To buy a load of Prime drinks?

I’m currently abroad and those Prime drinks that everyone is going gaga over in the UK for, are easily available here and only £1.40 a bottle. AIBU to buy a boatload and sell them all on eBay when I get back to the UK next week? I’ve seen people selling empty bottles for £50 each on eBay!! I think it’s ridiculous that people are paying those prices but, I wouldn’t be forcing anyone to buy them, I’d just stick them into auction and people can pay whatever they’re willing to pay. A fool and their money and all that? Should I cash in whilst I can?

How are you going to get them back ? Liquids are banned in hand luggage and there’s a weight restriction on checked luggage

Weight limit is usually 23KG, which is 46 bottles or so - at £10 a pop that’s nearly £500.

Definitely worth it!

Edinvillian · 12/01/2023 00:01

Does seem to be easier to get them now, our wee shop in a small village in the highlands of Scotland stock them. I don't get the hype, as someone else said, they're like a strong cordial drink. I bought a couple for my son but wouldn't buy any more than that at £2 a bottle.

So you’re going to take advantage of parents trying to make their kids happy then? Just because shops do it, it doesn’t mean you should jump on the bandwagon. That’s just my opinion though. £50 for an empty bottle just takes the piss from the other eBay sellers.

Take advantage of parents trying to make their kids happy 😂 Maybe the parents could learn to say no to their precious cherubs? I’ll not put a reserve on, just open it up to auction. So the parents will have a chance to win it for less than what I’ve paid for it, if no one else outbids them. Nobody is forcing anyone to place a bid 😉

I’ll put them in the luggage that goes in the hold, so liquids are permitted. I’ve only used my hand luggage for my clothes so I still have 23kg allowance I can fill 😊

What do they actually TASTE like?

Powerade, if you’ve ever tried that? Not very nice imo 😆

Think I best follow some on eBay that are in auction and ending soon. Check what they’re actually selling for, which flavours sell best, and if the hype has already died or not. Don’t want to be stuck with a load of horrible drinks because the one I’ve tasted wasn’t nice 😆

But you’re hoping they won’t say no and that’s the point isn’t it? You’re not forcing anyone to, no, but you’re missing the point. Some parents will go to lengths to see their kid smile.

I hope they smash in your bag 🤣 I can’t stand greed.

Mañanarama · 12/01/2023 01:27

People create fake eBay listings at crazy ass prices and get a friend to bid on them, to drive up demand. You also get people bidding for a laugh with no intention of paying.

That seller has zero chance of getting £950 from that buyer. Ditto anything priced stupidly high.

They’re in plastic bottles so that’s unlikely. You could say that I’m providing a service for these poor parents who will go to any length for their kids. If they can’t get them anywhere in the shops, they wouldn’t have one at all if it wasn’t for me 😇

I thought as much. No way anyone is actually paying £950 for one of these. You can get them on buy it now for £12.

Ok then. Funny what people tell themselves so they can feel better about trying to rip people off, but you do what you like 👍

Gingerkittykat · 12/01/2023 01:40

I've searched sold listings and bottles are actually selling from £3 to £7 or 3 for £16 so you will be disappointed if you are hoping to get rich by selling it for £50 a bottle!

Not expecting to get rich from a few bottles of pop 😂 But if I can make a profit I’ll be happy 😊

twoandcooplease · 12/01/2023 02:08

I have never heard of these but op what a money maker! Pp worked it out above 48 bottles, sell for £10 there's £480! You only pay £67.80.
No one in their right mind would say no to making a genuine £412
And, if things go tits up with the sales, you'll be able to make more than what you've spent even if your profit is less by selling them cheap

YANBU! Shame you don't have extra allowance

QuizzlyBears · 12/01/2023 06:13

Kids here were going nuts for them in the run up to Christmas, but in the last couple of weeks the hype has died right down and they’re more readily available and cheaper.

mickandrorty · 12/01/2023 06:46

I wouldn't bother its a lot of hassle for something that is dying down rather quickly there is a load for sale round my way and its just sitting on the shelves, i think all the kids have tried it and realised its shit, my DD says the kids at school don't drink it they're just walking round with water in the bottle to look cool 😂

sunglassesonthetable · 12/01/2023 06:51

Do your research. If they're still selling on ebay for a profit go for it.

Whinge · 12/01/2023 06:57

@Dowhahdiddy You seem to be ingoring all the posters who have said the craze is over / on the way out. Go ahead and buy the drinks, but by the time you get back and start trying to sell them you're going to struggle to get more than retail price.

snowtrees · 12/01/2023 07:01

My DC totally lost interest now.

Daydre4mer · 12/01/2023 07:03

Yes the ship has def sailed. I’ve seen them locally in shops for normal Aldi price.

Oblomov22 · 12/01/2023 07:07

The ship clearly hasn't sailed. That ksi chap was on the news yesterday. Ds2 says prime is still selling like wildfire in his school.
