I’ve noticed wealthy people don’t have brand new things. They will have antiques and really old stuff they’ve had for years or passed down from wealthy relatives.

Agreed. They put the Chippendale chair in their house from their parents instead of getting a chair from IKEA.
Much thriftier and classy.

I think wealthy people probably feel less need to constantly redecorate their homes to fit in with every passing house fashion.

Meant to quote this post!

In my experience, wealthy people’s habits include:
Horseriding & owning horses
John Lloyd membership
Buying designer handbags
Sailing.
Classic car ownership.
Flying aircraft.

Dammit. I thought for a moment there reading the OP that I was wealthy but just didn’t know it.

Then you came along and burst that bubble 😅

Thelondonone · 11/01/2023 22:48

I get free library apps on my phone and read lots of crime novels so not at all dreamy, lots of old furniture but not wealthy, just lazy and don’t like decorating. Do but fresh food though to avoid scurvy-not a total povo….

What a bizarre series of statements.

This. What on earth is OP on about? Explanation please OP!

This is culture and often class. Wealth is something different, not necessarily connected.

DividedHouses · 11/01/2023 22:53

Where's the OP? We can club together and buy her a bundle of perishable items if she only comes back and tells us what they are.....

4thtimeunlucky · 11/01/2023 22:54

Buy stuff from IKEA?

UsingChangeofName · 11/01/2023 22:55

Wait ..... wealthy people don't buy bread, fruit, vegetables ? Confused

This is confusing.

Are you coming back to explain @Saju1 ?

camelfinger · 11/01/2023 22:57

I guess wealthy people are more likely to have the time to sit around reading and pursuing hobbies than people who have to spend all their time working or looking after others.
I think wealthy people tend to go skiing every year from a young age. They probably also have a favourite holiday destination that they visit every summer, maybe their own boat or a villa abroad, possibly more likely to pick up the language from being out there for a long time.

Youdoyoubabe · 11/01/2023 23:00

Play the harp.
Husband and wife have separate bedrooms
Have friends over for kitchen sups

Think they mean they don't buy them as they have kitchen gardens and bake fresh goods like bread.

Bunce1 · 11/01/2023 23:02

Wealthy, rather than posh?

wealthy-
good cars, a banger maybe but it’s a Landy. But more likely to be a Tesla or Discovery
multiple holidays, inc one long haul. Not Mexico but maybe Barbados or Costa Rica
groomed, Botox and fillers the look with depend on geographical location and culture
private schools. Natch
expensove hobbies- tennis golf skiing. Not shooting. Not posh.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/01/2023 23:03

Eh?

MissingMoominMamma · 11/01/2023 23:08

Botox and fillers 😂

thefirstmrsrochester · 11/01/2023 23:08

if this is a serious thread then wealthy for me means long term financial security. Not holidays, horses, or books.

TheShellBeach · 11/01/2023 23:09

Wealthy women menstruate.

Bunce1 · 11/01/2023 23:10

MissingMoominMamma · 11/01/2023 23:08

Botox and fillers 😂

It’s true. What’s with the crying laughing face?

Prescottdanni123 · 11/01/2023 23:11

I read a lot and have hobbies. I'm far from wealthy.

JustWhattheDoctorOrdered · 11/01/2023 23:12

wealthy people T rex in the supermarket

seineingefrohrenerpimmel · 11/01/2023 23:14

@Saju1
What the heck are the perishable items which wealthy people apparently don't buy???

HangoverSquare · 11/01/2023 23:15

Is this going to be one of those 'nouveau riche people are brash and vulgar squawkers' and 'a lovely viscount in ancient red trousers once let his labrador shit on my foot and I was ever so grateful to him' threads?

seineingefrohrenerpimmel · 11/01/2023 23:15

Wealthy people use cast iron pans, which they then won't clean.

Whatnownextthen · 11/01/2023 23:16

😂

Mummieslncorporated · 11/01/2023 23:16

Maybe wealthy people have staff that buy perishable items on their behalf?
