I’ll start by saying that he deserves to rot in jail and the Twitter exchange was quite brilliant.

However, it really bothers me how this is being reported. So many articles of how it’s all to Greta and a pizza box.

It’s reducing the Romanian police force to bumbling idiots, watching SM in the hope of a clue ,any clue. I’m not saying the tweet didn’t possibly contribute, but the papers put it all down to it. So ,no surveillance, no investigations, no tracking or phones or credit cards , no work or intelligence used or required? Just sitting around and praying that a tweet with a location falls in their laps?

YABU: The tweet was essential, and they couldn’t have done it without it.

YANBU: The arrest was due to months of work and investigations, the tweet had minimal(if at any contribution) and it’s all being spun in a suitable feel good/karma narrative.

The only link with Greta is that the media/SM are making it all about her /the pizza box and not the work involved by the actual police or the victims. Not just the ones rescued, but the victim that actually started all this and who is the woman that did bring him down him down.

But the victims cannot be referenced really - it's not proven and they must be protected at all costs. Can you imagine if info about the victims got out?

And no one can comment on an ongoing investigation.

He made that film. Whether it did or didn't impact the investigation it did confirm his whereabouts to within a few hour period. Which he did. Nothing to do with GT, she just made two very good jokes. She is not responsible for him.

@EmmaAgain22 it tends to be in two situations

1. When there's reasonable suspicion that some committed a crime and also proof that they are a flight risk, that they might intimidate the victim or witnesses, try to bribe other involved etc.

1. When the crime they are accused of (with enough evidence of reasonable suspicion) is murder,terrorism/threat to national security money laundering, arms trafficking , drug trafficking, people /sex trafficking,rape and so on.

Tate is being investigated for sex trafficking and rape so it's a double whammy on the second one. I'd say they had some evidence on the first too , especially the flight risk part.

If you’re remanding in arrest for 30 days in Ro is definitely not because of a pizza box is because they have quite a bit of evidence of wrongdoing, that is the maximum you can stay in arrest in Ro for which in theory means you’re in big shit

My annoyance is at the media /SM spin. That's it. Nothing more,nothing less . Some people deduced from that that I must hate Greta when I've barely expressed any views about her (except to applaud her tweets) , much less such strong ones like hate.Which is about as factual as the claims that the Romanian police said it WAS the pizza box that helped them arrest him.

To be fair I doubt it would happen in a typical she said,he said no evidence ,no witnesses rape situation, but yeah if the evidence is convincing enough that there's a reasonable belief the accused committed the crime then that law is/can be applied, normally at the request of the prosecutor.

So many criminal actions are proved with SM as foolishness happens to people committing crimes.

They knew his address! As they knew the address of the other people involved , and other properties that were searched. What they wanted was to have both of them (and presumably the others) together at their known locations so they could get them all in one go and less chance of fleeing,hiding /destroying evidence etc.

They are appealing the 30 day arrest. I hope it sticks. Romanian prison definitely won't be fun and games.

There are videos of him verbally and physically abusing those girls (you can see them on Twitter but I wouldn’t recommend it, it’s hard to watch), they shouldn’t not be forgotten for sure.

At least one of those girls was brave enough to come forward to provide evidence and testimony

Who knows. Maybe it's lazy policing. If it was in the uk I'd say load of chip would be done to trace him. Outside of the UK legislation is different.

This story (whatever the truth of it) amplifies his case massively, which in turn will increase the interest in the substance of his alleged crimes as this progresses.
