse · 18/01/2023 23:29

I usually send within two or three but I’m off work this week, and I sold an item late Saturday night. Can’t get to the locker drop-off until Friday. It is what it is. I’m not a business.

Duttercup · 18/01/2023 23:30

I use the full 5 days sometimes and have never had any complaints. I'm not Amazon. If someone wants something quickly, they can pay shop prices.

BluIsTheColour · 18/01/2023 23:33

I chased someone this week as it had been 4 days and no communication no dispatch notice. I wouldn't usually chase something up on eBay unless a week or so had passed. However, I find on Vinted, some folk just don't send the item and u get refunded about a week later. I've only bought maybe about 30 items and this has happened at least 3-4 times to me.

I chased this time as I found same time for about same price so wanted to know I was def getting it or I'd have bought the other one. It's been a week now and it's been sent but I still don't have it. It's very relaxed on vinted compared to eBay I think. Always usually takes a week plus to get something. I'm impatient lol.

It’s not a business. I get things out as fast as I can but ultimately I am allowed 5 working days.

I sold countless things in Depop in lockdown and probably sold close to 100 items in a year. I never had repeat buyers.

OP posts:
WineDup · 18/01/2023 23:44

For the record you actually have up to 14 days to post, and potentially more if there are public holidays.

Its 5 working days to download the label, and then 5 to send after that. Weekends and public holidays don’t count

BurtonsRevenge · 18/01/2023 23:45

Stop giving your buyers poor service and send promptly. 5 days is the maximum amount of time you are obliged to send in , not your target. Try to see it from your buyer's point of view

I don’t want to stagger them for the fact that I’m getting rid of so much and I just want my house organised and turn my spare room into an office.

Cactusprick · 18/01/2023 23:47

Nah you’re not being unreasonable at all. The policy is 5 days, so you have 5 days! The point is that Vinted knows you’re not a business and therefore probably have a job/ other commitments, therefore giving you a full 5 days to send.
As someone else said, if people want something quicker then of shop prices.

The OP said they have been sending within 3 days. They’re not using 5 days as their target at all

😂😂 poor service? Get a grip. I’m not a business. Where did I say 5 days is my target? Oh no I didn’t. Nor has it even been 5 days at this point.

Yes, YABU.

You should keep your buyers updated. It's basic, courteous customer service.
