Not spending on perishable items..

Reads a lot..

Has a hobby...

What are others?

OP posts:
myfaceismyown · 13/01/2023 18:04

All wealthy people have plastic pineapples.
Never perish.
No,
Not in a million years....

AnnieSnap · 13/01/2023 18:13

Sorry no. Can’t imagine why you think this OP!

plumpynoo · 13/01/2023 18:39

I do all of those and am struggling for money most months!

DriftingDora · 13/01/2023 18:40

Are the primary schools on holiday?
🙄

Allthegirlseverseen · 13/01/2023 18:44

I’m confused by the John Lloyd mentions. Do people mean David Lloyd or am I just such a pleb I’ve never heard of John Lloyd?

Coffeepot72 · 13/01/2023 18:51

@Allthegirlseverseen i thought the reference to John Lloyd was someone getting confused about John Lewis!

CheshireCat1 · 13/01/2023 19:21

I don’t rummage through wealthy people’s cupboards or nosey through their letterboxes or windows, so I haven’t a clue what they do or what they buy.

Tygger · 13/01/2023 19:28

You must have been very bored to post such an inane question 🤔

logicisall · 13/01/2023 19:36

Wealthy people:
Read the FT; golf at Queenwood/Carnegie; heli-ski; keep their "fishing boat" in the Caribbean; have watches that only those in the know can recognise; buy tailor-made suits; have personal accountants, wealth managers and domestic staff; frequent Michelin star restaurants where the females push around a pea.

But also:
Wealthy people read the tabloids, slob around in old clothes, drive old bangers, eat big macs/kfc fast foods and do their own housework
Take your pick, OP.

Dibbydoos · 13/01/2023 19:36

Do you mean we'll read? If so that's not about wealth but intelligent, curiosity or self growth. None of these are limited to the rich!

Travels is also not limited to the rich, where you go or how you travel might be - private yacht, first class air fare etc...

I think you are completely unreasonable, OP esp as wealth is relative, the wealthiest people are not rich ref money but contentedness!

MissWings · 13/01/2023 19:37

Very rich people do what very common people do it’s just double standards. Dress like a tramp with loads of money? Ahh old money…. Dress like a tramp cos you’re poor?…. Ahh you’re a real tramp then.

MiniBeesMum · 13/01/2023 19:38

My family is far from wealthy but we are comfortable. We do the following:

  • all of us have hobbies which include horse riding, guitar, sewing and racquet sports
  • I read a fair amount but more into audio books these days
  • definitely buy perishable good... gotta eat! Can't work out why wealthy people wouldn't?
  • do some form of cultural event most months like go to the theatre.

We don't have £1,000s in the bank but do work hard to do the things we enjoy! I find this question confusing!

AlbertaAnnie · 13/01/2023 19:47

I think you meant to say

enjoys fox hunting

Gwafs instead of laughing

adore the royal family

Aftersevens · 13/01/2023 19:48

It's just part of the maintenance regime, along with fruit and veg and Pilates.

Sorry, that can’t be right, fruit and veg are perishable.

Phos · 13/01/2023 19:49

Having an instagram consisting entirely of videos of you swanning around in designer clothes, then telling people how they can copy your look on the high street whilst bragging about your new pair of Jimmy Choos and thinking it's a job.

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 13/01/2023 19:49

IntentionalError · 11/01/2023 22:16

In my experience, wealthy people’s habits include:
Horseriding & owning horses
John Lloyd membership
Buying designer handbags
Sailing.
Classic car ownership.
Flying aircraft.

Horses and classic cars are reasons many people have no money 😂

20thcenturygirlwithherhandsonthewheel · 11/01/2023 22:16

They shite out their arseholes

This!!

Fingeronthebutton · 13/01/2023 19:57

Very bored or very pissed 😄

Bleachmycloths · 13/01/2023 20:02

Like others, I don’t find OPs list particularly representative of the wealthy. Plus, being ‘wealthy’ is relative. I envy people who:
Eat out a lot
Have 3 or 4 holidays a year plus weekends/nights away
Food Shop at Waitrose and M&S without considering the cost
Have house repairs, decorating, new carpets and furniture when needed
Have a cleaner.
Have a gardener
These would be BLISS for me!! 😊

saleorbouy · 13/01/2023 20:10

Books are free to loan from the library so reading is hardly limited to wealthy individuals. OP you observations of wealth are quite strange. Of the people I know who are wealthy they are the least likely to flaunt it and have no draw to so called "designer merchandise" or other materialistic status symbols.
By your reckoning if I bought a perishable pint of milk and read a copy of the Sun I'd be wealthy, well that's fabulous to know.

MorganKitten · 13/01/2023 20:10

I do all of those and I barely make it to pay day

Darlingx · 13/01/2023 20:24

I remember Stella McCartney asking me for a discount then she got her Coutts cheque book out 😂that kind of naivety I don’t expect she had to worry about paying rent

StaunchMomma · 13/01/2023 20:29

I am so confused.

You seem to think, from your retort to @Comedycook, that quality fabrics are perishables?!

And wtf with the reading?!!

Books are cheap as feck?!!

Namechangethisonetime · 13/01/2023 20:31

Hummus is most definitely perishable

You are sadly misinformed

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 13/01/2023 20:31

IMHE rich folk never spend money if they can avoid it, especially on unnecessary things. They may well inherit furniture which was possibly antique and in very good condition. They make do and mend as if they didn't have any money, rather than splashing it about. Expensive good quality clothes are mended and handed down - much like the Royal Family. They keep an old classic car going.
