I would also like to know what T rexing in the supermarket is? All I can imagine a T Rex desperately trying to reach something on the top shelf and struggling with those little arms 😆

Teaandtoast3 · 12/01/2023 04:14

wealthy people can see a dentist…

Be born into money and stability and then pretend your good fortune is down to abstinence of shop bought coffees, enjoyment of reading and driving an old car?

I’ll pay this one and add:

”All it takes to succeed is a willingness to work hard.”

I think op meant wealthy people likely to afford things that last. Don’t think they read a lot. People who read a lot tend to be a bit dreamy. People who make lots of money tend to be practical and savvy.

People who make lots of money tend to be practical and savvy.

And some element of luck is included.

ThinWomansBrain · 12/01/2023 04:22

sure, only the truly impoverished get regular deliveries from Flowers by Freddie.

KateisanAngel · 11/01/2023 22:44

Agreed. They put the Chippendale chair in their house from their parents instead of getting a chair from IKEA.
Much thriftier and classy.

Just test it before you sit on it - it’s likely to be wonky.

This is the sort of thinking that I've only experienced when very, very stoned. I like it. It's some serious nonsense.

the difference is you’ll remember it the next day.

Mummieslncorporated · 12/01/2023 05:07

Wow, there are people that don't know about t-rexing in the supermarket!

Have fun guys www.mumsnet.com/talk/mumsnet_classics/1498923-Shouting-at-me-in-the-supermarket

I know now, then I went looking for Sharon, but apparently she’s been lost in the cushions down the back of a couch. Haven’t yet looked at the dead bug on the windowsill.

Is John Lloyd related to David Lloyd? I could Google but is nice to go old school and ask.

Perhaps John Lloyd membership is only open to the posh? Or another exclusive group like those with double jointed elbows who go deep sea mackerel fishing and always call their mum on Tuesdays.

John Lloyd gyms can only be seen by wealthy people. That stands virtually as well as physically. So Google only helps if you knew about then anyway.

I think if we compile a list between us. We will end up with a comprehensive guide and be able to spot wealthy people in the wild.

If someone clever could gather together and categorise the ones we're got so far that would be marvellous.

The lesser known traits I am aware of are:

  • will be able to tell you the time if there is a grandfather clock near by.
  • does not use sellotape (or any non brand sticky tape) to wrap gifts
  • walks with toes pointing slight outwards
  • uses the words "exquisite" and "vile".
BodyShapeWoes · 12/01/2023 07:05

I’m not wealthy…

I read books

I buy food (kinda need to) and I buy other perishables 🤷‍♀️

No real hobbies but I am antisocial

Pipsquiggle · 12/01/2023 07:08

@Saju1

Your original post is bizarre. Is this a joke?

FancyFanny · 12/01/2023 07:21

Eh?

JustWhattheDoctorOrdered · 11/01/2023 23:37

@Aftersevens you must be old money. New money people by bucketloads of pomegranates

Thank goodness I'm not rich, Pomegranates are such a faff with all those little seeds!

Penguinsaregreat · 12/01/2023 08:00

My grandma baked her own bread, grew her own fruit and vegetables and was an avid reader. She was working class.

MelchiorsMistress · 12/01/2023 08:07

This is a weird thread.

I wonder if a ‘habits of poor people’ thread would make it to 6 pages 🙄

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 12/01/2023 08:20

I bought an apple once for my daughters lunch box. That same apple has travelled to and from school more times than I can count.

It's a special apple.

I also read daily and have a hobby.

I must be wealthy................(I wish)

Leah5678 · 12/01/2023 08:22

I read loads and am literally a peasant. You can get books from charity shops for 10p

ReneBumsWombats · 12/01/2023 08:36

I'm not entirely convinced the thread is genuine but I don't know why people are surprised. MN is absolutely obsessed with class and wealth. In any sort of lifestyle based question (shoes on/off in the house, Louis Vuitton handbags, how to dress etc), there are loads of posters talking about what upper middle class and wealthy people do and what is "common". Some are more blatant about it than others, but it's always a dominant theme.

Refreshmentsanyone · 12/01/2023 08:37

I know some wealthy people and their fridges are full of perishables. Although they are the only people I know that sling perishables in the bin. Poorer people tend to hang into food or use them up.

Aftersevens · 12/01/2023 08:46

WonderingWanda · 12/01/2023 07:45

Can’t you just ask cook to do it for you?

Chinnn · 12/01/2023 08:48

I think we can all agree tho that no one truly living on the poverty line has time or money for dicking around with pomegranates.

Treetrim · 12/01/2023 08:50

seineingefrohrenerpimmel · 11/01/2023 23:15

Wealthy people use cast iron pans, which they then won't clean.

Well that’s me but I’m lazy not wealthy
