To buy a load of Prime drinks?

I’m currently abroad and those Prime drinks that everyone is going gaga over in the UK for, are easily available here and only £1.40 a bottle. AIBU to buy a boatload and sell them all on eBay when I get back to the UK next week? I’ve seen people selling empty bottles for £50 each on eBay!! I think it’s ridiculous that people are paying those prices but, I wouldn’t be forcing anyone to buy them, I’d just stick them into auction and people can pay whatever they’re willing to pay. A fool and their money and all that? Should I cash in whilst I can?

Of course they do but they aren’t targeting 10-14 yr olds specifically with what they know is a shit product and artificially creating a bubble to build hype.

I'd disagree with you.

Have you seen the price of Nike Airforces? The school shoe.

Shopkeeper near me got banned from TikTok

Selling cans of prime for £100 each apparently 😂

"Whats the best shop in Wakey?
Wakey Wines
Abdul come closer
Abdul go back
Bingo Bingo Gala Bingo!"

The guy is a marketing genius to be fair

*It’s different though and you know it. Businesses make things or buy them from wholesalers and sell them at similar retail prices generally, not buy them from a shop and then inflate the price even further.

Don’t be deliberately ignorant. It’s wrong.*

Please don't be rude.

I presume you don't go on Ebay much.

I got a bottle of the lemon and lime that OP. Linked to for £3 in the garage at the weekend. Was disgusting!!

I agree the craze has reached its peak and is on the way out now.

My DS10 was obsessed, and still is to some extent, but it's much easier to get hold of now. I've refused to pay more than £3 for it ever and we've still managed to get 8 or so bottles of it for that price in local shops.

That said there are shops selling it for £10+ a bottle. DS tells me that there are 'rare' bottles - i.e. the label is rare and/or they've come from the US which for some reason makes them more attractive.

Personally I find it distateful that a multi millionaire youtuber has developed this product with what seems to be the main aim of extracting money from young kids. Although I also agree that it is often the parents that are willing to pay.

I go on eBay all the time and I’m aware people exploit people religiously, it doesn’t make it right. You’re comparing legitimate businesses and putting them in the same bracket as people like OP.

You know exactly what people are saying. Just because businesses make a profit and just because other people take advantage, it doesn’t give OP a free pass.

Attitudes like that make me really lose faith in humanity even further.

Meh. It's not like OP is hiking the price of drinking water in the face of a natural disaster. If parents and kids are cash-rich and stupid enough to pay through the nose for a crappy soft drink, more fool them; no one is making them and "want" isn't "need".

According to the company's website: ‘PRIME Energy contains 200mg of caffeine, per 12 oz.
“PRIME Energy is not recommended for children under the age of 18, women who are pregnant or nursing or individuals who are sensitive to caffeine".
“This makes it stronger than RedBull and other energy drinks - and equivalent to drinking 5 cups of coffee. Please can you support us to ensure our children do not bring energy drinks into school. Thank you.”

It's not the energy drink that went on sale in the UK, it was the caffeine free one which they are marketing as a 'rehydration drink'

dementedpixie · 12/01/2023 10:13

Prime energy (with caffeine) will apparently be sold in cans and isn't available in the UK yet.

Prime hydration (without caffeine) is the drink in bottles that is sold in the UK just now

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 12/01/2023 10:28

Really sounding like an old gimmer here but why are young people going nuts for a bottled drink?

It's the hypocrisy of chastising OP that annoys me.

" of the backs of desperate children'

For a holdall of Prime.

Totally.
