DH says this is gross

Snipped open the plastic on a pizza with kitchen scissors. Then used same scissors to cut the pizza into slices. DH actually said this was “vile and unsanitary” as the plastic could have been exposed to anything.

I’ll admit that for things like this I’m on the more disgusting end of the spectrum and he’s on the more disgusted but I honestly thought this was uncontroversial?

I have kitchen scissors specifically for cutting pizza! I would have rinsed them between the plastic and pizza 🙂

Reminds me of the time my dad used kitchen scissors to cut off some dried poop that got stuck in the fur on our long haired cats tail/bottom area. My mum said "I use those to cut the bacon". Pretty gross even by MN standards 🤣

Fucking hate our breadbin. Again, DH convinced that having bread just on counter or in cupboard is unhygienic. Glad you brought this up.

We cook on the bare wire rack, whats wrong with that.

Also you cannot cut a pizza on a plate with the wheel because of the plate up turning at the edges and the horrible scratchyness that would come with scraping that wheel across a plate. Urgh

Always scissors- oven to plate then cut with scissors - pizza cutters need chopping board much more work!

Are you a toddler? I can cut things without leaving chunks of them on the scissors. Also, I have eyes.

Totally with the H. If the scissors were just in a drawer they would be cutting up my food. I wash the scissors if I've cut open a packet of wet food. It has food on it that can sit and fester in the drawer. I've done a food hygiene certificate so am fussy

How often do you wash the rack? Also what pizzas are you cooking because a good dough even frozen base will just seep though a wire rack.

I’m amazed at the outrage. Pizza cutters are hard to use on crusty pizza.

A couple of things. It just seems weird to use scissors to cut food; you use knives and cutters for that. Never occurred to me to use scissors for it. Also, I make my own pizza and what with the cheese and the toppings, I'm not sure I could cut it with scissors. I think everything would slide around. I have a pizza cutter.

I don't think there's anything unhygienic about it, assuming you haven't been cutting raw meat with the scissors or something, but it just seems so odd. Scissors are for cutting paper or sellotape, not food!

My ex-boyfriend’s mum introduced me to cutting pizza with KITCHEN scissors about 20 years ago. Best thing about the whole 3-year relationship!

@OMG12 I do agree that it might be something to do with having children. I used scissors to cut up everything when DS was weaning etc so it's just second nature to reach for them now.
