What is your bmi if you feel slim?

Just that really! I have been losing weight since September and am down down to a bmi of 26, i.e almost in the healthy range. But I still have a lot of visible body fat. Anyone else have experience of this? Maybe it's more toning I need.

Aibu to post in aibu?

24/25 is right for me. It's hard to maintain lower than that. I do workout though and have toned waist muscles etc

countrypunk · 12/01/2023 11:25

Mine is 21 at the moment. I have a small frame though and feel much better at around 19. I'm also extremely un-muscular and any fat I put on is immediately noticeable on my belly. My waist measurement is a bit too high for my weight/height - NHS says that you can have a healthy weight and still have too much tummy weight, and a waist of 80cm or more is too high for any woman.

Allezallezallez2023 · 12/01/2023 11:38

23.3
I would like to loose a stone and tone up a bit to feel my best. I’d say I’m “fairly slim”

dolorsit · 12/01/2023 11:41

First of all remember that there is a healthy BMI range so for some a bmi of 24 will be great but others it will not.

It's also a question of perception my BMI is currently 27 and I feel great in size 12 clothing. However I've come down from a BMI of 32. I can I remember when I first hit this weight 25 years ago and I definitely felt fat (was also in size 14s then)

I felt slim at bmi 19 but was regarded as too skinny. Started to feel overweight at around bmi 22 but never did anything about it as I knew that I was healthy weight.

bluetongue · 12/01/2023 12:00

I’ve been losing weight and my current BMI is 24. I didn’t really start losing my belly fat until I was about 1kg under the weight where I switched from overweight to healthy BMI. My stomach is now noticeably flatter.

I’m not exactly slim yet but I’m short and curvy so will need to lose another couple of kilos at least.

@Howabsolutelyfanfuckingtastic

do you feel and symptoms of being underweight? I notice I feel the cold so severely. And do you get comments from people about your weight?

Yes i'm always cold, especially hand and feet. Sometimes my feet can't get warm of a night with thick fluffy socks on and a thick duvet. People say i look slim and sometimes my face looks a bit drawn. My DH says i have no cheeks. This is my happy weight though, it's important to feel happy within ourselves.

MorrisZapp · 12/01/2023 14:30

These threads are always so depressing. They fill up with very slim people giving all the reasons why they feel chubby. I know I shouldn't look but here we are.

Wish I hadn't had that curly wurly now.

Isn’t anything over 25 overweight?

My BMI is 22, I’m 5 ft 7 and a size 10 so I feel pretty slim. Work really hard for it though, I’m not naturally slim. I have to lift weights and run a lot.

Bagwyllydiart · 12/01/2023 14:46

I am 6ft with a BMI of 19 at 10 stone. Same weight for the last 40 years

honeyytoast · 12/01/2023 14:47

I felt slim at bmi 22, I’m around 24 now and don’t feel/look fat, but my stomach sticks out more than I’d like. I’m not toned at all though

cantba · 12/01/2023 14:50

Around 18. I'm 5ft 8. I'm curvy in shape though so need to be verging on underweight to look really slim.

Holeinthetoad · 12/01/2023 14:52

20, which is a clothing size 10 for me

Babyclb · 12/01/2023 15:06

BMI 18.5, look and generally feel slim.

GettingRidic · 12/01/2023 15:11

BMI 10. Size 2, tall and willowy. 6' 1"height. 50kg weight.

Should be a top model really.

BloodAndFire · 12/01/2023 15:14

Bmi is currently 20.2 and I feel too heavy.

Usual bmi is around 19.0 and I prefer it that way.

Although this winter has been slightly less painful due to extra fat.

Bmi 21+ is definitely too high for me. I do a lot of weights in the gym and I'm 5 ft 8 and a size 8-10.

blebbleb · 12/01/2023 15:15

Currently bmi of 27 and have lost a stone recently. Felt my best when it was 23, so towards the higher end of normal as I look too gaunt any slimmer.

LiarLiarKnickersAblaze · 12/01/2023 15:17

I’m 22.9 and need to lose 7.5 pounds to be 21.8 which is my ideal weight/bmi

Tigofigo · 12/01/2023 15:25

18.5-19.5 for me. Currently almost 21 and am very flabby with big sticky out stomach. I have small frame/bones and don't have much muscle at all which is partly why I feel better at a low BMI.

SweetSenorita · 12/01/2023 15:33

I'm 22.5 at the moment but that's me at the top end of my range. I feel pretty uncomfortable. I've just started cutting for a competition later in the year.

My off season ideal is 20. And my stage BMI will be around 18: need to get rid of all the fat 😚

TheWorstWeek · 12/01/2023 15:34

When I last felt at my slimmest was pre-kids, aged 25 and a size 8-10. Back then my BMI was about 20-21. Now in my early thirties and two kids later my BMI is about 27 and I don't feel slim any more but I wouldn't say I'm particularly overweight either. I am hoping to exercise more and would like to lose 1-2 stone in the next year or so which would bring my BMI about 23 which I think I'd be happy with.

That being said, I think BMI is a terrible measure of health

neverendinglauaundry · 12/01/2023 15:38

I'm overweight (probably about 27) but feel good at 23/24/25 BMI
At BMI 18 my hip bones stick out, but I haven't been that kind of weight since I was a teen.

TurtleTriplets · 12/01/2023 16:00

I am 22.8 and feel very fat at the moment! I feel slimish at 21.7 but have never actually felt slim. My lowest has been 20.6 and I still felt a bit flabby round the stomach area.

I am short though which makes a difference.

Bananallamarama · 12/01/2023 16:01

22 and I feel slim but I’m tall which helps.

I’ve been as low as 18 and looking back on photos, I looked skeletal. I have a much nicer shape now even if it is slightly wobblier

I agree - these threads are like catnip to those eager to post that they are 5ft 3 and 8 stone, but only feel slim when they’re 7.5 stone or whatever.

Theae threads also don’t address the bigger societal issue of why so many individual women are only happy when they’re at (or below!) the bottom end of a healthy weight range and not happy towards the top end of a healthy weight range. Is it that media expectations and portrayals of women make a lot of us want to be on the very small side of normal BMI?

But your cold all the time? You aren't comfortable

Genuinely of you feel your body is best at a point where you can't get warm at night time I would gently suggest an issue with body image
