Sage green dress drama - Bride

lgcoopers · 19/12/2022 19:47

Bride wants me to send a picture over of what I've chosen

I must wear a dress that's sage green. So must DD and DS (wear sage green). DD has to wear a dress but is exempt (bride's words) from wearing ballet slippers because she isn't walking yet

The men must wear any suit colour but black, with a sage green tie.

AIBU to tell her I can't find anything in my size really that's sage green? Blush

She wants me to send pictures of what I've chosen for the kids before they turn up on the day

Are you in the bridal party?

Neverplayleapfrogwithmrpipes · 19/12/2022 19:49

Are you part of the wedding party?

lgcoopers · 19/12/2022 19:49

what size and type of style are you looking for? Mnetters can always help

DisforDarkChocolate · 19/12/2022 19:50

Ask her to send you some links of suitable outfits in your budget.

If you're not in the wedding party ignore her completely.

MichelleScarn · 19/12/2022 19:50

Why is she thinking she can dictate what you wear?!

Aprilx · 19/12/2022 19:50

I was thinking one of those weddings were the guests are asked to dress in a particular colour or style. Sage green seems quite limiting.

UrsulaPandress · 19/12/2022 19:50

Sage green is so easy to misinterpret

I feel like it's a bit cheeky fucker to ask the bride for links? Surely as a guest I should put that effort in myself? Blush

Also, green is my favourite colour but some years you don't see any, I've not noticed any sage green recently.

DisforDarkChocolate · 19/12/2022 19:51

It's cheeky of the bride to dictate what you wear as a guest when you're not in the bridal party!

lgcoopers · 19/12/2022 19:51

Bloody hell that's gorgeous! However I'm now a size 14/16, and I was a size 10 a year ago.

Far too self conscious to wear than

Why is she dictating if you’re not a bridesmaid?

Vgbeat · 19/12/2022 19:52

Eh not sure why your the cheeky one. Unless she's buying what you wear as a guest is your business.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 19/12/2022 19:52

I would send photos of pjs and tell her that is what you plan on wearing on the day as you won't be attending the wedding!

I guess the question is, are you looking for help finding a suitable outfit in sage green or looking for help on how to tell her to cop herself on.

Hankunamatata · 19/12/2022 19:52

Oops sold out in that size

As an adult, you should be allowed to choose how to dress. But the bride is clearly the CF here so pass the ball back to her. Bossy boots that she is.

ABigSalad123 · 19/12/2022 19:53

Eeeek bridezilla alert :( are you all members of the bridal party? If you’re not, I don’t think you should worry at all and just wear whatever you feel comfortable with without getting the bride’s approval first.

If you’re all in the bridal party, I kind of understand the bride’s focus on making sure everything is all perfect, but I agree she’s being very heavy-handed about it!

Is sage green quite dark green? Can you find anything that’s similar to that shade of green that you can wear? Or alternatively, can you ask her if she has any suggestions for what you should wear? E.g. has she found any dresses/ties etc in that shade that she can send you details of to buy?

MissBattleaxe · 19/12/2022 19:53

What a bridezilla! How to breed mild and simmering resentment from your guests who are all probably having to buy a special outfit.
