What is your bmi if you feel slim?

Just that really! I have been losing weight since September and am down down to a bmi of 26, i.e almost in the healthy range. But I still have a lot of visible body fat. Anyone else have experience of this? Maybe it's more toning I need.

I’m mid healthy BMI and feel ‘average’. When I feel slim I’m round about 18ish BMI - lower end of healthy. Apart from when I was doing CrossFit and I was middle of healthy but muscular so smaller IYSWIM. Right now I’m a flabby size 8/10.

Endofdaysarehere · 12/01/2023 09:13

I feel slim when a size 8, which is a BMI 24 for me (at 6ft tall).
currently sitting at size 12, BMI 25, so a bit to go.

AutumnIsMyFavouriteSeason · 12/01/2023 09:14

I have worked hard to go from 30 to 25 BMI but I look 'right' now. If I lose more I'm going to look too skinny/saggy. Working on toning now rather than BMI as I don't think I can really lose any more weight without looking gaunt. Differs from person to person I guess. I blame mine on bone weight - big heavy bones...Grin

22, I feel slim in clothes but flabby without

Craghopper1 · 12/01/2023 09:24

When I'm BMI 20.

eurochick · 12/01/2023 09:28

BMI 21. By bmi 23-24 I'm starting to feel chunky.

howaboutchocolate · 12/01/2023 09:34

It's going to depend massively on body type. I can feel slim at a BMI of 26 because most of my weight is in my lower half, so at that BMI I have a relatively small waist and a flat stomach.
I'm currently at a BMI of 29 and don't feel flabby because I do strength training but I'd like to lose a few inches.

babyyodaxmas · 12/01/2023 09:37

20-21 start feeling heavier at 23, 25 is big for me, but I have a small frame.

lifter · 12/01/2023 09:46

I'm at the low end of a healthy BMI and feel alright, possibly a little over what I'd like.

BUT I've struggled with ED in the past, and know these threads pull in people either like or worse than me, so I wanted to say please take what people here say with a pinch of salt. Eating disorders are very easy to get started!

Is there any way you could have a few sessions with a personal trainer to talk things over professionally?

roarfeckingroarr · 12/01/2023 09:46

When I'm not pregnant, mine sits around 20-21.

Wiennetta · 12/01/2023 09:48

My BMI is 18/19 and I look and feel ‘slim’. I’m tall so it’s a bit skewed and I definitely don’t look underweight with that BMI. I’m a size 8-10.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 12/01/2023 09:51

20ish I look slim.

Roseelane · 12/01/2023 09:51

Mine's 19, and I feel good and healthy at this level.

LaurieFairyCake · 12/01/2023 09:51

Mine is 29/30 and I'm a size 12

I'm perfectly happy and healthy enough at this weight - yes I'm overweight but my figure is hourglass and my waist is 27 so I look normal

I've also lost 5 stone so frankly I'd be happy even if I didn't lose more weight

Before having children slim for me was between 18-19. I used to work out a lot and was toned.

Now I'm happy around 20-21, but much more I start feeling like I'm carrying too much weight for my frame and preference.

Nsenene · 12/01/2023 09:56

Currently at 25 and a size 12. I feel slim, and never really been below 21/22 size 10. Was briefly around 20/size 8 and felt I was starting to look gaunt and losing all my shape.

Highabovethetrees · 12/01/2023 09:57

About 20/21. For me, I am 'overweight' by about 23 (as in unhealthy waist size - all goes on my stomach!) but I have a very small frame, very thin bones, my wrists are tiny. I'm 5'4, so my 'healthy' weight can go up to about 10.5 stone I think, but past 9.5 stone is too heavy for me. My 'natural' weight seems to be between 8 and 8.5 stone.

Ansjovis · 12/01/2023 09:58

BMI of 22, body fat percentage 22%, I get told that I am 'tiny' a lot.

oversized · 12/01/2023 09:59

like someone else said, it's where you carry your weight.

i feel slim at bmi 20 -9 st 7 lbs.

i'm 10 stone 2lbs this morning- bmi of 21.2 and i feel a bit blubbery.

i'm 5 ft 9, broad framed and carry weight in my middle - short torso looks awful when flabbier.

i'm starting to worry less about bmi and am going more on waist measurements and focusing on building strength/burning fat.

Bilingualspingual · 12/01/2023 10:00

Mine is 21.5 and like others, I think I have quite a small frame so this is about right for me.

NewNameNigel · 12/01/2023 10:00

My bmi is 26. I'm 5 foot 4 and a size 10-12. I'm not skinny but have flat stomach and toned arms and legs. I do a lot of heavy weight lifting though. My weight hasn't changed much since I started but my body has.

lovelilies · 12/01/2023 10:01

My BMI is 21.5 and I'm definitely on the porky side.

I need to lose about 5kg to feel slim (about 0.75-1 stone)

Yarrawonga · 12/01/2023 10:02

Between 19-20. Size 6. I lift heavy weights.
