To buy a load of Prime drinks?

I’m currently abroad and those Prime drinks that everyone is going gaga over in the UK for, are easily available here and only £1.40 a bottle. AIBU to buy a boatload and sell them all on eBay when I get back to the UK next week? I’ve seen people selling empty bottles for £50 each on eBay!! I think it’s ridiculous that people are paying those prices but, I wouldn’t be forcing anyone to buy them, I’d just stick them into auction and people can pay whatever they’re willing to pay. A fool and their money and all that? Should I cash in whilst I can?

They might be advertised on EBay for that amount, but how many have bids on ?

There are also lots of bottles in there for cost price

Don’t believe the hype

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 11/01/2023 22:45

Yanbu. I would.

Saisong · 11/01/2023 22:47

I walked past a shop on our local high st - one of the phone repair type ones with bottles of Prime in the window for £12!!!

Restlessinthenorth · 11/01/2023 22:53

Do it. You will make a fortune. ALL the kids I know are mad for the bloody stuff

SeenAndNot · 11/01/2023 22:55

I would.

CoffeeBoy · 11/01/2023 22:57

I saw loads in my local Spar today for normal price and people weren’t buying it so I think you may have missed the boat.

Scurryfunge12 · 11/01/2023 22:57

I know the shops are doing it but I find something distasteful about taking advantage of kids like this. I wouldn’t.

But kids don’t have eBay accounts, it’s the parents who are buying it.

Do it

mrsbyers · 11/01/2023 23:01

How are you going to get them back ? Liquids are banned in hand luggage and there’s a weight restriction on checked luggage

So you’re going to take advantage of parents trying to make their kids happy then? Just because shops do it, it doesn’t mean you should jump on the bandwagon. That’s just my opinion though. £50 for an empty bottle just takes the piss from the other eBay sellers.

takealettermsjones · 11/01/2023 23:02

They're in the corner shop near me for £2 🤷🏻‍♀️

mogsrus · 11/01/2023 23:02

Cost of living crisis, but spend stupidly on sugar drinks, never ceases to amaze

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/01/2023 23:02

What are prime drinks?

TokyoSushi · 11/01/2023 23:03

I think you might be a bit too late, just by a couple of weeks. DS was beyond desperate for it at the beginning of December, now he has 14 (I know) bottles in his bedrooms! It's definitely easier to get than it was!

Teridavis · 11/01/2023 23:13

Just do what you want lol don’t know why you’ve asked on here to seek validation or praise as if re selling is some new idea that no one is aware of.

DividedHouses · 11/01/2023 23:19

what about the power? is that still hard to get? Not so heavy.

Thatboymum · 11/01/2023 23:32

I think it’s become much more readily available in the last week or so in more shops you’d be wasting your time. Also it was in the news paper a few weeks ago to watch for people selling privately as some people were buying it online and actually receiving bottles of it filled with pee which would 100% put me off buying it

704703hey · 11/01/2023 23:39

What do they actually TASTE like?

Mañanarama · 11/01/2023 23:45

They’re £2 a bottle in Asda and Aldi so I reckon that ship has sailed! Seems some flavours are rarer though so do your homework and see if it’s worth it.

Homedeco · 11/01/2023 23:47

What makes you think the hype won’t die down? It’s already common knowledge the drinks are average and overpriced. Just because someone’s selling an empty container for £50, doesn’t mean someone else will buy it

Mañanarama · 11/01/2023 23:47

704703hey · 11/01/2023 23:39

What do they actually TASTE like?

Really concentrated cordial! I’ve had a sip of some of them and didn’t want any more.

trythisforsize · 11/01/2023 23:53

This craze is going to be over any day. Loads of shops are sticking them - as soon as they're easy to buy its game over.

oudie · 11/01/2023 23:57

Buy a boatload?

YANBU if you have a boat...

Eccle80 · 11/01/2023 23:58

As the others said, I would be cautious. I think there was a lot of demand in the run up to Christmas as kids had it on their lists, but demand a bit lower now plus it seems a bit easier to get hold of. Some flavours might be more worthwhile than others, I think the US have a new flavour that isn’t here yet (watermelon?), so there may be interest in that.
