I’ll start by saying that he deserves to rot in jail and the Twitter exchange was quite brilliant.

However, it really bothers me how this is being reported. So many articles of how it’s all to Greta and a pizza box.

It’s reducing the Romanian police force to bumbling idiots, watching SM in the hope of a clue ,any clue. I’m not saying the tweet didn’t possibly contribute, but the papers put it all down to it. So ,no surveillance, no investigations, no tracking or phones or credit cards , no work or intelligence used or required? Just sitting around and praying that a tweet with a location falls in their laps?

YABU: The tweet was essential, and they couldn’t have done it without it.

YANBU: The arrest was due to months of work and investigations, the tweet had minimal(if at any contribution) and it’s all being spun in a suitable feel good/karma narrative.

I understand your point Op, about the media spin and how the media are focusing more on the Twitter stuff rather than the true victims of Tiny Tates crimes.

99% of the time, I'd agree with you. But this time, and only this time, im pleased the media are not reporting on the women who were trafficked and raped.
Hear me out.....

Over and over again, we've seen what happens to women who come forward. Everytime, "trial by social media" happens and it is the women who are ripped apart. Their accounts are questioned and some people start researching the women's backgrounds looking for reasons to call these women liars or somehow it was thier "fault" they were trafficked and raped.

Time and time again, we have seen the victims, rather than the perpetrator, destroyed.

So, I for one am pleased that for the moment, the media spin is focusing on how Tate created his own downfall.

I'm pleased the women are being left alone. They have enough to be dealing with. They dont need the burden of defending themselves via the media.

This is how I see it.

Not that GT brought him down.

But he brought himself down by his tweets to her and the fact the content of those tweets were so awful from him and witty from her and gave his location away himself (and yes the police knew where he was but he showed the public) is why I don't mind the media spin.

Anyone with half an ounce of intelligence knows GT didn't single handedly bring him down. Or give intelligence to the police or even be aware of his crimes.

She did however manage to make him become too cocky for his own good which made his subsequent arrest all the more sweeter.

My actual only concern in the whole story is the woman involved as victims get their justice.

The point is that it is about the humiliation of Tate, that his unprovoked attack on a young woman, which he did basically to get attention having just been let back on twitter back fired when she didn't argue back just owned him, he then retaliated with his video, because he needed to regain his superiority over her, and let's be clear he doesn't care, he picked on a high profile woman and it could have been anyone so he could get more followers he could scam.
The added irony that he was hoisted by his own petard if the pizza boxes let the police know he was in the country.
If you think everyone thinks he was arrested because of some pizza boxes and we don't understand the police have been investigating for months then it is you who is the one missing something... because no one gets arrested for just being in a country and having some pizza boxes they are being arrested due to the investigation they have been carrying out...
We are celebrating the delicious coincidence that this happened now and piling on the humiliation because trust me his whole poke at Greta was about trying to humiliate and eventually endanger her by setting his followers on her and then he would move on the the next, like he does the women in his life.
The other irony his he claims there is no such thing as an independent woman because they are always dependant on men. Missing that he make his money off the exploitation of women to financially exploit men. He is a leach and baby.

As with any investigation you have that one vital piece of evidence. In this case the pizza box may have been that.

The report says they’ve been interested in him for months and it’s very common for the police to track the persons SM suspect.

Some people (like in this case) can’t help but post on SM and get carried away so accidentally let slip about where they are.

Most things are done via the internet now.
And so it makes sense that they’ll be watching his SM very closely.

There have been plenty of times where the police have asked for help to track down child grooming gangs.
You look at the images which have been taken from the background of the rapes and tell them if you recognise any of the items.
I remember one where there was a bottle with a particular brand on, a t-shirt and supermarket carrier bag etc so if any are from a particular country it can help the police narrow down what country the videos are taken.

Hip he is shitting himself and that he rots in jail! He will feel so humiliated and hope he does not buy his way out of this one.

That's an alternative point of view that I can completely understand and get behind.

Id guess they had other methods that they used, but needed either a public ah that's how we found x, or a cover to hide the methods they actually used, bit like the cracking of the enigma code machine, rather than just using the intelligence directly, they needed another way to explain how they knew the location of the enemies subs, ships etc

That's not what I said.

The way the media spun this, means that a lot of people do believe and keep saying that the pizza box was essential. That that's how the police found him and were able to arrest him. In fact they believe it so much they came up with made up facts and statements , and all kinds of theories about the police being corrupt, not caring, having their hand forced by the tweet.

While it is of course possible, all these comments are complete fabrications, with no proof or any base in truth (as far as we know for now).

Spin is spin. This one is about an abhorrent guy, with abhorrent views and crimes so it's all fun and games and funny. But we all know that spin doesn't get used just for "baddies" and we definitely have no say when it's applied.

Seemed funny that:

• A bloke most of hadn't heard of is suddenly the subject of loads of newspaper articles - with them telling us to ignore him (I had been!)
• He is then arrested all of a sudden
• With a load of credit being given to the head cheerleader for net zero

Just feels a bit off - like this was all orchestrated pre-arrest to put some kind of messaging out to the public. I don't know

This is a really dangerous way of thinking - he is very very well known amongst tweens and teens.

The rest of the "theory" still stands. That's all it is. I'm not "dangerous" or committing "wrongthink" or whatever you're trying to suggest.

Why was all the media suddenly giving a load of publicity to someone:

• They don't usually - unlike many other SM people
• Who they are telling us about and simultaneously telling us to ignore the stuff he says
• Just a coincidence he happens to be arrested just after their publicity campaign for him

This is a ridiculous 'me, me, me' take.

You don't need to watch his stuff. No-one does. But kids from 10+ know him, and he is idolised by a scarily high number of young boys/men. Pretending he doesn't exist is totally ignoring the tsunami he, and many others like him, are inflicting on young people not always capable of critical thinking.

He doesn't need the newspapers or Mumsnet to give him publicity. He already had in spades on TikTok and YouTube. You being ignorant of him has not stopped him.

The media didn't give him loads of publicity. He is well known on SM. He was a dick to a teenager who is also very well known on SM. She took him down with one line. He came back making an even bigger tit of himself and it went viral, as these things do.🤷‍♀️

Later that day he was arrested and carted off to Romanian jail and the world pissed themselves laughing.😂😂😂
