That Andrew Tate wasn’t found because of a pizza box?

I’ll start by saying that he deserves to rot in jail and the Twitter exchange was quite brilliant.

However, it really bothers me how this is being reported. So many articles of how it’s all to Greta and a pizza box.

It’s reducing the Romanian police force to bumbling idiots, watching SM in the hope of a clue ,any clue. I’m not saying the tweet didn’t possibly contribute, but the papers put it all down to it. So ,no surveillance, no investigations, no tracking or phones or credit cards , no work or intelligence used or required? Just sitting around and praying that a tweet with a location falls in their laps?

YABU: The tweet was essential, and they couldn’t have done it without it.

YANBU: The arrest was due to months of work and investigations, the tweet had minimal(if at any contribution) and it’s all being spun in a suitable feel good/karma narrative.

Exactly. The brilliance is in the irony that a sexist arsehole has been brought down by a woman. A strong, witty and intelligent woman who has made him look like the fool he is.

This is exactly what I mean. How did SHE bring him down? If you mean the twitter exchange,by all means I agree. I thought that was great.

If you mean because you believe he got arrested because of it, and it's all because of Greta and the pizza box, then the media spin did his job. Never mind the victims, their calls for help, their testimonies, and the men and women that worked to make it all happen.

If you really need a woman that brought him down, then that was the victim that asked for help and got the authorities involved with the whole thing that ended in his arrest. Funny how no one is saying how amazing she is.

Absolutely - your last paragraph nails it.

Squarerootofpi · 30/12/2022 18:23

I watched the video of the Romanian police raiding his home, since when do police knock and then wait to be let in? Surely the point of a raid is to get in as quickly as possible before evidence can be destroyed or the perpetrator can flee.

It’s a corny story and people are silly to believe it. He’s been under investigation for a while, no?

It’s been known he at least had some cam girl set-up in Romania, no doubt there was more to it than that as well.

Squarerootofpi · 30/12/2022 18:31

Also, his house looks EXACTLY as you would expect it to look. Sex panther chic 🤮

Is it real though, there's a clip from previous investigation doing the rounds.

also, if they just wanted to question him, why not knock on the door. Smashing it is a risk to them too.

WomanhoodIsABirthright · 30/12/2022 18:33

I'd wonder what other news this is all detracting from.

toocold54 · 30/12/2022 18:38

I think it’s hilarious that most people think he got arrested over a pizza box because he was trying to get one over on a teenage girl.

He is a narcissist and likes to think he’s very clever - being caught out by a pizza box and being mocked for it by a teenage girl and half the works is probably his worst nightmare!

Of course the police would have been tracking his movements and the victim’s statements etc but many agencies like the police use SM to track people or find clues.

I think the more people that talk about the pizza box or Greta the better as he’ll be hating it, which I find hilarious.

I think most people understand it wasn’t just down to that, but it’s funny as fuck and should be allowed to be enjoyed. Everyone takes everything so seriously nowadays. The main thing is they’ve got him. 🥳

Exactly this 👏🏻

EmmaAgain22 · 30/12/2022 18:45

Toocold "I think it’s hilarious that most people think he got arrested over a pizza box because he was trying to get one over on a teenage girl."

wait, now I'm confused. Am I being thick?

Itsthewhitehat · 30/12/2022 18:46

It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

AT stated in a video that he moved to Romania because the authorities were easier to pay off to turn a blind eye to him.

It could be that the Police took exception to that and done a through and lengthy investigation, that will result in a conviction followed by deportation.

Or that they have largely ignored him (and as per AT been paid to look the other way) claiming he may not even be in their country. But at that point couldn’t ignore it as there was proof he was. If that’s the case, he won’t be convicted of anything.

Whilst he wasn’t brought down by GT, it’s actually a great story to enrage all his fans. It’s also (possibly) going to play part in him losing a lot of following. Especially when it comes out he isn’t as rich as he claims. Part of his business is teaching men, according to him, the secrets to being mega rich.

The story about how a 19 year old woman brought him down, is far more managing to his reputation. While he needs to face the justice system, I also want to see as many of his fans wake up as possible.

TrimTheTree · 30/12/2022 18:46

Swearwolf · 30/12/2022 16:37

I thought it was more that they needed proof he was in the country before they were allowed to make a move, which the pizza box gave.

This. The tweet with the pizza box of the local company showed he was in the country/house so they could move

EmmaAgain22 · 30/12/2022 18:55

Itsthewhitehat "While he needs to face the justice system, I also want to see as many of his fans wake up as possible."

they'll say he's innocent.

I do think the money is a factor though - I don't think he's got that amount.

Villagetoraiseachild · 30/12/2022 18:57

It was appealing because it was poetic justice.
I hope someone creates a Pizza a la Greta so the story can live on.
Am guessing she's possibly vegan?
A very cool vegan pizza in that case.

Readabookgroucho · 30/12/2022 19:01

The Romanian authorities were dragging their feet - can’t think why, I’m sure lots of cash in envelopes had nothing to do with it - the US authorities wanted to extradite the little shit, but the need proof that he was in the area/compound.
so twat face putting up his video confirmed location…

feellikeanalien · 30/12/2022 19:02

I think his hardcore fans will just see this as confirmation that the "Matrix" is out to get him and will view the fact that Greta was involved as confirmation of that.

However, whatever shit Tate comes out with he will know deep down that those who can see what he is will know that he tried to be a cocky bastard and was brought down by his own arrogance. That makes me smile.

Whether he is convicted of anything remains to be seen.

Readabookgroucho · 30/12/2022 19:04

It’s not like Greta set out to get him. He baited her for absolutely no reason other than for attention and because he’s a shit head. She replied.
He then did his shitshow of a reply which gave away his location.
Inhole he does get sent to the US - the sentences there will mean he never sees the light of day if he’s convicted. I’m not sure he’s posturing will serve him well in a federal prison.

SwedishEdith · 30/12/2022 19:05

There is something wholesome about the story though - good v bad. And people like Julia Hartley-Brewer having to get involved on Twitter and pick the wrong side, as usual.

It's also very handy that he's listed all of his assets. Whoever runs Greta T's Twitter account is pretty sharp though.

anyolddinosaur · 30/12/2022 19:09

I had no idea who he was or about a twitter spat until the memes popped up. The idea that the police probably had to act, before he realised he'd given away his location and moved on. seems most likely to me. It's possibly before they really wanted to act if they were trying to catch others as well.

Not sure how many people will really believe it was all down to a pizza box, think most people are just enjoying making fun of the guy by pretending its true.

StaunchMomma · 30/12/2022 19:09

Wasn't it the Police who said they saw the box on SM and went there to get his address, though?

Why the need to be so overly protective of Romanian Police services?!

cardibach · 30/12/2022 19:10

I voted YANBU as obviously there is a huge and complex police investigation beh8nd this, brave women coming forward and actual victims etc.
however 8 have exactly zero fucks to give if this is the hook the story hangs on. It’s brilliant if his followers believe that his own arrogance (and a young woman) brought him down.

Well, it's because people would pick a hill like this to die on because they can't stand a girl. The irony is monumental.

No. They didn't say that and they already knew the address and the addresses of the other people that were arrested and the properties that were searched.

You're stating a fact that doesn't exist, either because you've actually read it somewhere (bad) or because that's what was insinuated/what you understood from it(even worse). It kinda proves my point.

My issue always was with the way this was reported and spun , not Greta or her tweets(which I liked).

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-64122628

It's the first video on the page. You can see a policeman standing to the side with a battering ram. If they just wanted to question him they would have sent 2 officers, not an entire swat team (or whatever the Romanian equivalent is).
