That Andrew Tate wasn’t found because of a pizza box?

I’ll start by saying that he deserves to rot in jail and the Twitter exchange was quite brilliant.

However, it really bothers me how this is being reported. So many articles of how it’s all to Greta and a pizza box.

It’s reducing the Romanian police force to bumbling idiots, watching SM in the hope of a clue ,any clue. I’m not saying the tweet didn’t possibly contribute, but the papers put it all down to it. So ,no surveillance, no investigations, no tracking or phones or credit cards , no work or intelligence used or required? Just sitting around and praying that a tweet with a location falls in their laps?

YABU: The tweet was essential, and they couldn’t have done it without it.

YANBU: The arrest was due to months of work and investigations, the tweet had minimal(if at any contribution) and it’s all being spun in a suitable feel good/karma narrative.

It's the first video on the page. You can see a policeman standing to the side with a battering ram. If they just wanted to question him they would have sent 2 officers, not an entire swat team (or whatever the Romanian equivalent is).

It was a 24 hour arrest. I think tonight they all were in front of a judge to be decided if they'll be in preventive arrest for 30 days or released.

I think most people understand it wasn’t just down to that, but it’s funny as fuck and should be allowed to be enjoyed. Everyone takes everything so seriously nowadays. The main thing is they’ve got him. 🥳

I agree.

He’s someone who thinks he’s untouchable and I think it’s so funny.

PurpleParrotfish · 30/12/2022 19:30

“Whilst he wasn’t brought down by GT, it’s actually a great story to enrage all his fans.”

So this is what bothers me. Whether the pizza box was actually relevant (and I think not from the article below) is totally trivial on the face of it. But the whole culture of ‘it doesn’t matter if it’s true if it’s a good story’ is what brought us Brexit, Johnson, Trump and equivalents around the world. So at the risk of being a spoilsport I think that those of us who see ourselves as the good guys should actually care about fact checking.

The Romanian police (well the DIICOT division) denied the pizza box had anything to do with the arrest, so I really wonder where the posters claiming that the police said it WAS the pizza box got their information from. They posted that with such conviction too.

Does everyone believe all these dramatics are real? It’s a reality tv show for the bumbling, brain dead public, glued to social media.

JustAnotherManicNameChange · 30/12/2022 20:10

They're being held for 30 days now , which hopefully means justice will be served, which despite how it my look given my posts, is the main thing.

I want that to be true because then no one will have been trafficked and raped.

sadly, I don't think it is a show.

Oh dear, tiny Tate held in a Romanian prison for 30 days alongside actual gangsters and hard men. Possibly even friends, family or countrymen of the girls he trafficked. Diddums.

Againstmachine · 30/12/2022 20:22

The Yorkshire ripper wasn't caught because he was the Yorkshire ripper he was caught due to him being about he was caught due to a traffic stop on red light district.

Stop dumbing it down they had intelligence he was there and acted on it.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 30/12/2022 20:24

Pretty sure it would hurt his ego more to have people laughing at him forever more for being caught due to picking a fight with a teenage girl than due to a bunch of middleaged male police officers.

I'm happy to go with the version that gets maximum ego damage for the rest of his life.

itsgettingweird · 30/12/2022 20:27

I don't think anyone actually thinks a photo of him and pizza made the Romanian police think

"Oh he must be a people trafficker - let's go and arrest him on the off chance"

As with any investigation you have that one vital piece of evidence. In this case the pizza box may have been that.

MeinKraft · 30/12/2022 20:32

I mean I think everyone realises months of police work has gone into this operation but it is a very funny narrative.

He looks exactly like Tom Allen in that video he posted with the pizza boxes!

He was caught because one of his victims managed to message someone for help and the US embassy got involved which first started the investigation into this . While he was released then, the investigation continued and more evidence was found, including testimonies from other victims.

There definitely is a woman behind his arrest and that brought him down.

But I suppose that story isn't important, funny or ironic enough either. Or as hurtful to his ego(is that really a consideration?).

No one thinks Greta single handedly surveyed them, collected evidence and swooped in to orchestrate the arrest…. Literally no one thinks that.

What people do think is that he brought a lot of attention to himself in the hours leading up to the arrest and “revealed” his location, which previously it seems he’s been very careful to conceal or be coy about at the least.

The police may have already had that arrest lined up to go and they may have had surveillance on him either way. But monitoring social media is a totally legitimate way of locating someone. Like totally legitimate.

Other than physically following someone or tracking their iPhone it’s literally the only other way to locate someone or track their steps.

I don’t think it makes them out to be bumbling idiots, if anything it makes them pretty astute and using his own medium against him.

either way, yay!

NextPrimeMinister · 30/12/2022 20:44

For all we know, the Romanian police were going to arrest him that day anyway, and the pizza box just makes a bloody good story, and the spat with Greta just a timing thing.

But who cares, the story is always going to be that a 19 year old girl and a pizza box brought his downfall. The 'tiny dick' element is just the cherry on top.

BethDuttonsTwin · 30/12/2022 20:48

Can't stand the bloke. But anyone who thinks this is going to stick and he will Get What's Coming To Him, is a simpleton.

debbrianna · 30/12/2022 20:55

Why is the OP's take on this bothering me? I can't quite put the finger on it

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 30/12/2022 21:15

Who cares? The police followed a clue and have caught a nasty criminal. They got Al Capone on taxes don't forget.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 30/12/2022 21:17

Oh and where I work we sometimes catch benefit cheats by their SoMe activities.

Probably because they seem to be more upset that Greta was involved in his takedown, they would rather take issue with that rather than be as amused as the rest of us are that he's in jail. Imagine being so bothered about it involving Greta. Apparently a jailed sex trafficker is less important.

Is the evidence threshold for 30 days quite strong? Or Is it based on "danger to the public" or "flight risk" etc? Just thought you might know.

EmmaAgain22 · 30/12/2022 21:32

I bet he'll go on hunger strike or some such.

JennyForeigner · 30/12/2022 21:32

It's funny though isn't it?

It doesn't take anything away from the investigation that steroid twatface had to have his little dig at Greta T, and post the pic that told them this was the moment.

There's no real link, but anything that reinforces that the man is a monumental donkey responsible for everything bad that will now happen to him is ok by me.

But whatever happens makes the world a little bit better.

I work in schools. Teenage boys are OBSESSED with Tate. They pick him as the person they want to be. I'm fed up of having to explain what misogyny is and how it dehumanises half of the actual human people sitting around them and who they consider friends, let alone the other four billion.

The creepier little fanboys have learned from his toxic hustler bollocks and are trained to say all they want when they bring him up over and over again is a 'debate.' What they want is to derail the school day and be told it's ok to dream about sexually dominating and abusing women.

Well now there's no debate. The stone has been turned over, and wherever it goes, we all have more information about what Mr Tate is and what he does.
