That Andrew Tate wasn’t found because of a pizza box?

I’ll start by saying that he deserves to rot in jail and the Twitter exchange was quite brilliant.

However, it really bothers me how this is being reported. So many articles of how it’s all to Greta and a pizza box.

It’s reducing the Romanian police force to bumbling idiots, watching SM in the hope of a clue ,any clue. I’m not saying the tweet didn’t possibly contribute, but the papers put it all down to it. So ,no surveillance, no investigations, no tracking or phones or credit cards , no work or intelligence used or required? Just sitting around and praying that a tweet with a location falls in their laps?

YABU: The tweet was essential, and they couldn’t have done it without it.

YANBU: The arrest was due to months of work and investigations, the tweet had minimal(if at any contribution) and it’s all being spun in a suitable feel good/karma narrative.

Well it was they themselves that admitted it was the pizza box in their statement?

georgarina · 30/12/2022 16:37

Not sure what you mean. Another high profile criminal was caught when a picture on social media showed a license plate in the background. Not at all farfetched or making the police out to be idiots.

Swearwolf · 30/12/2022 16:37

I thought it was more that they needed proof he was in the country before they were allowed to make a move, which the pizza box gave.

RobbinBanksy · 30/12/2022 16:37

why does it matter

This. It's not like they didn't know which house was his before the video but there would have been no point making a move if he wasn't there as it would have tipped him off and, assuming he wasn't in the country, presumably meant that he would have been very unlikely to return. Instead, they waited for proof he was at home before raiding his house. Seems very sensible to me.

WatchoRulo · 30/12/2022 16:42

Unfortunately, inspector Morse, I can't go along with either premise, since I am not part of the Romanian Police investigation. Are you?

Stressedmum2017 · 30/12/2022 16:34

They didn't. They investigated for months, gathered evidence confirming the victims statements and they waited until both brothers were together. They simply said that they had confirmation of this from their investigations ,including from social media and that's when they acted. They also arrested two other people and searched other properties on the same night.

I think most people understand it wasn’t just down to that, but it’s funny as fuck and should be allowed to be enjoyed. Everyone takes everything so seriously nowadays. The main thing is they’ve got him. 🥳

This

but i also agree with afterfire

Tbh anything that makes that sentient peanut look stupid to his legions of followers and persuades even 1 to rethink their idea of him is ok with me.

JustAnotherManicNameChange · 30/12/2022 16:49

RobbinBanksy · 30/12/2022 16:37

why does it matter

Because the spin bothers me.
Because people believe it.
Because it reduces and minimises months of work and evidence gathering of which there's barely any mention.
Because already one poster said the police said it was the pizza box when no such statement was made.
Because it's all about Greta and how amazing she is and how SHE got him.

Starlitexpress · 30/12/2022 16:52

Well, I am sure the police had gathered their evidence but just didn't need to do any surveillance as the idiot posted his whereabouts on social media.

Not sure where he will go from here seeing as his new nickname seems to be "tinydick" and even if it has become mythical, the world thinks he was brought down by a 19 year old girl he was trying to troll.

He fully deserves what he got and I hope he rots in jail. In the grand scheme of things, a criminal was apprehended and hopefully will face justice (in the US too not just Romania) , and maybe it doesn't really matter how we got here like other posters are saying.

It still bothers me how it's being played in the media.

was he ever missing? whereabouts unknown?

Bluekerfuffle · 30/12/2022 17:00

They probably weren’t that bothered about finding him, quite possibly knew where he was, but had to act after he became the talk of the town again thanks to Greta.

YetiTeri · 30/12/2022 17:03

That's a very odd take OP. GT was just minding her own business and Tate brought her into his seedy world and the filth that he brings descended on her.

So no it's not about her, it's about young women not being intimidated by men like him.

Plus #PizzaTate is worth it.

Wow. They had evidence of human trafficking but couldn’t be bothered to do anything about it until Greta got involved? I know the Romanian police don’t have the best reputation but that’s a stretch!

Exactly. The brilliance is in the irony that a sexist arsehole has been brought down by a woman. A strong, witty and intelligent woman who has made him look like the fool he is.

GrasstrackGirl · 30/12/2022 17:09

They knew he was in Romania as Tiny Tate wasn't keeping it a secret, I think it was pure coincidence that he was arrested after getting clowned by Greta.

Ah that's ok then. They're not incompetent just corrupt. Or maybe they couldn't be bothered like I saw on another thread.

It was the pizza box that made them take action. 🙄

RobbinBanksy · 30/12/2022 17:15

But does it affect you at all? Are you part of the police team who found him? Why do you care whether or not this snippet is accurate, what’s it to you?

GlendaSugarbeanIsJudgingYou · 30/12/2022 17:17

Do you dislike Greta?

JustAnotherManicNameChange · 30/12/2022 17:18

Exactly. The brilliance is in the irony that a sexist arsehole has been brought down by a woman. A strong, witty and intelligent woman who has made him look like the fool he is.

This is exactly what I mean. How did SHE bring him down? If you mean the twitter exchange,by all means I agree. I thought that was great.

If you mean because you believe he got arrested because of it, and it's all because of Greta and the pizza box, then the media spin did his job. Never mind the victims, their calls for help, their testimonies, and the men and women that worked to make it all happen.

If you really need a woman that brought him down, then that was the victim that asked for help and got the authorities involved with the whole thing that ended in his arrest. Funny how no one is saying how amazing she is.

I was referring to the Twitter feed really. I think that’s what most people are talking about. I meant taken down verbally. Not the whole operation. I do realise - as do most people - there’s a whole lot more to this than Greta tweeting away. Or whoever controls her account.

Thedaysthatremain · 30/12/2022 17:23

This is such a non issue and it's really clear you only care because of how much you hate Greta
