I guess wealthy people are more likely to have the time to sit around reading and pursuing hobbies than people who have to spend all their time working or looking after others.
I think wealthy people tend to go skiing every year from a young age. They probably also have a favourite holiday destination that they visit every summer, maybe their own boat or a villa abroad, possibly more likely to pick up the language from being out there for a long time.

Husband and wife have separate bedrooms
Have friends over for kitchen sups

Think they mean they don't buy them as they have kitchen gardens and bake fresh goods like bread.
